Oblivion:Mirabelle Monet a double life?[edit]

I'm restarting a new game and will try to find Mirabelle Monet in A cave where I've met her before. I think it was in the Dark Brotherhood hideout, in Cheydinhal, while I was buzy slauthering them all (her as well). This game isn't going to be a short one (as usual) so be patient or investigate. Mirabelle Monet Schedule Project[edit]

Okay, she was supposed to be hard to do, as she has six random AI packages, so I decided to give her a thorough in-game check to see, if I at least could be somewhat helpful. I checked her on three full days and additionally checked her nighttime behavior four times.

The first two cues seems to be fixed, as she did the same thing on three different days:

  • 8am: Eats breakfast at the Flowing Bowl.
  • 10am: Browsing Lelles Quality Mercandise.
  • 12pm: Heads back to the Flowing Bowl Private Rooms (and unlocks the door on her way), offers training. Here, however, I had to give up, as she is a “follower” (i.e. she follows you around when you enter). I did some waiting outside, and on more than one occasion (but at different times) she left, strolled down the dock a bit, and returned. Seems like some weird package interrupts something here, but I haven’t got a clue which one. This behavior continues until midnight.
  • 12am: On all three nights, she would actively seek out Krognak gro-Brok and follow him around until 4am, which means she will be present in the background while Thurindir and Hauls-Ropes-Faster fights.
  • 4am: Here it gets interesting, and the following is based on seven nights of testing: On 7 out of 7 nights, she will sleep with Thurindil at 4am.
  • 6am: Getting tired of Thurindil, she will get out of bed and pick another sailor to sleep with. Out of 7 nights in total, she will get into bed with: Anguilon (4 nights) Krognak gro-Brok (3 nights). Poor Timothee LaRouche never gets lucky (even if he brags about it) – because apparently, he always sleeps in the side of the bed where Mirabelle is supposed to be. I had her enter his room four times, and she always turned around and picked another sailor.

