Consistency[edit]

I want to set out a few model examples of skin pages for people to look towards when gunning for completion on new collectible skins. I'm not really doing this for any particular reason, other than I've been filling out these pages a certain way, and nobody can read my mind, so if I want these pages to remain consistent, I should probably lay out what I'm doing and why.

Basic Skin Page Formatting

First we have a shining star of a DLC (or just any dungeon reward) skin: The Taskmaster's Banner. The first thing is that I've been putting the female (human or elf) version of the skin in the Collectible Summary for no other reason than "they're on the left side of the Skins masterlist, and the Collectible Summary puts them on the left side of the collectible's page". You can put the male or female version of the skin in the image parameter: it doesn't really matter. I've just defaulted to putting the female human/elf in the summary template.

The next thing I want to draw your attention towards is the gallery. For every skin page gallery, I have been adding three images of an Argonian character (gender does not matter: front, side, and back), three images of a Khajiit character (front, side, and back: gender does not matter, the only Khajiit I have on the live server happens to be female), the side and back profile of whichever gendered human or elf was used in the |image= parameter of the Collectible Summary, and the opposite gendered human/elf. Most of these human turnarounds are female because I don't have any male characters on the live server that aren't perpetually trapped in Deepwood Vale for wiki purposes.

You only need 1 gender's turnaround for humans and elves. I'm doing it this way because there's not really a big enough difference between the skins on male and female characters to justify taking six screenshots like that. I get turnarounds for Khajiit and Argonians because they have tails: no sense in doing an extra turnaround for humans or elves. In short: if you get a front, side, and back shot of a male Orc, you do not need a front/side/back shot for a female Altmer. If you get a front/side/back for a female Nord, you do not need to get a front/side/back with a male Imperial.

I should note that these turnarounds should preferably all be separate images: ON-skin-Collectible Name ([fe]male).jpg, ON-skin-Collectible Name ([fe]male) 02.jpg, and ON-skin-Collectible Name ([fe]male) 03.jpg, etc.

Holiday Skins and Skins that Show Equipped Markings Underneath

Because we are undoubtedly going to have another fragment-borne skin, I'd also like to feature Scales of Akatosh. It follows the formula we've set with the Deadlands Scorcher skin and other holiday collectibles, its acquisition is summarized succinctly in the Collectible Summary, and the gallery is complete, including the promotional render ZOS put out for the thing. Another great thing about this page is that all the images fit perfectly in the gallery: I don't know what y'all did to make 16:9 images fit into the same amount of space as a 1:1 image, but with the way I'm doing these human and elf turnarounds, there's no runoff into an additional row, and it satisfies me on a visual level.

While we're looking at a skin that displays worn body markings beneath the collectible: I would like to ask that we try to get at least one shot for these kinds of skins that features a character wearing tattoos or scale/fur patterns. That way, we can have a visual reference for the claim that "equipped body markings are visible beneath this skin".

Crown Crate Skins

Next on my list of features is Glimmertarn Glow and Shallowbay Nereid: Crown Crate skins, an Apex reward and a Legendary reward respectively. My one nitpicky thing to say about Crown Crate collectibles in general is that I've been putting the promotional renders first and the cards second (except in the case of body markings: the side and back view go before the promo and card for those, but this is how we're doing it with skins).

I've noticed a trend in some of the newer skins in that we've been putting brief physical descriptions of the skin in the bio beneath the summary: that's fine. The consistency police are not going to come for you for doing that. I would like to encourage more detailed physical descriptions as seen on the Scales of the Celestial Serpent, but not everyone has the time for that. Don't worry too much about it, just add what you can.

Save the Fingers 2k23

My final order of business is to provide you all with the Collectible Summary template that I've formatted specifically for skin pages so you if you're creating or editing a page for a new skin, you don't have to copy and paste the completed galleries from existing pages for reference and break your fingers highlighting the name of the collectible in each file name and ctrl+v'ing the copied gallery's skin names out of the list. That work is tedious and makes your fingers stiff. Prevent musculoskeletal issues: use this template instead of copy/pasting from a finished page. By default, this is set to cover Crate skins because those are the most frequent additions to our skin roster these days, but adjusting it to fit your purposes is easy enough.

Instructions: Don't use the occurrences section with collectibles that *only* appear in Crown Crates. The height parameter coincides with how many appearances the collectible has made in the store, and is increased by 25 for each appearance. A collectible that appears once has a height of 50, a collectible that appears twice has an Occurrences scrollbox 75 pixels high, 100px for three appearances, 125px for four, etc.

In the Appearances portion of this section, document the dates this collectible has appeared using a bulleted list. The number after the word "Appearances" should be consistent with the amount of times a collectible has been made available. In the list: first, list the item's source, then list the range of dates it appeared from, separating the source and the date using a hyphen.
