Armory and Library[edit]

You can nicely outfit yourself at the Temple Armory, especially helpful if you're a new character going straight into the main quest. The Library has some very rare books. — Unsigned comment by Klash72 (talkcontribs) at 08:09 on 10 August 2006‎

"Bug"?[edit]

This was added to the main quest page:

I was able to get him to the door by attacking him, he ran toward me and then opened the door, but his dispsosition was really low after that and he didn't offer for me to join the Blades, I was able to get past this by casting several different charm spells on him back to back to raise his dispostion.

It needs to be rewritten to clarify what problem this solves, and needs to be taken out of first-person perspective. --GuildKnight 19:37, 28 February 2007 (EST)

The Weynon Priory (quest) page states "If you later change your mind" (about joining the Blades) "you can just talk to Jauffre again and choose the topic "Join the Blades" — as long as Jauffre is still alive", but this statement isn't necessarily true. My character initially declined to join the Blades, but later reconsidered. However, the "join the Blades" option in Jauffre's dialogue disappeared. It's not a disposition problem either. In fact, the speechcraft mini-game icon is also gone. Quite strange. (I'm on a PS3)204.108.237.194 10:36, 24 April 2009 (EDT)Marcus

Weynon Priory[edit]

At the conclusion of this quest, I've often found that Weynon Priory becomes a free house of sorts: the beds are public and everything inside can be taken freely.

What I wonder is if this is triggered simply by completing the quest, or is this a side-effect of my character joining the Blades Faction at Cloud Ruler? In other words, are the ownership tags for items in Weynon Priory set for the Blades? —Dark Spark 06:34, 13 January 2008 (EST)

All the beds in Weynon House are unowned except for Jauffre's so you can indeed use them freely. The only things owned by the Blades faction are the two halves of the secret door. –RpehTCE 07:14, 13 January 2008 (EST)
I playtested with a new character and discovered that, if you decline to join the Blades, items in Weynon Priory are marked with a red hand. Reloading the savegame and joining the Blades resulted in making those same items free to take. —Dark Spark 03:11, 19 January 2008 (EST)
Yes, it's odd. I was looking in the CS and most stuff isn't owned but it does indeed show up as such when playing. There must be some other ownership in effect and I don't know enough about the CS to find it out. You can definitely sleep in the beds though. –RpehTCE 04:49, 19 January 2008 (EST)
The ownership flag is set on the building overall, and is indeed set to be owned by the Blades. In the CS, if you edit the WeynonPrioryHouse cell and look at Interior Data you can see the ownership info. --NepheleTalk 11:31, 19 January 2008 (EST)

Jauffre[edit]

Hey, what happens if Jauffre dies during this quest, before you reach Cloud Ruler temple or before you can even talk to him. — Unsigned comment by 124.176.100.77 (talk) on 7 March 2008‎

He can't. Jauffre is essential until The Defense of Bruma quest, so he can't die until then. –Eshetalk15:29, 7 March 2008 (EST)
Wrong, Whilst Jauffre is fighting inside the chappel he is mortal, and if you attack him instead of the mythic dawn, if you are strong enougth you can kill him, and the game will end with the same message as you do when Martin dies but with Jauffre In it's place. - Zuan 3:50 pm 1st september 2009 — Unsigned comment by 92.3.223.242 (talk)

freezes[edit]

after getting to the cloud palace place martin and jeffre go up stairs to the main court yard jeffrey begins to talk and he starts to say sumthn about the blades and after he says "Blah blah blah...Blades" it freezes ive restarted the game several times and even waited for about 5-10 minutes for the game to respond but nothing happens i cant get past this part and i really need to. prior to this however i have done alot of side quests such as, mastering the arena, the mages guild, thieves guild, dark brotherhood, fighters guild and ive done alot more such as gotten the fabled umbra armor and the whole deadric armor + bow & arrows, long sword and claymore, ive also completed the knights of the devine guild as well could any of this be causing my problem? or should i just start from a previous save which is like 5 lvls and alot of quests ago lol oh and im playing on my PS3 if that helps?... so does anyone have a solution — Unsigned comment by Mylastreckoning (talkcontribs) on 15. April 2008

