Wear safely the Cowl

You can safely wear the Cowl if you can manage to have 100% (or more) Chameleon (it should be quite easy when level 18-20). As you're "invisible", you can walk in front of guards (or even pick pockets them)...just wear it off when you need to talk to people...

I've done that in many of my games. Even though you are invisible, the guards can still confront you if you are caught pickpocketing. They'll pull out their swords and bows, but won't attack you on account they can't see you. Just dispatch them and you should be able to escape safely.

Cowl Infamy Glitch

Yeah, so, somehow, when I don the Grey Cowl, I have a fame of 1439...I don’t recall ever wearing it during any major quests, so any idea how this happened? Just some arbitrary glitch?

Does the cowl truly not fool shivering isles guards or is it that it only affects Tamriel infamy/bounty? --62.163.51.178 18:32, 4 June 2007 (EDT)

Cowl + Pilgrimage?

What happens if you wear the Cowl and on a Pilgrimage? Infamy for the Grey Fox... 0? Or does it reset in a few hours? — Unsigned comment by 69.64.10.249 (talk)

If you're wearing the gray cowl, you're not allowed to use the Wayshrines and therefore can't do the Pilgrimage. If you try to use a wayshrine you get a message "The gods are not mocked! They require an honest heart, not one hidden behind a false face.” On top of that, each time you put on the cowl it makes sure that the cowl's infamy is at least 100. So setting the cowl's infamy to zero is doubly impossible. --Nephele 01:46, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
Hmm… interesting. Thanks.

- I killed a guard in Skingrad and entered my house, so I took of the cowl and "surrendered". The guards went away, but now every time I try to fast-travel, it says that guards are looking for me. This is very irritating is there a fix for it? (I'm a Xbox360 user though) - Thingey

I had a similar problem, but different cause. Pickpocket a guard, and let him catch you. Then pay the bounty, and you'll reappear outside the prison. This should have reset the flag for the guards chasing you. -Lordsword 8 05:23, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

Cowl + Conjured Armor Bug?

I can't confirm that this is the cause of the bug, but the other day I conjured some armor on me while wearing the cowl, and once the conjured armor vanished, and I removed my cowl, my fame and infamy points were the same as if I was still wearing the cowl. I also kept the Gray Fox bounty, which sucked because it was huge.

Ref." I killed a guard in Skingrad and entered my house, so I took of the cowl and "surrendered". The guards went away, but now every time I try to fast-travel, it says that guards are looking for me."

-I've had this happen also. I've had Anvil guards chase me to Imperial city before. It's rediculous. They take forever to track you down, and saving and reloading doesn't fix the problem.

Dont take the cowl off before the guards arrest you or try and kill you. Just wear the cowl untill the guard stops you and then remove it and yeild then they'll go away like nothing ever happened. Da Gray Fox 00:04, 13 June 2008 (EDT)

Loses Bounty after Main Quest?

This line:

If you complete the final main quest (Light the Dragonfires)with the Gray Cowl on, it could cause the Cowl to lose all it's bounty, making it wearable in front of guards in public.

has recently been added to the article. My first concern is that this seems to contradict Nephele's assertion that putting the cowl on always resets your infamy to 100 - and contradicting Nephele is rarely sensible. Secondly, it contains the weasel phrase "could cause" meaning even the author is uncertain. Does anybody have any more information on this? --RpehTalk 05:51, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

...Well if you get rid of the bounty (By raising your bounty above 500 and going to a doyen.) I suppose you'd be all right...

Not exactly true. Whenever I wear the cowl and go to a doyen, it is impossible to pay the bounty. So I don't know. --Innocent Bystander 11:56, 29 February 2008 (EST)

I Lost My Cowl!

I was arrested for killing people and then the guards took my cowl...is there any way to get it back???

They should give it back to you when you are released from prison, or if you choose to escape you can find it in the evidence chest, which will be near the exit from the prison complex you're in. --RpehTCE 05:10, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

I lost mine in the shivering isles while i was sheaogorath and it was marked stolen. do you know of any way to get it back?Corevette789 19:00, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

(My Cowl dissapeared when I dropped it, luckily I saved beforehand, I then stored it in my house, and when I came back it had gone! When I dropped it, it went straight through the ground! When I stored the Cowl, it just ceased to exist!124.177.1.84 22:14, 17 January 2010 (UTC))

How Many Cowls are in the Game?

