Quick Walkthrough[edit]

This quest can be started after Clear-Headed has been completed by talking to Viriya:

Know of anyone in need of fishing work around Skyrim?

"You're headed to Whiterun. It's all in this note."

She will then hand you a bounty from Mila requesting a goldfish. Once you have obtained a goldfish, head to Whiterun and speak to Mila:

I heard that you'd like a pet goldfish. What do you think of this one?

"Could I keep him? Please?"

Sure. Here you go.

"You're the best! Thanks!"

You will then have to follow Mila to her house, where she will place the goldfish in a trough of water. She will then reward you with 1 gold.

Making a full loop around Mara's Eye Pond, southwest of Windhelm, can net you 3-6 Goldfish. If none are present, wait an hour and dive back in.
Three Goldfish spawn in the pond located outside of Fellglow Keep which is only a short distance from Whiterun, making this an easy option for completing the quest.
After you give Mila the Goldfish, it's possible that she will wander around Whiterun, following her mother all day. Or it could happen that she doesn't snap out of her playing, if you told her about the Goldfish while she was playing catch with the other kids. If you don't want to wait use the console: setstage ccBGSSSE001_Misc_WhiterunPartOne 40 then talk to her to finish the quest.

Notes

Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ccBGSSSE001_Misc_WhiterunPartOne stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest ccBGSSSE001_Misc_WhiterunPartOne.