Is your disk scratched at all? how far does he get into the speech? --Volanaro 09:18, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
no disk is clean there was a finger print but i cleaned that and it still freezes right after he says blades it freezes
might it be bcuz i have alot of stuff in the game? such as alot of armor stuffed in my nightmare horse etc? oh and i was there priviously to the quest i stumbled on it then killed alot of ppl there lol but i didnt save when i did that so that shouldnt count lol — Unsigned comment by Mylastreckoning (talkcontribs) on 15. April 2008
this is a bug. i have the xbox 360 version and it keeps freezing at the exact same point as the guy above. my disk isn't scratched and there's very little chance of two people with different consoles getting the exact same problem at the very same point. anyone got any help? i've already finished all the side quests too
would it be connected to the umaril animation glitch? — Unsigned comment by 86.45.112.180 (talk) at 01:07 on 15 April 2009
I have this bug, too. I tried deleting the cash and loading a old save, but still, the game freezes after Martin says "Jaffre" in his speech (after he says "all of you"). I too, came across CRT before the quest and killed a blade to get his armor (I wanted the Emperors ropes so I was saving the main quest for later, but I still wanted the blades armor). However, I did this (kill a blade) with a whole different character (my new character (one that freezes) was made by loading right before exiting the sewers) and the game didn't freeze. Could it be the blade I killed? Perhaps he was going to spar or something but he couldn't because he was dead? I am very angry because I am at level 32 with all but luck and personality increased to 100. Please help. 207.75.214.50 12:56, 19 May 2010 (UTC) non-member: Murtagh
I have the same problem, I have a PS3 and the whole thing freezes. After Marting says "chaos" I can't do anything. Not even the PS3 menu screen will come up. I have to start my whole PS3 up again. — Unsigned comment by 72.28.203.59 (talk) at 19:29 on 20 January 2011

Another Bug?[edit]

when i try to get martin to follow me out of the city of kvatch, he just follows me to the door and stops 15 feet shy. i've tried restarting oblivion, saving and loading, and telling him to wait and follow me. help? 64.230.30.242 23:32, 6 September 2008 (EDT)

Moved from the Article[edit]

  • If the player is quick enough and go into sneak mode before the assassins see you and attack, Eronor will 'report' you and you'll get a bounty for assault, even though the assassins mean to kill him!
Several reasons for moving this. First, there's no indication of exactly when this has to happen or the sequence of events required. Second, do the other NPCs in the area also report you or is it just Eronor? Third, this sounds like pretty standard AI behavior anyway. –RpehTCE 02:40, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Horses[edit]

Are Jauffre's and Martin's horses scripted to return to Weynon Priory at the completion of this quest? Because I found a Weynon Priory Chestnut horse dead in the vicinity of Boreal Stone Cave having just been killed by an Ogre. I went to check at Cloud Ruler Temple and the horses are gone! Wolok gro-Barok 09:18, 15 June 2009 (EDT)

No. Instead they are scripted to remain at/travel to Cloud Ruler Temple. --Timenn < talk > 11:54, 15 June 2009 (EDT)
Okay. I have no idea why they're no longer at Cloud Ruler Temple and why I found a dead Weynon Priory horse at Boreal Stone Cave, but I don't mind really. Thanks! Wolok gro-Barok 11:58, 15 June 2009 (EDT)

Double face on door open cloud ruler temple[edit]

I have what i can only assume is called "double-face" bug as soon as the doors open. I've tested it saving and reloading and it happens around the time the door is opened. Whether its just the guard running down or something else triggering... I have the unofficial patches (as well as official patches) all up to date. Also have shivering isles. I've used the spell ability thats supposed to fix it but it doesn't work. It just says invalid npc. they need to be following you. edit: If i cast it on them before they reach the gate (ie while they're still following me it works fine.) — Unsigned comment by 86.42.210.25 (talk) on 18 July 2009

Jaffre doesn't see Martin[edit]

I have the PC Game of the Year version. I closed the gate and Martin went with me to Weynon Priory. When we get there I talk to Jaffre and he still tells me to rescue Martin. Even though Martin is standing right next to me. I can't go any further into the quest because of this.— Unsigned comment by 24.217.76.57 (talk) at 01:08 on 8 October 2009

You aren't actually supposed to talk to Jauffre to proceed with the quest. The quest update should have occurred as soon as you arrive at Weynon Priory again, where Assassins like the ones that killed the emperor are attacking the Priory. If it didn't, and all is peaceful, try reloading a previous save. --Darkheart 13:04, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Try travelling away from Weynon Priory with Martin, and returning a bit later (on foot). You should be able to trigger the Mythic Dawn attack and be able to continue the quest. --Timenn-<talk> 14:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Attacked[edit]

is it true that if you enter cloud ruler temple without bringing Jauffre or Martin then the blades will attack you on site? Secret Chief 20:00, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Well it is hard to enter , but yes. JackTurbo95 16:05, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Possible Contradiction[edit]

The article says that you get an all hope is lost message if Jauffre dies on this mission, yet his page says he is essential until the defense of bruma, so one of the pages needs to be changed to reflect this. I will tomorrow if no one else does.--68.60.16.174 00:17, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

  • If Jauffre dies during the battle with the assassins, the game ends with the message "You have failed. Jauffre has been slain. All hope is now lost."
I moved it here, place it back if it is wrong, but I am almost certain it is not right. Maybe he says that if you somehow disable his essentialness, but since that doesnt normally happen, it wouldnt be right in the page. — Unsigned comment by 68.60.16.174 (talk) at 00:41 on 13 January 2011
Looks like we oversimplified; Jauffre may die between stages 5 and 20. I'll fix his page. rpeh •TCE 01:04, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I actually never knew he could even die there (I mean, who doesnt do that quest at level 1? :-D)--68.60.16.174 05:36, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

weird Glitch!?[edit]