I would like to know how many cowls are in the game

One. --RpehTCE 05:10, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
So what happens if you steal it from him, then complete the last quest for the Gray Fox. Does he give you nothing? --piercethetruth
According to lore, there is only one cowl. And the game scripts are setup so that during normal gameplay it will appear as if there is only one cowl. In terms of how the game really functions, however, there are in fact multiple cowls. For example, there are three versions of the cowl sitting in testing warehouses that technically exist at all times during gameplay. And the game scripts almost never work by moving an item from one person to another. Rather the scripts execute one command removing the item from one person, and then execute a second command that adds an item to the player. So the scripts create and destroy items all the time. The upshot is that stealing the cowl from the gray fox will not really have any overall effect on the game. --NepheleTalk 02:11, 14 November 2007 (EST)
The upshot is that stealing the cowl from the gray fox will not really have any overall effect on the game.
So, does that mean you get another Cowl, or that the one you have is "replaced" by the one he gives you? --Debatra 18:44, 2 December 2008 (EST)
Just checked this out. To be slightly more direct than the above answer: if you've stolen the Cowl from The Gray Fox before the end of the final quest, you will receive a second one. The game does not check or remove the first (and why would it?). The only difference between them is that one is stolen. Makes a great house decoration, BTW. 71.56.131.213 04:05, 14 February 2009 (EST)

I've been thinking of that too. In my last game, I didn't steal the cowl, but rather I used the permanent clone glitch on myself using the skull of corruption. Once I killed my clone, saved, reloaded, and took my CLONES cowl, when I put it on it registered as me being the gray fox, but whenever I killed someone my characters infamy went up. Not the gray foxes! I'm wondering, if I stole his cowl then received a new one, would that mess it up, or what? — Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 20:42 on 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Since no-one has answered this question since LAST YEAR, I think I will.. Everything in your clones inventory has had the scripts removed, another example is Nirnroot, try giving nirnroot you have "cloned" to Sinderion he acts as if you have no nirnroots whatsoever. So the script that makes you gray fox has been removed on THAT cowl, I'd recommend you use the " broken " cowl as a decoration or something.. --VergilSparda 11:29, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Effectiveness of Feather not 100%

As I have been playing as the Grey Fox, the effective feather applied to my character is reducing. I noticed it once it got down to 137 feather and now it's down to 124.

Since the cowl has not health and the effectiveness of the detect life is not reducing, I can only conclude something else is effecting it. The only 2 variables I can think of are fame and level. I have 54 fame right now as the Grey Fox.

If there is another reason for this and if I can reverse this garbage, please let me know.

Or... you're carrying less? It's not affected by level or game. Feather has a glitch associated with it. See this entry for more information. That might be your problem. —RpehTCE 16:32, 19 December 2007 (EST)

Yeah that worked- I went to the store and bought as much as I could. Once I reequipped the cowl, my feather was at 200.

No thieves guild but Cowl and Boots?

I just heard this on gamefaqs and apparently, it works from what everyone else says. On ps3 and Xbox 360 too.

Go to Jakben Earl of Imbel's house in the talos plaza district. Assault him once and wait for him to equip his armor when he does this he will unequip the boots of Springheel Jack. Once he is fully equipped, knock him out "he won't die he is considered quest related". Now pick pocket the boots. When The boots are in your inventory you will get journal entry telling you to go to Ganthredels house in Cheydihal. You now have a bounty of 40 pay it off the boots will stay in your inventory because they are quest related. Now you must use the bound item glitch. Summon a bound helm get it damaged repair and drop. Pick it up when the spell is over. Now go to Cheydinhal if you’re not already there. Reverse pick pocket the bound helm and punch the crook in the face. He will now equip the helm and go 100% Chameleon. Now knock him out and pick pocket the cowl. You will have a bounty of 40 pay it off the cowl will be gone from your inventory. Go to the evidence chest and steal it back and, voilia!, you have the cowl and Springheel's boots without joining the thieves guild. It only took about 10 minutes to do so.