That’s it from me. I don’t think anything else can be tested in-game at this point, so I’m eagerly awaiting the CS conclusions. Krusty 16:44, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Btw, maybe it's worth mentioning, that Mirabelle is incapable of entering any of the rooms, unless somebody unlocks them for her? I have no idea, why this happens (Anguilon has the same problem) as she owns all the keys necessary to unlock the doors, but she can't use them. Krusty 18:33, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
There, I am finally getting back at you. Here's what I can see:
  • 8am-10am: Breakfast at The Flowing Bowl, every day.
  • 10am-12pm: Wandering around in Lelles' Quality Merchandise, every day.
  • 12pm: (Are you not referring to The Fo'c's'le? There is a 50% chance she will start wandering around in the main cell (not the Private Quarters), otherwise she wanders around The Private Quarters. These fallback packages should last until 12am. There needs to be checked whether she swaps between these two schedules during it duration (12pm - 12am).
Now there are various "sleeping with" packages, with random chances, and more frustrating, different starting times (in order of priority):
  • 2am-8am - Timothee LaRouche - 40% - Package must be completed.
  • 4am-10am - Anguilon - 40% - Package must be completed (so no breakfast).
  • 4am-10am - Thurindil - 40% - Package must be completed (so no breakfast).
  • 0am-6am - Krognak gro-Brok - 40% - Package must be completed.
  • 0am-6am - Fallback scenarion, sleeps alone. Package doesn't have to be competed, so it appears this can be interrupted during its run.
  • 6am-12am - Hauls-Ropes-Faster - 40% - Now this is something you may not have yet encountered. You may need to double-check this, but since the fallback packages of Mirabelle wandering around The Fo'c's'le can occur at any point of the day, and have a higher priority, I think this package is never addressed.
I hope this helps you make some sense as for what you have seen happen. --Timenn-<talk> 12:28, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the list, Timenn! She's a tough one, no doubt. She will sometimes skip her 8am breakfast (still haven't figured that out, as I've had her skip breakfast while sleeping with Anguilon one day and not the next) and get out of bed at 10am. Her visit at Lelle's seems to be the only "certain" thing in her entire day. And you're right about the 12pm-12am thing. She WILL pay occasional visits to the other cell in The Fo'c's'le (a totally random times), but that's pretty easy to write. Now for the nights; I'm 100% sure that Krognak always wins the battle of the packages at midnight. And that it will keep running until 4am. And I'm also 100% positive, that Thurindil wins the first round in bed. BUT she gets out of Thurindil's bed at 6am (every night) and changes to another sailor. And I can't see why she does that from your list. Does it say somewhere, that it only lasts two hours? Also, the reason Hauls-Ropes-Faster never gets picked is probably that he is not even in bed at 6am - he is on his way to bed, but that doesn't cut it for Mirabelle. So I have a couple of quick questions:
  • Why is Thurindil always winning the first round at 4am? I remember reading a discussion where it was mentioned that she prefers him slightly over the others (it also says so on her page), but I can't remember where the discussion is. DOES he have a slightly bigger percentage than the others?
  • Why does she get out of bed at 6am?
  • Why does Timothee not get any? Is it because of ownership of the beds (my own theory, as I know Isolde will sleep next to Timothee before she gets killed)
  • Why does she sleep with Krognak at 6am - when his package only runs until 6am? Could that be her fallback package kicking in - and when she doesn't have an empty bed available, she just picks one of the sailors anyway?
  • And why does she break the packages that "must be completed"?
I hope you can answer just a few of these questions. Other than the most obvious problems, I think I can write her page in the near future... Krusty 21:20, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, I can answer at least some of these questions, and if I'm right, they all inter-connect, essentially answering all your questions, though it'll take some experimenting to be certain.
  • First, whichever package she ultimately winds up with, she will find a bed near that person...not necessarily their bed. This leads to a situation where she appears to be sleeping with one person, but as far as her AI is concerned, she's actually sleeping with someone else. For some reason, the bed she chooses almost always seems to be Thurindil's bed. It doesn't appear to be an ownership problem, as all the beds are owned by AnvilFaction, which she's a member of. I suspect it might be a pathing problem; I'll do further testing.
  • She's scheduled to possibly sleep with Krognak from midnight for 6 hours. But Krognak doesn't sleep till 4, so she goes off in search of him and stays with him, whatever he's doing. Since the package is re-evaluated frequently, it's very likely that she'll try to sleep with him (even though it may not appear that way, as mentioned above). This explains why she gets up at 6am: she thinks she's sleeping with Krognak, even if it's Thurindil's bed she's sleeping in, so she "sleeps" from midnight to 6 and then gets up. Once she's up, she re-evaluates packages, possibly going right back to sleep, technically with someone else, but again usually choosing Thurindil's bed.
  • If it is indeed a pathing problem, this could indicate why she sometimes sleeps in Krognak's bed at 6am: now that he's up, the path to the side of the bed he was sleeping on is open and easy to get to, so she randomly picks a bed "nearby" whomever she's supposed to sleep with and since she can now get to this bed, she does.
Quite probably unrelated to the above, Thurindil does indeed have a slightly bigger percentage than the others, but keep in mind that these percentages are taken in order, so it really becomes a percentage of a percentage of a percentage of (you get the idea).... So, ignoring the buggered up sleeping times for a moment, even though Thurindil's got a 50% chance, where the others get only 40%, because he's third on the list that's actually 50% of (100-40)% of (100-40)%, or 18%.
There, quite simple, really, isn't it? :-S —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 04:44, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) Okay, a little more testing done, and I can safely say it's not a pathing problem. My guess is that it's a problem in the algorithm to pick beds when there's more than one available. I moved Anguilon's sleeping location from the bed itself to a marker on the far side of his bed, expecting him to go to sleep on that side. Much to my surprise, however, he changed his sexual orientation and went to sleep with Thurindil, just like Mirabelle was doing, ignoring his own bed altogether! Once Mirabelle got there, she went in and found them sleeping together, decided she didn't want to get involved, and picked Anguilon's bed to sleep in instead.

