SI failing to load

On PS3 (used original oblivion disk)I was dropped into the Tiber Septim hotel and everything on my character was deleted (spells and faction). Woth the SI disk back I still had all the weapons I stored and quests finished (it just didn't show in my journal). I'll check this soon so tell me if you want more details. — Unsigned comment by 70.241.128.127 (talk)
The Tiber Septim hotel is the default location you are placed if your character's previous location is unavailable. That is, if your character was located somewhere provided by a mod, and the game was unable to load the mod, and by extension, the location, it will place you back in the Tiber Septim. This implies that your game is unable to access the SI content. I'm not exactly sure what PS3 users do, but my most rudimentary assumption would be to either reset your console and try again, or reinstall the DLC. --Saruuk 23:04, 2 July 2008 (EDT)
the problem is you used the wrong disc, once you use the SI disc you must use it from then on. the Oblivion disc dose not have the same constuction set as the SI disc, so naturlly you will lose all items. i did the same thing, the way to fix it is to play with the SI disc, you dont need the Oblivion disc any more. sell it, give it away, lend it to a freind. also if you saved with the items lost, your pretty much screwed. --Votirc

What if you reset your hard drive? You'll still need the original Oblivion disk to install the game, won't you? -- Coxis 19 February 2009.

Cant Save (PS3)

Ive finished SI and began doing side quest, after a while I was no longer able to save. it freezes on the save screen, it loads fine and my new game saves normally, i should note i have 250+ hours of play time and my save is 6345 KB. the disc is new and there are no major gitches. you can only save and autosave on PS3 and neither are working. please HELP! ----— Unsigned comment by 71.57.120.187 (talk)

I can't load my game

I have a xbox360 and I have problems with my oblivion. I am unable to load my savefile as my game freezes when it's loaded for about 80%. I've tried to clear the cache and all but it didn't work. The only way to load my game is to delete all updates but when I do that I will lose all my data of the SI since the expansion can only be played with certain updates. Does anybody know what the cause is and if I can fix it.Mr.Mario 04:16, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Felldew Addiction

my xbox makes instantly adicted 2 felldew though ive never taken it why is ths happnen — Unsigned comment by Deathjam (talkcontribs) on 24. September 2008

When you enter the Dunroot Burrow, you have to take Felldew, are you sure you haven't entered it? If not, then another solution would be to complete the quest Addiction, during which you will receive a permanent antidote. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 16:14, 24 September 2008 (EDT)

PS3 Availability

Is it possible to get this plug-in for ps3 without buying the GOTY edition. I have the main game and I've looked everywhere but can't find it. 86.45.192.114 09:56, 29 October 2008 (EDT)

Just look on the playstation network marketplace thingy, the shivering isles can be downloaded there~under the oblivion downloads, if i'm correct. 82.95.155.246 16:46, 5 November 2008 (EST)
There is a retail disk version out. It is about 30$. --Oblivion nerd 13:28, 6 December 2008 (EST)
Note, the retail disk can only really be found at select GameStops or on the Ineternet. --Oblivion nerd 15:47, 13 December 2008 (EST)

GameStop still has it, I just bought a used version today for my BDay gift to myself - 8/4/09

I don't know about the US availability. But SI is definitely not available on the UK/Europe PSN SteVB(93.186.20.123 16:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC))

When is the best time in-game to install/start playing it?

I have over 220 hours of gameplay (I have the PS3 version). I'm level 50, halfway through the main quest (BRUMA GATE --Haven't played it in possibly over a year) but have focused on completing the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild and Knights of the nine questlines, as well as a bunch of side quests and explored a bunch of dungeons (I haven't touched the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood quests, since my character is "good").

I've had the Shivering Isles disc for over 7 months now, but I haven't even opened it yet, since there's so much to do in Oblivion, I haven't felt the need for it. I want to install it, though; but I've been wondering on what is the best time to install this in-game? Maybe after I complete Tamriel's main quest? Any help is appreciated, thanks. Coxis -- 19 February 2009.