Shouldn't this be placed in glitches?--Puddle 12:55, 29 February 2008 (EST)

How would that affect the questline if you actually joined the thieves guild?Master264 16:28, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
I cast "Ahjazda's Paranoia" on him, giving me the right to beat him up without getting a bounty. I then stole the cowl as he woke up. For folks like me with poor sneak skills who don't want to risk the infamy of an assault, a good Frenzy spell may help. xoxo Coryl 27 November 2008
It would probably have the same effect as the Temple of the Ancestor Moths glitch. --Debatra 18:40, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Gray Fox effect

Since I can't play for about a week, I am really curious. When I complete the quest and officially get my Cowl, does my Argonian look like 'The Gray Fox' when I put it on? As in: does he 'become' an imperial, or will I keep seeing a red chin and orange eyes through the cowl where the posters in the IC still show half an imperial's face? — Unsigned comment by Korunox (talkcontribs)

I'm not quite sure. I used to be an Argonian, but I got a new game as an Imperial, because T.G. wouldn't work on my original file. It should stay the same as in "red chin and orange eyes through the cowl", but yeah the posters will stay the same. Because if you look at them, they say, "presumed male and Imperial", so yeah, you will definitely stay the same. Innocent Bystander 12:05, 29 February 2008 (EST)

When you put on the cowl while Argonian, the cowl will stretch to cover your face. This often results in the eyeholes being near your nose but otherwise doesn't effect gameplay. I have tested it several times in the past.Miceypoo@aol.com — Unsigned comment by 66.124.247.197 (talk)

Cowl + Glitch + Pilgrimage?

If the wearer of the Cowl is to use a "Permanent Quest Item Effect Glitch" on the Cowl, the Cowl can be removed, but the wearer is stuck with the bounty and infamy. Is it possible to clear the Cowl by using the glitch, then completing Pilgrimage? Innocent Bystander 20:35, 4 March 2008 (EST)

If the game believes that you are wearing the cowl, you cannot do the pilgrimage: you cannot activate any of the wayshrines with the cowl on. --NepheleTalk 01:38, 20 April 2008 (EDT)

A stranger

Can you steal the cowl from "the stranger"(the fox without the cowl) without even beginning the quest. I think he lives in Anvil, that old house. Da Gray Fox 00:07, 13 June 2008 (EDT)

No on my game he had a very good leveled sword but hasn't got the cowl 62.136.209.34 11:52, 13 June 2008 (EDT)

Nah, I'm pretty sure he won't have a Cowl of Nocturnal, but you can reverse-pickpocket him later on when you meet him in other Thieves' Houses, give him a hood or something and leave the house, wait an hour, then reenter the house and he should have the hood you gave him equipped, then just steal the hood from him (hope I didn't spoil anything for you). Daedic Prince 20:48, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Disposition modifiers

If you commit crimes with the Gray cowl of Nocturnal, does it affect an NPC's disposition towards your "real" character. I noticed that when I attack a guard with the cowl then take it off, his disposition remains the same, yet when I murder other guards in front of the guard with the cowl then take it off, his disposition is reduced. I haven't tested this on non-guard NPCs though. --TheTamrielTerror 09:28, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Cowl Problems

I am having problems using the cowl right off the bat. When i first put it on i couldn't remove the bounty from Armand, he wouldn't give me the option to pay it off. Also when i am by any guard they charge me and say "your the grey fox, you are wanted for...all kinds of thing, wanted dead or alive and it will be easier dead" then my only option is Resist Arrest. If i then take off the cowl and summit they kill me. i have tryed the drop the cowl in jail and get arrested but that has not worked. Also i have tryed raising my bounty by attacking someone with the cowl on then trying to clear my bounty with Armad...nothing works. Does this mean i can never wear the cowl anywhere near a guard or i will always get attacked? Can anyone answer what to do to fix this please. — Unsigned comment by Nisha (talkcontribs)

Read the page, you should find your answer there... --BenouldTC 15:49, 29 June 2008 (EDT)

