Respawn time[edit]

So at Vilverin for example, I kill the two bandits outside. Then how long can I use that outside area of the ruins as my 'house' before having to kill them again?— Unsigned comment by 65.68.182.168 (talk) at 23:27 on 9 May 2010 (GMT)

not extzactly sure but i think 3 days— Unsigned comment by GUM!!! (talkcontribs) at 00:29 on 10 May 2010 (GMT)
It depends on the person. Standard enemies will respawn in three days, but others, like the Dark Brotherhood Murderer, take a week.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:40, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Ground[edit]

If you were to drop stuff on the ground, anywhere, would it get respawned and disappear?--99.237.118.215 12:48, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

No. It would stay forever. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 15:14, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
I thought if you drop stuff in dungeons, they reset when the cell resets. — Unsigned comment by Dtmwerks (talkcontribs) at 22:09 on 6 March 2011 (GMT)
I am experimenting with doing this. I find that items dropped outdoors vanish the moment you leave the area. Items dropped anywhere inside a city are "safe" -- you can drop an entire warehouse of expensive goods in the center of the IC Market District and pick them all up again whenever you want. They are never stolen or vanish. Dropping things inside houses you do not own, shops, Inns, and inside guild halls also seems perfectly safe -- but might make them harder to get to. The only really dangerous place to put things seems to be in unsafe containers.

Force a chest to respawn with console?[edit]

Is it possible to force a chest to reset with a console command? (without waiting for 72 hours in another cell) --89.240.251.197 17:20, 1 January 2013 (GMT)

I'm not sure there's a "respawn" command like what you're looking for, though maybe disabling and re-enabling it would work? Alternatively, the article gives instructions for altering the respawn time—you could set it to an hour or something, if you like. eshetalk 15:59, 16 January 2013 (GMT)

Clams not entirely safe[edit]

I have OOO 1.33 and just ran into an Imperial Legion Forester visiting the clam where I store my alchemy ingredients and taking all the venison I stored there. Did anybody else know this? Is this just OOO behavior? — Unsigned comment by 75.157.91.79 (talk) at 00:02 on 20 February 2013

Food[edit]

It is referenced more than once in this Wiki that food respawns. Of course we're not talking about food in a container, else the entire container will respawn, not just the food inside the container. So food outside, as clutter, on a table for example, respawns? In Oblivion: Respawns page, it states: "Ingredients that are considered as food can be found in most houses or dining areas. These samples will eventually respawn.". The sweetroll page for Oblivion also notes something like this. So food clutter respawns? What other things do or do not respawn? Dark wizzie (talk) 05:17, 4 July 2014 (GMT)Dark_wizzie

yes could we get some clarity on this? It would be nice to know that I can now take food items off tables to use instead of it all being decor because once its gone its gone--71.34.13.176 21:37, 18 April 2015 (GMT)
Yes, food outside containers respawns. The only exception is food that you drop yourself. —Legoless (talk) 22:10, 18 April 2015 (GMT)

Does drinks respawn?[edit]

Does wine, beer and other drinks respawn? I have experienced that when I raid an entire food table (minus plates, knives, forks, and spoons) and come back to do it again, the wine is missing. — Unsigned comment by 80.89.51.223 (talk) at 16:52 on 26 April 2015 (GMT)

As far as I am aware objects visible in the actual game world once picked up will not respawn. The only time a cell like a house may not be how you left it is if you knock objects over without picking them up, then when the cell resets they should go back to their original positions. If you want wine etc to respawn, take it from certain containers. --Manic (talk) 16:56, 26 April 2015 (GMT)
If the drinks are marked as 'food', then they'll respawn. See the above section. —Legoless (talk) 19:03, 26 April 2015 (GMT)

Anvil Mage's Guild chests[edit]

I have been storing all of my items inside two chests on the third-floor of the Anvil Mage's Guild, and nothing has ever disappeared. I don't know if this is unique to Anvil, but this is a lot more convenient than dumping 1,000 ingredients, potions and other equipment all over the floor, or putting things inside a clam. I can come here to store new weapons and ingredients, make new potions, buy stuff from the guild, recharge weapons, sleep and be on my way - all in one place. And Morvayn's Peacemakers is right across the street, offering one of the highest bartering limits for weapons, armor and staffs. 47.16.86.238 13:11, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Titania