The actual time you install it really doesn't matter much. The two storylines (Cyrodiil's and the Isles') don't have any effects on each other, so you can do either one whenever you like. You may want to complete te main story first, simply so that you don't have to end up constantly running between the Isles and Cyrodiil, but as I already said, both can be done at any time. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:33, 19 February 2009 (EST)

Travel between Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles

moved from User talk:Daveh --GuildKnightTalk2me 21:30, 20 April 2009 (EDT)

Just bought the shivering isles to my oblivion game and I am wondering if once I get into shivering isles tru the doors can I still comeback to cyrodill to complete the quests or is it a one way ticket ????????? So please let me know. — Unsigned comment by 24.215.155.6 (talk) on 20 April 2009

Yes, you can go back to Cyrodiil after you enter the Isles at anytime in the SI questline, but there is a quest where you can't fast travel to the door to Cyrodiil, you have to fast travel to the gates of madness, enter them, THEN you can fast travel to the door (if you found it again, its a Elven Ruin symobl instend of a landmark symbol, you have to rediscover it again because the forcers of Order took the Fringe. You'll find out more info later on in the questline.) and yes, even at that point you can still go back to Cyrodiil. xXPATEXx````

No Strange Door

I have just installed the expansion pack and there is no strange door where it should be, and even though about a week (game time) has passed I haven't had the quest update telling me about the strange door either. Any suggestions?

The first thing I'd do is try uninstalling and re-installing SI. Also, try starting a new game and making your way there to see if the Strange Door appears. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 23:28, 28 May 2009 (EDT)

I have figured it out now, my friend used his game of the year edition disc to install it and I continued to play on my standard disc. I had a suspicion it would be that and after we tried it on his disc, it worked. I will be buying the game of the year disc myself now, but many thanks anyway for your help!

No quest popup for SI and no Island

I have a PS3, and the GOTY Edition. I've played through a few characters and have NEVER been able to get to SI. The quest "A strange door" has never popped up.. even after testing with brand new characters. I've checked all through Niben Bay, as some have suggested, and no island. I know someone didn't swap the CDs out on me because I've done the Knights of the Nine quests on two different characters. Anyone have any possible advice, apart from the general - "just look in niben bay", if you say that at the least give me an exact location w/ reference points, and not just southeast of bravil or w/e. I feel so cheated that I picked up the GOTY to play both expansions, and only get to play the least involved one. — Unsigned comment by 67.174.69.38 (talk) on 3 July 2009

It's hard to miss when you look from Bravil, but here's the (map) link. --Timenn-<talk> 09:57, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Can I sell the SI disc after installing ( xbox 360 )

I have installed the SI retail disc for the 360 and want to know if I can sell it, will it ever prompt me to use the disc again? I dont have live right now but when I get it and connect will it affect it anyway? — Unsigned comment by 173.5.181.31 (talk) on 9 July 2009

Lets just say that if you sell your disc, you sell licence. i.e. you are no longer allowed to use its contents. --Timenn-<talk> 12:24, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

But, to actually ANSWER your question, after you install it on XBox, you don't need it anymore. You can pop back in your main Oblivion disk and play through shivering isles. It will load you from the disk and the SI from the harddrive. It's what I'm running right now. The load times are slightly longer in SI than in Cyrodil, you may notice. Other than that, it works flawlessly. Justeazy 03:49, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Deleting SI

I don't really want to try this out, but if you delete SI, what will happen to all your equipment, armor, weapons, ect. ? Will they stay with you or will they be deleted? And if they are deleted, will they come back when you reinstall? Thanks! Cyrus the Pirate 07:10, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Any items that you found in the Isles that were part of the original game will stay with you. Anything that was added by SI (Dawnfang/Duskfang, Madness and Amber weapons, Saint and Seducer armor etc) will disappear. I believe, although I've never tried it, that if you have SI-specific items stored in a safe container, and don't open it as long as the expansion is not present, they will still be there if it is reinstalled. –rpehTCE 07:55, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
All items from SI that are equiped turn black. any not equiped dissapear (my si deleted itself)you may also face the problem if you have armour or weapons equiped that the position will be out of place so ur legs will be floating away from your body and bouncing when moving aswell as the weapon being a shadow (looks cool)- anon — Unsigned comment by 86.175.39.58 (talk) at 16:22 on 28 August 2009

Knights of the nine plugins included?

Ok, I have ordered the regular copy of Oblivion for PC because I found it very cheap online now before I buy the Shivering Isles, I need to know if the other plugins (Horse armor, Wizard's Tower etc) is included with the Shivering Isles. I know the fighters stronghold HAS to be downloaded but the downloading page is down for maintenence so how do I also obtain that dlc? ~~Dallercoder— Unsigned comment by Dallercoder (talkcontribs) on 22 Aug. 2009

The download site being is a problem, as the Fighter's Stronghold plug-in is thus no longer available. The other plug-ins (but not Shivering Isles) can be acquired with the Knights of the Nine retail disc. The Shivering Isles retail version only contains that expansion pack, nothing else. --Timenn-<talk> 11:55, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

problem with game of the year

i bought the game of the year edition and installed shivering isles and kotn and i havent got the door in nibenay balley quest or found the prophet Agente00cuyo 19:53, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