I have tried what the page says, it got me no where. Like i said, i am not given the option to pay off my fine when i talk to Aramand...it shows i have a bounty but cannot pay it. Also like i said i cannot get the jail trick to work...i have left the cowl in the cell i get put in however it is never there when i get put into it, it disapears for whatever reason...i am not sure whatelse to try.— Unsigned comment by 24.180.153.152 (talk)

Are you sure you are placing the Cowl in the right cell? It should be there. As for paying it off, I believe that was fixed with one of the patches... maybe. Not everyone can do it. Vesna 12:56, 30 June 2008 (EDT)
Try paying it off with S'Krivva. --Debatra 12:33, 28 November 2008 (EST)

I'm pretty sure you cannot get rid of the bounty that appears when you put on the Cowl. You become the Gray Fox, the notorious criminal! Guards are always going to try to arrest you when you are the Gray Fox. It's part of the game. But once you take it off you should be back to whatever bounty you had prior to putting on the Cowl.

Stolen Cowl

So... based on above comments. The stolen Cowl is useless?? 173.32.11.67 07:01, 13 October 2008 (EDT) (Helper Unknown)

Not according to other reports the section of this article was based on. The Cowl the Gray Fox wears is the same as the one you receive later, so it should work as intended. --Timenn < talk > 09:11, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Gray Cowl and Chameleon "Bug"

This has been "needing verification" for a long time, so having seen that someone deleted it and it was put back, I decided to have a look into it myself. I can't see anything in the CS for the Gray Cowl that would affect chameleon. I used the console to create a 100% chameleon outfit and donned the cowl, and nothing - as you can see in this picture, my character is wearing the cowl and has 100% Chameleon. She has been able to run circles around and kill a guard with the (unenchanted) Blade of Woe, all the while having the guard saying "Where are you?" (I'd previously spoken to the guard, so he drew his sword to attack the Gray Fox, but then couldn't see her when dialogue ended, so just stood there taking the beating). She then attacked several other people, and the people of the waterfront only attacked when I unequipped the enchanted ring, reducing her chameleon to 80%, and punched Puny Ancus. The only things I can think of that would make someone believe there was such a bug would be that they possibly had enchanted headgear that was replaced when the cowl was equipped, or they're possibly used to the random things people would say in Morrowind if you talked to them while Chameleon was active (it's been a long time since I played Morrowind, but I seem to recall people saying things like "Who said that?" if you tried initiating dialogue with them? Whereas dialogue is the same in Oblivion whether you're at 0% Chameleon or 100% Chameleon - it doesn't matter that they can't actually see you, they still talk to you all the same). Or there's a mod this person used that tinkered with something...I can't replicate the bug and can't see any real reason for it beyond those three scenarios. Enough evidence to remove it, would you say? --Dalimyr(TC) 21:32, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

Yeah. In fact I just tried it myself. The 3rd-party POV shows no difference whether you're wearing the cowl or not, and nobody else can see you - guards walk right past. I think you're right that somebody replaced a chameleon-enchanted hood when they put on the cowl. –RpehTCE 01:31, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

Cowl and SI

(moved from the article)
  • it is unclear if this has been fixed but when playing oblvion on the PS3 my character had the cowl equipped and i went threw to portal to the realm of madness. i took it off there and i still had the stats of the gray fox even after i exited. i didn't have a chance to try the reverse and put the cowl on in madness and exit.
Our anonymous friend is trying to tell us something, but I have no idea what. –RpehTCE 00:37, 30 March 2009 (EDT)
He had a glitch where he went through the Strange Door into the Shivering Isles with the cowl equipped and when he removed it upon arriving in the Isles, he had the same bounty and stats of the Gray Fox without actually having the cowl equipped. -- Interrupt feed 06:50, 21 April 2009 (EDT)
I believe that this is a one-time glitch as, I have tried this 10 times each with new characters, on PS3. I was unable to replicate it, anyone else playing on PS3 managed to replicate it?--Repeater 15:52, 21 April 2009 (EDT)
When I go into the SI with the cowl on, the bounty 'spills over' to my character IF I take the cowl off there. The inverse is true, as well: When I go into the SI as my character, the [lack of a] bounty spills over to the Fox. (However, when I take off the cowl in Cyrodiil and then put it back on, I can recreate the Fox's bounty when I take the Cowl off there. The inverse is NOT true here, though: I can't make my character's bounty go away when I mess around with the Cowl in Cyrodiil.) Infamy and Fame are not screwed up, however, which is what I find somewhat interesting. Is the game unable to calculate more than two bounties at a time?71.236.39.188 16:31, 10 May 2009 (EDT)

