Agnar's Journal

I'm curious as to just how Agnar's Journal works as a marker book. I can see in the CS that the book has a DiveRockScript that adds these three markers. But my in-game experience has been that these markers aren't added when you pick up and read the book, but rather when you walk out to the end of Dive Rock. And the script does include code about "getdistance DiveRockMarker <= 100". I think some checks need to be done to figure out what exact combination of factors are needed here. --Nephele 17:54, 20 September 2006 (EDT)

Okay, on closer inspection, it does seem that it is not reading the book that does it. However, the script that adds those markers is on the book, even if it doesn't behave the same way as other skill books. Generally this sort of thing is usually done with an activator, hidden underneath the ground. It's somewhat odd that the book is used in this case. I'd imagine that it would probably be impossible to get close enough to the book to pick it up without activating the script, however. Maybe if it were tested with a high-powered Telekinesis spell, but still I'd imagine the script on the book would run even if you had a copy in your possession even before you approached Dive Rock. (Though without cheating, that's of course not possible.) Anyhow, the "Marker Books" section looked a little bit lonely, so I figured I'd add it. Although I agree that the Marker Books list is pretty short, I think it may ultimately be misleading to list Agnar's Journal here. I just doublechecked, and when you're playing the game, there is no apparent connection between the journal and the map markers. If you never pick up the journal, and just walk straight to the end of Dive Rock, you get the map marker message. On the other hand, if you pick up the journal, read it, and then turn around without going to the lookout point, you'll never get the map markers. --Nephele 21:38, 20 September 2006 (EDT)