In both cases you have to wait a bit for their related rumors to pop-up. The Shivering Isles rumor will pop-up automatically after some time, and for the Knights of the Nine rumor you will have to ask people for rumors. --Timenn-<talk> 11:55, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

never mind it already worked but if you put your isles stuff in a safe container like the chest in your bedroom in wizard tower, delete the isles on the xbox version and before selecting oblivion in the dashboard reinstall it with the goty edition can i get both rings of lordship and guard armors Agente00cuyo

This seems to be a common problem with the GOTY edition. First and foremost, make sure that a couple of days have passed in-game since you left the Imperial Prison/Sewers. Also, if I understand correctly, some disks were released for the XBox in GOTY packaging that weren't actually GOTY disks, so you may want to double-check that your disk is actually GOTY if you're on an XBox. If you're using your brother's disk, then obviously that's not a problem. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything specific to resolve the problem other than re-starting. If you're on the PC, you can use the console to start it manually using the command: setstage SE01Door 10. You can also try the various methods listed in Exclamation marks instead of an entrance to the Shivering Isles. Even if you don't have the exclamation marks, the steps outlined there may resolve the problem. That's all I can think of at the moment. Post back and let us know how it goes. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 19:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Crazy

If everyone that comes out of the SI are insane, why isn't the player?--Arch-Mage Matt 01:29, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

For the same reason they can't get addicted to Skooma, aren't permanently crippled by their injuries, never need to eat or sleep and other factors. Plus how do you implement insanity as as a game mechanic? Finally, one key thing about insane people is they don't believe they are insane. — Unsigned comment by 79.79.216.194 (talk) on October 9, 2009
From a programming/game play perspective, that's most likely correct. For a narrative alternative, I like to think that the whole reason your character was able to do the job was because the Isles don't affect them the same way. The doorway was opened by Sheogorath to draw any potential champion in, and their first and most important test was to see if the realm would break their mind. Since you don't go nuts, the Madgod accepts you as his champion. There are, of course, some holes in this theory (like the adventurers from Baiting the Trap), I like it better than saying "They programmed it that way". Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 22:19, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Besides: Haskil's also apparently completely sane. I think that's why you're the Chosen One: because Oblivion somehow doesn't effect your hero. I mean, let's not forget that the Mad House is just another plane of Oblivion. Since you spend an awful lot of time wandering the different Oblivion planes, your hero is most likely special somehow. The Emperor's dream undoubtedly told him of a mortal who could cross over to the different planes of Oblivion and not be destroyed by it. Whatever keeps you safe from being destroyed in Dagon's Realm must keep you sane in Sheogorath's Realm. — Unsigned comment by 67.190.205.73 (talk) on 10 January 2010

This is actually obvious, you are supposed to wait in Paswall until you are crazy enough to get into the SI but the player decides "No way, im gonna kick the gatekeepers ass then im going through that damn gate (of madness)." Just so nobody misunderstands me, no matter how long you wait in Paswall you wont go insaneJean-Velejeanne 15:19, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Actually from a role-playing perspective, my character has been "affected" by Shivering Isles. Compared to vanilla Oblivion, the quests are not so much exclusively "Good guy" and my character though not a thief/sneak/assassin type character now has gear to do such dirty deeds and has had cause to, in order to fulfill the quests. Given my character's exemplary behaviour in vanilla Oblivion (save the world, rid the world of Necromancers - mages guild quests), it is like a great personality swing to be acting the way they are in SI. Although it does fit with the character too as starting the fighters guild quests and picking off the remaining vanilla quests left undone, one can imagine the character getting bored with it all and starting to change in attitude! When I go back to vanilla Oblivion I'll likely do the thief and dark brotherhood quests even though it seemed "wrong" for my character previously!

Shivering Isles Question? (xbox)

Alright, so I normally play the game w/o patches for the glitches (Like I have 2500 magicka). I downloaded the patches, went into the shivering isles, made it past the gates of Mania, and then I went back to Cyradill, removed the patches, then continued the game. I upped my athletics and acrobatics to past 200 with a glitch, then redownloaded the patches, and played through the rest of the main story as well as dark brotherhood.

Now that I am almost finished with fighter's guild, I'm wondering, when I return to Shivering Isles, what happens?

What happens to the items I accumulated (such as the amulet as a reward from my quest in the SI) What happens to my quest progress? Do i start over (this would be prefereable to losing items) If i remove the patches after shivering isles, play, then re install them, will I lose all my shivering isles items?