Corvus + Cowl

I've recently discovered the effects of being chased as the Grey Fox, and then removing the cowl within the vicinity of Corvus Umbranox. Apparently, the identity of the Gray Fox returns to him--as the guards attack Corvus instead! I've had the count killed several times in my games, not understanding this untill I pieced together each event. 98.183.162.63 18:27, 11 May 2009 (EDT)

No, that's standard AI behavior. By the time the TG quest line is over, Corvus is a very good friend of yours (high disposition). When the guards start to attack you, he will leap to your defense and cause them to attack him as well. He certainly doesn't become the GF again. –RpehTCE 03:07, 12 May 2009 (EDT)
Eh, that's debatable. The thing is, he doesn't leap to my defense, he leaps to kill me, Millona Umbranox by his side.. I take off the cowl, the guards immediatly leap onto him, his wife also attacking him. It could just be that they're seeing him as assaulting me, and slay him in my defense. That still would not explain why his wife thinks to maim her husband.98.183.162.63 14:39, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
Maybe he hit one of the guards, they attacked, he defended himself, and his wife decided to play a vigilante? — Unsigned comment by 68.159.133.25 (talk) on 6 August, 2009

Lost cowl

I have no idea where my Cowl of Nocturnal is. Is there any way I can find this?

If you're playing on the PC and have access to the console, you could give yourself another one with the player.additem 22e81 1 command. Then when/if you find the original, you could remove the new one by replacing 'add' with 'remove'. Or you could try searching every container in Cyrodiil, but I personally like the first idea better. 86.44.221.166 14:36, 24 May 2009 (EDT)

Cowl and KotN glitch

This is actully more cool than problematic. When I have full Crusader armor on sometimes I put on the cowl and I loose all my armor for the infamy. But at other times the cowl stays on and so does the armor. Does this gave to do with the order i put them on or is this just a glitch? Forgot to sign, sorry. Corevette789 19:06, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

It is likely a glitch caused by the way the Gray Cowl increases your Infamy. --Timenn < talk > 07:40, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Can't Remove the Cowl?

(moved from the article)

(You must remove it before he gets to you, and tries to arrest you, you can't take it off after resisting)

I moved this because it's ambiguous and unnecessary. One meaning, that you can't remove the cowl, is plain wrong. The other meaning is what I'm guessing is what was intended, that the guards keep attacking. That's true, but you can simply yield to them as at any other point, so it's not worth mentioning. –RpehTCE 07:29, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Conflicting description

The last paragraph of the Cowl's description refers to the futility of paying off the Grey Fox's bounty, while the paragraph above states that the bounty cannot be paid off at all. Could someone check this and remove whichever is false (I would, but my 360 has gone on strike apparently). Dlarsh 23:26, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, you can pay off the bounty while wearing the cowl, but not permanently. This means that the next time you don the cowl, your bounty has returned. So that's why one shouldn't pay off the bounty. I agree the wording can be a bit better Wolok gro-Barok 23:34, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
I believe the wording makes perfect sense. Right after saying it cannot be paid off,it says that you incur the bounty every time it is put back on. The next paragraph just goes on the explain this little bit of info in more depth. I think it is fine as it is now. --Elliot(T-C) 23:39, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps, but the previous wording seemed to imply that guards might refuse to accept your payment (and for what it's worth that's how I remember it, but like I stated earlier, I haven't been able to play in a while). Dlarsh 23:46, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Guards won't accept your bounty price, but Scrivva (the second Doyen) might. It's rather a moot point, though. From what I understand, guards will still attempt to arrest you on sight, even without a bounty. After all, "You're the most infamous thief in the world!" ;) 75.163.142.34 07:42, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Duplication Glitch With Cowl