Oh and just for added fun, you get a Schrödinger's cat type of scenario going on here as well — in other words, observing or not observing the event changes the outcome (though the cat scenario is actually a little more complex, leading to a paradox). In this case, if you're not in the Fo'c's'le, it seems that Mirabelle won't come out of it to follow Krognak, even when that's clearly the package she's selected and she's supposed to be following him. If you enter the Fo'c's'le, though, she realizes she shouldn't be in it and leaves, thus altering her behaviour because you were watching her. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 05:20, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Okay, this one's all fixed in my mod as well now, though I used a slightly different concept in order to get her to sleep around a little more evenly. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:49, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey RH, thanks for all the work - I have been a bit busy, so I haven't really had time to go through all the observations. I'll try to narrow it all down tomorrow - and hopefully, we can get a schedule written (plus the nessecary notes/bug notes) as soon as possible. --Krusty 00:18, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, here is an attempt to sum up all the observations and simplify them into a schedule – which raises some final questions:
  • 10am: Always visits Lelle’s Merchandise
  • 12pm: Spends twelve hours in the Fo’c’s’le Private Rooms. Makes occasional visits to the other part of the inn. If the door to the Private Rooms is locked, then she will be in the other area. Offers training at all times.
  • 12am: Seeks out Krognak gro-Brok. If not, she can be found at the inn. Watches the fight with him.
  • 4am: Picks Thurindil to sleep with (I have never seen her do anything else).
  • 6am: Picks one of the other sailors, either Krognak or Anguilon. Never picks Timothee LaRouche, for reasons not yet discovered. Never picks Hauls-Ropes-Faster – reason could be, that he doesn’t go to bed before 6am and as a result will be ”late” for Mirabelle to sleep with him.
  • 8am: 50/50 % chance she gets up and eats breakfast at The Flowing Bowl. Why not always? Does it depend on, who she is ”sleeping” with/who the AI thinks she is sleeping with?
I think the best and easiest way is to write Mirabelle’s schedule as if all of the seamen is still alive. If we start killing them off, it will be waaay to complicated. However, it would be useful to add a note explaining exactly WHAT is going on during the night. I hope you’re up for the task RH? And another thing: Can she be considered ”bugged” or is she just a victim of way too many packages? Krusty 11:28, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I have been most interested in Mirabelle's sleeping habits, creepy as that may sound, so I'm pretty much certain that my information is correct. I have watched the innrooms for 3 months gametime. I have a Construction Set and the first patch, but no other patches.

•She will always sleep with Thurindil first, except due to the oddness I mention in Anguilion's section, and even if he somehow dies she still picks his bed.

After she wakes up, she will randomly pick a sailor. Here is where I have had to study carefully.

•Hauls-Rope-Faster is not usually her choice (drunk Argonians aren't her thing, perhaps?) but out of the 3 months that I surveyed the inn, she picked his bed 16% of the time- a minority, but still possible. If HRF somehow dies, she will not pick his bed no matter what.
•Timothee LaRouche is a curious one. He can be "chosen" by Mirabelle, but she will never sleep with him due to the fact that he is, literally, waking up on the wrong side of the bed. It appears to me due to the fact he sleeps on Mirabelle's side. Thus, if he is the supposed lucky guy, she will walk into his room, stand by his bed for a few seconds, before walking out. This may repeat itself several times before she accepts the fact he will not roll over and picks another sailor, usually Krognak gro-Bok.
•Anguilon is the second-most commonly picked random sailor. Not much mystery about this bloke, save if you try to meddle with the Construction Set, or if Krognak turns up dead, he will go a little odd. If this happens before Mirabelle goes up to bed, she'll find Anguilion has beaten her to the punch and is sleeping with Thurindil. After wandering around for a while, she eventually picks her random sailor. Note that she may still pick Angulion's bed; he just won't be in it. If you play with the Set while she is sleeping with Thurindil, Anguilion will walk into their room, stare at them for a while, before wandering randomly around the rooms, occasionally marching back into rooms and striking up conversations with the apparantly sleeping people. (This is a common glitch that happens to me a lot.)
•Krognak gro-Bok is her second favourite; she picks him most out of all the sailors after finishing up with Thurindil. If for some reason he is not sleeping in the inn, she will still pick his bed, he just won't be in it.