Thanks. — Unsigned comment by 68.193.246.197 (talk) at 19:44 on 23 October 2009

Hi, try to uninstall it and re-install it, then go out to the place where the island is. and if that still doesn't work, you may want to complain to whatever store you bought it from. Make sure youre looking for the island in the right area: on a clear sunny day travil to the bravil stables; you'll se it on the water from there.--Arch-Mage Matt 20:58, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

The door doesn't appear straight away in game, it takes a couple of days not just one. Also check your data files and make sure Shivering Isles is ticked. If that doesn't work then I would go with Matt's suggestion.--Kri-Dar 21:14, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

The door actually DOES appear straightaway after you leave the tutorial. I used a Disc of Madness(mod-specific) to teleport to the the door as soon as I was out of the tutorial. Defender of Lainlyn 05:07, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

SI glitch or GOTY disc glitch?

Ok so I decided to level up more by doing the felldew glitch. From the quest addiction. my character is level 188 btw. I saw on a youtube video that the felldew glitch is actually helpfull for extending your level cap after reaching 100 in all attributes. So i took the felldew waited for ruinous withdrawal leveled up then i deleted shivering isles went back to the saved file then i saved it to a new file. so at this point all my stuff and the door is gone. i go back put in the GOTY disc and i choose to install just shiver isles because i still have knights of nine. so after reinstalling SI I go back load the saved file i saved earlier and fuckin when i looked i could fast travel to the SI door. So i did and i was confused because i didnt get the message or pop up yet after waiting 24 hours. i saw that i could go through the door. i looked around and i had all the fast travel markers i discorvered. i go to the gate and i see that the gatekeeper is dead and the gaurds are sitll at the same place. i know this because a gaurd flew and his body is in the exact same place. i go to sheograth and talk to him and there is nothing i can talk to him about except for SYL. Haskill doesnt say anything to me either. btw when i went threw the door i didnt have to sit down and talk with haskill the room was alreayd uncovered. Why is this happening? i deleted shivering isles and saved. the save had no traces of any SI content. i reinstalled it and its like the same shit only that theres no quest and no possible way to start a quest. Has this happend to anyone else? please reply.

Shivering Isles has Reset..? (PS3)

After a good few hours playing the Shivering Isles main quest line, I finished it, and since then have been doing a few quests on the main oblivion game.. This included the Knights of the Nine plugin, although today, I decided I would do a few side quests in Shivering Isles only to find the whole place has 'reset' as if I had never finished the Shivering Isles quest in the first place.. Is there a Fix for this, or will I have to play through the entire shivering Isles again to get to where I was..? Also I beleive myself this occurred because I played Shivering Isles instead of Knights of the Nine first..

Any help would be apreciated thanks..

I'm afraid your only option is to re-do the SI storyline, if it really is "reset" then it would be easy to accomplish.

No SI

I am on PC Vista with GOTY and when i put in disk 2 and install it only knights of the nine works and there is no trace of shivering isles, no door, no quest, no boxes or items in testing hall... despite the fact that it has specifacaly worked before on this PC, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and starting a new game, but nothing works and i need SI to play other mods let alone the thing itself...Help someone? — Unsigned comment by TheElderScribe (talkcontribs) on 7 February 2010

Another "No door" problem

Alright, here's my situation. Like many people, when I successfully downloaded the Game of the Year disk (SI and KotN showed up on hard-drive, main menu says loading extra content etc.) the door, and the island didn't appear where it should be (Don't tell me I need to simply search the whole bay, I've done a full, planned sweep of the entire area and there is no island). I've installed and uninstalled the content countless times, and it still hasn't worked. Also, I've done the waiting period to just about the extreme (2-3 months ingame) and still no resaults. Sadly, I'm running on a dial up internet connection because of location, so I cannot download any patches from Xbox LIVE. I've read just about every guides and suggestions there are, and nothing fully covers what I need to know, mostly because of my semi-unique situation with the dial-up connection. I would appreciate any thought out pointers, I love the game, but it's begining to become more buggy then I'm comfortable with. Thanks. — Unsigned comment by 64.12.116.74 (talk) on 26 February 2010

My suggestion would be to find someone willing to let you "borrow" their high-speed internet connection, take your console to their house, and download the patch(es) there. --GKtalk2me 19:40, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Door in niben bay wont show up.

i have the goty edition for xbox 360. ive uninstalled and installed si several times and it never shows up and i never get the notifacation. i dont have live and my hardrive says si is downloaded(~andrwm~)

This isn't the first time I've heard a report of SI not installing properly, but let's go over the obvious possibilities first: Have you waited 24 hours in-game after installing it? If so, try starting a new game, wait 24 hours, then see if it shows up. Robin HoodTalk 06:38, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
