Suggestions[edit]

I would suggest that a better place for faction-specific ambient dialogue would be the faction and/or NPC pages themselves, as overlisting in this page may cause it to become harder to load (given the sheer volume of NPCs and dialogue in the game) as well as clutter it æsthetically. Second, I would suggest a tabulation of the quest/location-based dialogue, similarly to the following, for ease of reading.

Rumor Quest (choice) Speaker
"You saved our high and mighty queen, eh? Pah! Naemon should have had the crown!" A Hostile Situation High Elf males

I believe these suggestions would streamline the page for easier perusal. — J. J. Fullerton talk﴿ 07:32, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Hell yeah why not, seems like a much better way to do things aesthetically and practically. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 18:19, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

'Justice-related ambient dialogue'[edit]

The phrase 'Justice-related ambient dialogue' is a contradiction in terms, is it not? If the dialogue is triggered by specific player action, then by nature it cannot be ambient, can it? Further: even if it could be considered ambient, it is by no means tied to quest-related events. — J. J. Fullerton talk﴿ 18:09, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Separation[edit]

This page is becoming quite long. As someone who maintains this page regularly, (adding new sections for factions added by DLC, etc) I think it's time to find a solution before it becomes even more obscenely long. I've had to separate a few chunky pages in my time, and I'm considering taking the Crown Store Renders approach with overheard dialogue. Overheard dialogue could go on faction pages, and we could transclude a portion of it here to show people what sort of things people from that faction say. If a group doesn't have a clear-cut named faction, the dialogue will either go on a place page or a separate subpage that links back to this one and the location page.

The only thing I haven't figured out is whether or not we want to make a table or keep the list format. I'm leaning more towards fancy formatting. Another thing I'm considering is separating these hypothetical tables by base game, dungeon DLC, zone DLC and Chapter, kind of like what we've got going on over at Online:Generic NPCs. If anybody has any thoughts on how the page's makeover should look or suggestions for templates to use, feel free to weigh in. Lst has been suggested, but I'm open to different suggestions on how to implement it. -MolagBallet (talk) 02:51, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I think we could separate it using the / system (ie titles would be "ON:Ambient Dialogue/subsection") The Rim of the Sky (talk) 03:29, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
