Quest Levels[edit]

I do not understand this edit. Sure, all quests in Silver/Gold zones are beyond level 50. But VR1 and VR6 are not the same. And there is a chance to come to the silver zone at level 45, for instance. As one progresses through the quest line, in third zones for example, enemy levels become VR3 and VR8. Why do we log XP and rewards for veteran ranks, but not recommended levels?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 15:44, 11 March 2015 (GMT)

Essentially I believe we decided (but I can't remember where or when) that to avoid confusion and clutter, quests and locations (and possibly NPCs/enemies as well, but I'm not sure) would primarily contain only the non-Veteran information. Specifically, quest levels on pages are supposed to be equal to that which is stated in the journal, and every Silver/Gold quest is listed as Level 50 (we took a bit of liberation on the Cadwell and Craglorn quests due to them being geared specifically to certain VRs with no lower alternatives). In addition, to a close enough approximation, everything in each Veteran zone corresponds to one Veteran Rank, while under Normal levels, each zone could contain content anywhere in a range of about 9 levels. Taking this quest as an example, everything in Silver Glenumbra is geared around Veteran1, so specifically stating so on each quest is redundant. Rewards were considered separately, because they varied by quest quite a bit before Update 1.5 standardised them. Hopefully that clears up the confusion; let me know if you have any more questions! --Enodoc (talk) 16:10, 11 March 2015 (GMT)
To me personally, lack of information is more confusing than redundancy. As of now, let's say I am a player who reached VR1 and only now learned that he is being sent to another Alliance. All materials, enemies and NPCs are VR1, but the Glenumbra page says "levels 3-15". Or a related quest page, "recommended level: 3". All the pages of quest-related NPCs show health and level stats that are different from mine. Doesn't it feel like I am in the wrong place? I know we have some of this info on Cadwell's Almanac already, and the Online:Veteran article will be filled up eventually, but there is no simple way to get there from the pages mentioned above, is there?   ~ Shuryard (talk) 20:56, 11 March 2015 (GMT)
Sure, that makes sense. Equally I don't wish to confuse new players with three different recommended levels for each quest; three different rewards is bad enough. I will add the Silver and Gold ranks to each zone page, so that is a bit clearer, and also add the ranks by zone to the Cadwell's Almanac pages along with a note explaining that the quest pages are based on a 1–50 run (as even if we end up with the decision to add the extra levels to everything, they won't all be there for a while). How else can we portray the information without affecting the quest page itself? --Enodoc (talk) 23:01, 11 March 2015 (GMT)
That would be great, thank you. If it is too much load, let me know and I will copy whatever you do to Covenant zones, for instance, to the zones of the other two alliances.   ~ Shuryard (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2015 (GMT)
Also, is it possible to add links to the crescent and sun icons, denoting Cadwell's Silver and Gold, so that they would link to Cadwell's Almanac page, for instance? I see you've done that part already :)   ~ Shuryard (talk) 23:16, 11 March 2015 (GMT)
No worries, all done! Let me know if you think we need to do anything more. I already have plans for tweaking the XP entries on quests based on this table, and possibly also the Discovery and Completion sections of places to include their awarded XP. --Enodoc (talk) 00:33, 12 March 2015 (GMT)
That was quick and efficient, thank you! And I'll definitely think of something else ;P   ~ Shuryard (talk) 06:39, 12 March 2015 (GMT)
