Fildgor, King Jorunn's exiled brother, has returned to Skyrim. Nords from the Stormfist clan, loyal to Fildgor, have infiltrated the Konunleikar to get close to King Jorunn.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Observe the duel in the Hall of Trials.
  2. Protect King Jorunn.
  3. Talk to King Jorunn.
  4. Talk to Thane Mera Stormcloak.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Thane Mera Stormcloak is worried that King Jorunn is in danger. She wants you to go to the Hall of Trials and protect the king. The Hall of Trials is northeast of the Palace of Ysgramor.

When you enter the arena, you see Leimaer the Raven, a Stormfist, win a duel. She approaches the king, but before the king can congratulate her, one of the guards denounces Leimaer's trickery. She poisoned her opponents. However, she only laughs and declares that Fildgor is here to claim his birthright. She says Jorunn's reign is over and attacks. Other Stormfists in the arena help her as you, the guards, and the king fight back. Talk to the king once all the Stormfists have been defeated. He asks you to let Thane Mera know what happened.

Thane Mera Stormcloak is relieved to know her king is fine and considers you "the champion of the day." She gives you Thane Watch, a shield, and other rewards for saving the king's life.

  • There is a time limit in this quest between entering the Hall of Trials and getting to the arena, as implied in the conversation with Thane Mera Stormcloak. After entering the Hall of Trials, if you take too long to get to the arena (for example, if you spend a couple of minutes searching urns) you will hear a conversation between Leimaer the Raven and King Jorunn and you will have missed the objective, Observe the Champion, and will not be able to complete the quest. You must leave and re-enter and proceed directly to the arena.[verification needed — see talk page]

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
