The Deadlands[edit]

Dulkhi in the Deadlands

You find her in the Deadlands, next to Arlie. If you speak with her then, she will thank you for coming:

"A thrice-damned hero, you are. If my ribs weren't so bruised, I'd give you a hug!"

After you finished talking to Arlie and accept her plea to search for her parents, Dulkhi will assist you but will call out to Arlie before leaving:

Dulkhi: "Let's get moving. Arlie, be safe."

While she follows you, you have the opportunity to ask her some questions.

"I don't know how much help I'll be, but lead the way."
What happened between you and Arlie?
"Look, it was nothing. We grew up together, but with Federic so near, she never … she could never see me for anything other than a playmate. When he left, I thought … I had a chance."
A chance?
"To tell her how I felt. Ever since we we children, I've always thought she was special.
In my tenth year, I made her a cloak. A bearskin from a hunt her father took me on. Seeing it around her shoulders … it was wonderful."
Did she feel the same way?
"I don't know. I asked her, once, but it made her sad, so I stopped asking.
With Federic gone to Wayrest, we had more time together than ever. I think, in time, I might have stood a chance."
You don't think you still do?
"Maybe. But her mother would never have it. She did all this! She made a pact with Daedra just to stop me from getting close to Arlie! I know she didn't mean for all this to happen, but …."

As Dulkhi accompanies you through the hostile terrain, she will worry about Krisandra Edrald's reaction:

Dulkhi: "Please, don't tell Arlie this. Her mother is responsible for bringing us here."

If you speak with her then, she will reiterate:

"Listen, this whole thing happened because Arlie's mother didn't approve of us spending time together. Even though things didn't work out for her, she might not be happy to see me alive."

Later on she will comment on the environment:

Dulkhi: "This lava goes on as far as I can see. How can anything live in this place?"

After you save both of the Edrald parents, Dulkhi will be relieved that she and you are almost finished with this realm. "We're nearly there! Soon we can put this whole terrible experience behind us!"

As you approach the Sigil Stone, she will point it out:

Dulkhi: "There it is. That's where they keep the Sigil Stone."

After defeating Velark who was guarding the stone, Dulkhi will be relieved:

Dulkhi: "Funny. She's not as scary now."

Back on the Estate[edit]

Once you leave the Deadlands, Dulkhu will run up to Arlie crying her name:

Dulkhi: "Arlie!"

If you follow and speak to her in the manor before talking to Federic, she will say:

"It's good to be back. I never imagined such a horrible place existed."

Later you can find her back at the Edrald Manor, sweeping. She is now feeling less optimistic.

"And everything goes back to the way it was … I don't know how I feel about that."
What do you mean?
"Federic's back, and Arlie, she really does care for him. Seeing the look on her face as he stepped through that portal … Look, I'm just a servant. If me being around causes problems for her, maybe I shouldn't stay."
Get out there. See the world and make a name for yourself!
"I will! And when—if—I return, it will be as an Orc who has struck her name into the face of the world!
Thank you, my friend, for inspiring me. Before you go, Arlie wants to speak with you. She's waiting outside."
Listen, Arlie needs people she can rely on. You've more than proven yourself.
"You're right. How could I even consider abandoning her? She needs me now, more than ever.
Before you go, Arlie wants to speak with you. She's waiting for you just outside."
You're an Orc! Where is your loyalty to hearth and clan? (Orc-only Option)
"I … I never …. My parents died when I was very young. Even so … your words … they feel right somehow. I will stay with her. No matter what! Before you go, Arlie wants to speak with you. She's waiting for you just outside."

Speaking to her again, regardless of choice:

"Thanks again, friend. We never would have made it out of there without you."

Afterwards[edit]

After speaking with Arlie, Federic and Dulkhi will walk up to her to have a little conversation. The topic of their conversation will depend on what advice you gave to them.

If you told both Federic and Dulkhi to stay, the following will happen.

Federic: "Arlie, dear, you really must settle something for us."
Dulkhi: "Tell him!"
Arlie: "Tell him what?"
Dulkhi: "That I'm the one you love. It's obvious!"
Arlie: "What?"
Federic: "It is not! Surely you love me, Arlie! Tell her!"
Arlie: "I.. uh... uh... please, don't make me do this..."
Federic: "Oh, Arlie, we're only having a bit of fun!"
Dulkhi: "You don't really have to choose between us."
Federic: "Not right away, at any rate."
Dulkhi: "Federic!"
Federic: "Well, she's going to have to choose sometime!"

If Federic and Dulki both stayed, she can be spoken to again:

"With Federic back it's going to be harder to keep Arlie's attention. That doesn't mean I won't try, though! My days of sitting idly by are over!"

However, if you told both of them to go out into the world, this will happen instead:

Dulkhi: "Arlie. Baroness."
<Federic walks up beside her.>
Dulkhi: "We're … Federic and I …."
Federic: "We're leaving, Arlie"
Arlie: "Leaving? But where will you go?"
Federic: "To Daggerfall."
Dulkhi: "To seek our fortunes."
Arlie: "But Federic, you've only just arrived! And Dulkhi …."
Federic: "It must be done, Arlie. This isn't the place for us. Not for now, anyway."
Dulkhi: "It's time we made our own way in the world."
Krisandra Edrald: "But you're just children!"
Federic: "No, Baroness. We aren't. And it's time we acted it."
Dulkhi: "But that doesn't mean we won't miss you! We'll write!"
Federic: "We will, at that."
Arlie: "Then … if there's no changing your minds, I … I suppose this is goodbye."
Dulkhi: "Goodbye, Arlie. Baroness."
Federic: "We'll see you again, some day."
Krisandra Edrald: "Be careful out there!"

Dulkhi and Federic will then walk the down the road to leave for their adventures.

If Dulkhi leaves to make her fortune.

Dulkhi: "Arlie … I know this is sudden, but I'm leaving for Wayrest."
Arlie: "What? But why?"
Dulkhi: "I've learned all I can, here. If these last few days have taught me anything, it's that I must learn to stand on my own."
Arlie: "I … I think I understand. But Dulkhi … you will always have a place, here."
Dulkhi: "Thank you."
Dulkhi: "Baroness … I know you are angry with me, but I have always thought of you as a mother. I will try to do you proud."
Krisandra Edrald: "Dulkhi, I may have … overreacted. Know that I am sorry for what happened. I should have listened to Allan."
Dulkhi: "Take care of yourselves. I will write when I can."
Arlie: "We'll miss you!"
Dulkhi: "And I, you."

She will then walk to the edge of the property and disappear.

If Dulkhi stays and Federic leaves, she will not be part of the final dialogue, but you can speak with her again afterward.

"Thank you again, for convincing me to stay. With Federic leaving to join the Covenant, the Edralds will need me more than ever.
And … it is good to see Arlie safe and sound."

The Crown of Shornhelm[edit]

If you told both Dulkhi and Federic to both stay, she will appear at Shornhelm Castle with Arlie and Federic. Speaking to her:

"Hi there. You know, I just noticed that you have really pretty eyes.
Oh, I mean... not that I'm flirting with you or anything. Not unless you want me to."
Have you lost interest in Arlie?
"Oh no! That could never happen. Not after what I put her though. And certainly not until she's made her final decision."
