Ultima Series

The bull at the Yokudan camp appears to reference the Ultima games. The line "Blonde hair, ankh on his chest, been poking around that wagon..." is a clear reference to the Avatar of Virtue, the hero of that series, who was commonly depicted as a blonde guy with an ankh on his armor.

Additionally, talking to a farm animal may be a reference to Smith the Horse from Ultima 6 and later games (although Smith talks back). Echo (talk) 01:14, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

I think you're right about the reference to the Avatar of Virtue. The game was released before Redguard and that line makes no sense in context. Coyle doesn't have blond hair or wear an ankh, and the only people on Stros M'Kai I can think of with blond hair are Tobias and Urik. I'm not so sure about Smith the Horse, but it's from the same series so certainly possible. Trailer Egg

In the trailer there is a bookshelf containing names of the games. There is "The Elder Scrolls Arena", Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and apparently "The Elder Scrolls Romanella." "Romanella" aside, the cinematic clearly shows Morrowind and Oblivion. Not sure if this counts as a series reference or easter egg though. But it's worth mentioning somewhere Echo (talk) 23:18, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Magnificent Mariah

Some places consider there to be an egg with Mariah. Apparently you can light her on fire with a torch, resulting in her exploding, to which Cyrus exclaims "Magnificent," all because she is "the most annoying person in the game." Silence is Golden^{Break the Silence} 12:00, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

I can confirm this is possible and wow, was I surprised! I'll add this to her NPC page under notes, but it definitely deserves a spot here as well. There's also a reference to her "beautiful voice" in Morrowind. We should probably have historical references pages for all the games except Arena. —Dillonn241 (talk) 23:02, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Tobias

Tobias is a quoter, he has three quotes in his dialogue that have been mentioned so far (see Lore talk:Frandar Hunding).

"War is the continuation of politics." is part of a very well-known longer line from Carl von Clausewitz's On War.

"Political power grows along the blade of a sword." is a localised version of "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." by Mao Zedong

"Be resolute, fear no sacrifice and surmount every difficulty to win victory." is taken straight from Mao Zedong.

Shady Grove

From The Imperial Library's "Dog Ate My Homework" page, the town of "Shady Grove" in southwest Hammerfell is named Shady Grove Road, a highway that runs very close to Bethesda's office at . The town can be seen on this map, but a clearer version is seen on the TIL page. I would say that this should be added to the page, but rather in a new section called "In-Jokes", which is also used on the Oblivion Easter eggs page. This appears in PATH.LOG in the main Redguard directory along with a number of other similar statements. The game's executable file includes the template Breadth first search, start %d, end %d. I'm not completely sure what this means, but I think it has something to do with NPC pathfinding, which seems to be based on nodes that they walk between. "Romanelli"?

Can anyone verify that the name that appeared alongside Morrowind and Oblivion under "Future Games" was "Romanelli", and not something else (i.e. "Redfall")? Romanelli just sounds completely out of place in a series like The Elder Scrolls. 24.167.247.114 23:08, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

We originally added it as Romanella but I later changed that to Romanelli after more carefully looking at the last letter. Several people over at Tamriel Rebuilt had come to that conclusion even before this page was created. The "Romanell" part I am very confident is correct; Redfall is impossible for sure. If you want to check, I suggest using the game itself. The version on the Elder Scrolls site and versions on YouTube are even blurrier than the real thing.

I agree it sounds out of place, but it is what it is, up to Romanell at least. My best guess is something to do with the fall of the Empire, since it has similarities to the Roman Empire, and the title contains the word Roman.