OK, when I get out of Kvatch with Martin, I go back to weynon priory. Eronor says the priory is under attack, but then when I go to the chapel in Weynon Priory, Only Jauffre is there. Nobody else, not even the mythic dawn soldiers. Then when I go to Cloud Ruler Temple, Jauffre gets the doors open a blade greets him, and then Martin gives the speech, but after that, nothing happens. Jauffre's Disposition is 100 and He won't offer me a chance to become a blade. He doesn't even tell me to find Baurus in the path of the dawn quest. The Quest doesn't even start it just says that the weynon priory quest has been completed, and Everybody is where they should be. Help Please. — Unsigned comment by 75.72.5.173 (talk) at 13:13 on 18 January 2011‎

Freezes[edit]

So, I get to Cloud Ruler Temple and Martin starts saying his speech and boom, it freezes. I have to restart my whole PS3 because my PS3 freezes too. I thought it was because I played it for like 6 hours straight, then after like 5 months of owning the game I decide I want to beat it. Anyways, it's getting annoying and I'm getting pissed at it. — Unsigned comment by Velvet-Burnt-Black (talkcontribs) at 00:37 on 20 January 2011‎

Missing Jauffre[edit]

Well, hear me. So I saved the city of Kvatch and convinced Martin to come with me. We fast travel to Weynon Priory and the monks are attacked. I fight the red robes and then when I enter the chapel, there are only two mythic dawn agents and no Jauffre. I kill them and that's that. Still no sign of Jauffre.

Martin gives the speech about the amulet, and then if you look at the next quest map sign it points to the Cloud's temple, which, if you travel there is closed and bared and you can not enter (martin keeps following me all the time).

I tried over and over again to go back before reaching the weynon priory and find Jeoffre.

What should I do? — Unsigned comment by 77.165.202.13 (talk) at 19:44 on 18 October 2011‎

Autosave[edit]

I'm close to finishing the game, I just need to take Martin to temple so he can light the Dragonfires. As soon as I walked out the door is said he been slain and makes me load the game back from the last save. After I load it back it puts me outside the door and the message that he's been slain just keeps popping no matter how many times I load the game. Is there any way to fix this without starting a new game? — Unsigned comment by 67.184.247.94 (talk) at 00:10 on November 7, 2011

You have to load a save from earlier, and hope that it happens differently next time. In general, the main quest gets fairly difficult as you level up, due to the advantage given to creatures over NPCs as levels increase. So if you have no choice but to go back far, then it is beneficial to finish the main quest earlier rather than later. It is also a good idea to save often when doing the main quest, as the unexpected can always happen. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 17:09, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Jauffre will not follow me to Cloud Ruler Temple[edit]

After he realizes that The Amulet of kings is missing he talks about taking Martin and himself to Cloud Ruler Temple. When I'm done talking to him he says something along the lines of "We should move on to Cloud Ruler Temple, I will not rest until Martin is safe." However, he doesnt give the option to follow or wait, and will not follow me. Martin will follow me, but Jauffre wont. No matter what I do, he just wont budge. I've tried going to Cloud Ruler Temple and waiting to see if he will travel there on his on but no luck. I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, I've seen others with it to. Is there anyway to fix this? — Unsigned comment by 74.102.180.102 (talk) at 20:51 on 25 November 2011‎

My Spin on Situation
I had Sir Lathon(kotN-GOTY-PS3) with me when i went back to do this. After talking to Jauffre, I went outside but Jauffre didn't follow, nor did i nottice he was planned to. End result is arriving at Cloud Ruler with Lathon and Martin in tow, but Jauffre wiped from face of existence. Fast traveled to Bruma, then back to priory. I hand checked every corpse and Jauffre was not one of them. I walked out to stables and got Maborel's horse, which was only one there. After several more trips to assorted areas, i returned to priory and stood in the archway between stables and priory whille searching online for a cause. After camera kicked to the 3rd person idle, Jauffre and his horse bumped me from behind. He'll fasttravel with you then(most times, so save before trying), as long as he stays on his horse and you have Maborel's horse. not a perfect fix but it works.
btw. went back to the save prior to him reappearing, this time had to chase the sheep around till Jauffre, horse and all blinked in to existence by blinking the stable hand out of existence — Unsigned comment by 74.212.16.197 (talk) at 03:53 on 19 December 2011

No offer to join the Blades[edit]

Jauffre doesn't ask me to join the blades after I speak to Martin once he's done his speech. He just goes straight into the rest of the dialogue options, ie. Amulet of Kings, Dragonfires, Cloud Ruler Temple, these options are there, with no dialogue to join the blades. This may be due to me having (possibly) accidentally killed Piner at Weynon Priory and taking his katana. This is on PS3. Any fix for this? 94.13.132.119 20:50, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

this happened on xbox for me 98.91.7.65 15:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
This can happen if his disposition towards you is too low. Maybe you have a low personality or you accidentally hit him in battle. Try increasing hi disposition with a charm spell. RIM 15:20, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
