Changes in Patch .181[edit]

So apparently Patch .181 changed a lot of things about this quest. Firstly, if you have already completed the tutorial one time you can skip it the next time. This will probably not change your starting equipment (apart from whatever you loot from containers) because... Secondly, there are no more choices on which weapon to take. You get a Cast-Off Iron Sword, that's it. Thirdly, no more Harvester at the end. He's been replaced by a few skeletons and a Bone Colossus. Fourthly, it seems some parts were cut out entirely. I'm going to scour Youtube to find exactly what. Then, I'm going to go through and change it for future betas, pending more changes, but if anyone's wondering that's what happened. likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 20:59, 8 March 2014 (GMT)

It's a beta. Things change :P Jeancey (talk) 21:04, 8 March 2014 (GMT)
Hah, true. Editing as I go along now. likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 21:07, 8 March 2014 (GMT)
Ah that's a shame, I thought that quest worked quite well as it was. Don't forget: finally, after the quest, you're dropped off in Glenumbra/Auridon/Stonefalls, rather than Stros M'Kai/Khenarthi's Roost/Bleakrock Isle. --Enodoc (talk) 00:06, 9 March 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, I liked having my destruction staff right from the start. :( I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate the starter islands no longer being starter islands on the numerous pages calling them starter islands. I didn't start a new char this last beta, so I don't know quite how it all goes down and the videos I have found skip over some "boring" parts. I'll probably end up just with a general "you'll end up here" note and let someone else add the details. likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 02:08, 9 March 2014 (GMT)
It's only been that way in the private (PTS) beta so far, so that may be why there's not a lot of info sbout it. After the next weekend beta, we should have a better idea how it works. But yes, it's important for it to be mentioned here as it's still where you need to go to start the alliance storylines, although I'll be checking whether it's possible to start the Zone 1 stories without doing the Starter Islands' stories as well. --Enodoc (talk) 20:22, 9 March 2014 (GMT)

New quest reward?[edit]

I made a new save on Friday, as an Ebonheart Pact Imperial, and after awakening in Sedrano House in Davon Watch, I didn't receive the Soul Shriven signet, I received a casket that contained a unique cuirass and some other equipment. Anybody else get that? Vicano (talk) 19:22, 16 March 2014 (GMT)

I got a robe and a bow. Seems like the signet is out as a reward. Jeancey (talk) 19:24, 16 March 2014 (GMT)

Up to date?[edit]

I understand that this quest was changed significantly. Is the info on here current? I was considering nominating it as our first ESO FA. Insignificant RevisionsThreatsEvidence 15:37, 12 April 2014 (GMT)

I can't speak for the accuracy of the info, as when I wrote the page it was from a Beta Let's Play video. As for a nomination - I was planning to revisit the page for some general tweaks and request a few images for it, as I still think it can be better. --Jimeee (talk) 12:30, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
Indeed, it needs work, but sometimes a premature nomination can be the kick to the pants a page needs to get there. Anyways, we don't have many candidates at the moment to be our first ESO FA. Insignificant RevisionsThreatsEvidence 12:39, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
This does seem like it would be a good choice for the first ESO Featured Article. The FAN process can help with word phrasing and article flow and such, but I think we need to have someone who has played through it in the most recent version update it before it's even worth considering. -Thunderforge (talk) 02:14, 16 April 2014 (GMT)

Update this page for Morrowind?[edit]

With the Morrowind expansion, there's a new way to start this quest. You speak to a female "Hooded Figure" (Imperial? Breton?), who tells you to talk to "The Benefactor", who ends up being a tied-up, muffled Redguard. You get knocked out from behind by some Worm Cultists, and a cutscene shows your execution at the hands of Mannimarco, your soul's stolen by him, and you're sent to Coldharbour.

Should this info be added somewhere? VycDarkshadow (talk) 05:00, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry, haven't got around to it yet! It's on the list of things to do after ESO:MW launches on Tuesday. --Enodoc (talk) 21:38, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Gone?[edit]

2018 guides reference this quest starting "if you only own the base game". This is inaccurate. The base-game (for 10$ on the ESO online store) starts in Morrowind. Moreover, *all* the factions seem to start in Morrowind, now. There appears to be no further way to access this quest. Unless, of course, high-level players are able to access it after completing the (now) *true* main quest... the Morrowind quest. I've been walking around the Alliance starting city for hours, and there haven't been any hooded messengers. There also seems to be no way to abandon the Morrowind quest. Every existing guide seems to be wrong, as of 19/10/06. — Unsigned comment by 130.45.19.92 (talk) at 23:45 on 6 October 2019 (UTC)

This quest automatically starts once the hooded figure approaches you at any wayshrine outside of Morrowind. Did you buy the base game with no dlc, or did you buy the ESO Standard Edition bundle? The Standard Edition bundle comes with Morrowind, which was downgraded from a Chapter to dlc (technically speaking, in a sense that it can also be accessed with an ESO Plus subscription).MolagBallet (talk) 18:52, 7 October 2019 (GMT)
