Time Placement

Is Summerset set in 2E 583, or did we reach 2E 584 because the Razum-dar's Journal page says it is set in 584, I don't know if the game says it verbatim or there is an hint that it is a year later. Anyone have an idea? --Vincentius1 (talk) 13:40, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

Summerset is most likely set in 2E 586, as the progression of time in ESO (with the release of new content) seems to follow that in real life—the Orsinium DLC is set in late autumn 2E 583, the game first starts in early 2E 582, and the DLC was released in November 2015, ESO in April 2014. All new zones have also been in the same season as IRL when they were released. I don't know about the source for Razum-dar's journal being from 584; but as its events clearly take place some time before the Summerset chapter's, it's certainly possible. However, as the last confirmed date for ESO's events is 583, we label all later events as "circa 2E 583" on lore pages, as speculation should always be avoided. —Aran Anumarile Autaracu Alatasel (talk) 14:17, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

584, 585 or 586 never appear in the lang file. I assume that Razum-dar's journal is the physical booklet included with physical collector's edition; if it really mentions 584, then we could definitely go with that, as we've used Naryu's journal as a source for similar purposes. I don't see any evidence of 2E 584 being mentioned in the text of Razum-dar's Journal, which is a shame because it's starting to seem like we'll be relying on the journal of a Wrothgarian birdwatcher for the rest of time...

As to the original question, apparently Darien's dialogue in Summerset even acknowledges the messed up timeline if you speak to him prior to completing the Coldharbour zone storyline. The devs are definitely taking the approach that Summerset, Morrowind, and the base game can be played in whatever order you wish, which would firmly place it in 2E 582 if not for the date given in Birds of Wrothgar. —Legoless (talk) 21:33, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