This is what my watches show me. Make of it what you will. ((In case anyone wants to know who I am spying on now, I am observing the behaviors of the Mythic Dawn Acolytes that live in cities, i.e Else God-Hater and henceforth, both before and after the Main Quest.) 121.221.82.105 14:13, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the input - seems like we more or less agree on what (or maybe the correct term is "who") Mirabelle does at night. Always Thurindil first and either Krognak or Anguilon second. Her picking Hauls-Ropes-Faster is so rare that he probably end up in the notes, even though I have seen them sleep together as well. As stated above, I too have seen Mirabelle turn around when she enters Timothee's room, but it would be cool if somebody could check this behavior in the CS - and determine why it happens. As RobinHood stated above, there is no "ownership" on the beds, so him sleeping in the wrong side sounds weird - even though I was sure pretty sure about the bedsides as well. Nevertheless, thanks again. Krusty 14:28, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Just a bit of a clarification here that who she sleeps with is something of an illusion. As the anonymous poster mentioned, even after she picks one person, she may go sleep in another person's bed. In point of fact, she still thinks she's sleeping with the original person, and will follow whatever schedule is laid out for that person. Following that logic, she will then wake up at 6 if she thinks she's sleeping with Krognak, 8 if it's Timothee, or 10 if it's Thurindil or Aguilon. Technically speaking, she can never sleep with HRF due to the fact that she'd hit a Wander package as having a priority, however due to the unexplained oddities in how the game chooses where she sleeps, it may appear as though she's sleeping with him anyway. If she were in fact sleeping with him, she wouldn't wake up until noon. I hope that makes sense.
As for considering Mirabelle as bugged, there are some definite bugs in her schedule, like the HRF bug and the Krognak bug (where she's "sleeping" with him while he's still awake), so it wouldn't be wrong to say that. But I think the larger bug is in how the game is choosing beds for her (which would be a broader problem than just her). There seems to be no logic to it that I can work out. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 20:36, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
So the 50/50 % chance of her eating at The Flowing Bowl looks like an okay way to put it when we get to the writing. I think she is nailed now - except for one thing; How come Timothee never gets lucky? He's even the only one bragging about it! :D --Krusty 20:43, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I did as you said, Krusty, returned to the Inn, and checked Timothee's profile with the CS. From what I've seen, -and this may be just my game- when Mirabelle beds a sailor, there is a minor hiccup in the system, which expresses in my game as a millisecond pause. I didn't notice this before as it was so small and it happens often, but according to the gamecode, Timothee's bed shifts positions, causing a bug with Mirabelle, who will pad into his room and, due to the fact its' shifted, not see it. I don't know exactly where it moves, but its location code definatly changed. That's my ten cents. 121.221.82.105

@IP: Where/how did you see that? That might explain both this bug and another one that I've been trying to figure out. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:30, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Just to follow up on this, I've just checked using the Console and I see no evidence that the beds ever move. Robin Hoodtalk 18:54, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Mirabelle Monet - Mystic dawn sleeper?[edit]

Unless I'm completely mistaken (I might be) she was one of the Mystic Dawn sleepers who attacked me. I didn't see any mention of that on the wiki page though... — Unsigned comment by 81.156.52.191 (talk) on 16 February 2010

I'm afraid you're mistaken - she's nothing to do with the Mythic Dawn. rpeh •TCE 18:11, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
I think you're getting her confused with Isolde, another pirate who wanders the Anvil Docks.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:52, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Wandering Outside Anvil[edit]

On the 1st of Heartfire, at 10:23 AM in-game time, I found her wandering around the outside of the Brina Cross Inn. She seemed headed for Kvatch. I talked to her, she had nothing new to say, then she turned around and headed back towards Anvil. --66.168.77.22 18:18, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