I used the Staff of Worms/Staff of Corruption dupe meathod on the Cowl and then put one of the cowls in a chest in my Skingrad House and kept one. When i wear it, I am not treated as the Gray Fox at all. I gain all of the Cowl's enchantments, but my Fame, Infamy, and Bounty all stay the same. I am also treated as myself when I talk to guards or an NPC. This is somewhat useful considering i can get all of the Cowl's "positive" effects without actually being the Gray Fox, but I can't use the effect of putting any infamy i might get on the Fox and not me. I haven't tried using the other Cowl, but i would guess to say that it will have the same effect, considering they stacked in my inventory after i duped them. I am going to try dropping my current Cowl and using the other one, but other than that, any ideas on a fix?--Blktiger0 14:15, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

I should also mention that I am on the Xbox 360 version and have the GOTY edition with SI and KotN installed. My character didn't have any chameleon effect at the time that I first encountered the problem, and hasn't when I have re-tested the problem since then.--Blktiger0 14:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I fixed it myself, but thought I would leave this in case someone wants to add it to the page. Dropping the Cowl I had and getting the other one out of the chest worked, plus I now have a nice display item for my house. With the Cowl that was in the chest equipped, I become the Gray Fox once again, and gain his Bounty, Fame, and Infamy. --Blktiger0 14:45, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Kvatch Guard

I wanted to train my armor skills, so I went back to the Temple of Akatosh (away from innocent bystanders) to let the remaining Imperial Archer beat up "The Gray Fox". However, when I donned the cowl, he didn't try to arrest me. His dialog didn't change, although his disposition towards me dropped to about 60.

Siegfriedthenord 23:59, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure he's not an actual gaurd, just an NPC who follows you and then gets disabled.--Arch-Mage Matt 20:29, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

I've gotten arrested by one of those three guards. --Juz

Count Umbranox

Millona Umbranox, Countess of Anvil does not react with "You're the Gray Fox" when talked to with the cowl on. Instead she says "Leave me alone Gray Fox, your presence here only stirs up dark memories." this says it in the article, also,Corvus Umbranox, while youre wearing the cowl, says, "Ah, the gray fox. you wear the cowl better than me my friend"... should this be added to the article?--Arch-Mage Matt 20:27, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

No. They should be on the individual NPC pages. Listing every possible response to the Gray Cowl would clutter this article. --Timenn-<talk> 19:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

But i think those are the only two unique responses.--Arch-Mage Matt 22:23, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Gaurd arrest dialouge

I noticed when you get caught by a gaurd his closing words are "I'll be made captain for this!" does the game have actual gaurd captains say this? if not, what do they say?--Arch-Mage Matt 18:59, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

I think I heard Lex say that. --Juz

Guard Glitch?

I was wearing the Cowl through Imperial City, just to see what happened, and the guards ran up to me, my only option was of course to resist arrest, I then took the cowl off and they are still chasing me, my last save is halfway through The Ultimate Heist quest and the game autosaved as they were chasing me, any fix to this? -Oxxee 17:57, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps you had a bounty before you put on the Gray Cowl, and therefore the guards still try to arrest you while having the cowl unequipped because your own bounty returned. As for a solution, you could always go to a Doyen. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 18:19, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

This exact same thing happened to me, and I had no bounty whatsoever. Kind of a huge bummer after spending all the time to get the cowl.

Yeild to the gaurd. it works. While holding the Guard button, press the action button.75.85.240.138 17:54, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Stealing the Cowl Question

I have done the exploit to obtain the cowl with bound items. I have one question. How do Iclear the red flag on it? I went to The Inn of III Omen and the owner would not buy the cowl. I cant get a thieves guild doyen to buy it either because I am not "really" in the guild. I had never joined before, I just wanted the Cowl. I encountered a bug in which I was in Leyawiin, and I was wearing the Cowl, and I ran into Elsynia. When she saw me, her subtitles read; Your the Gray Fox! Please don't hurt me! But she said, Your the Gray fox! Thank you for all the help you've done in the Waterfront! This has happened before, see Sister Angrond's talk page. I think this is a glitch affecting either all female elves, or bosmer elves. Can anyone confirm this?--Arch-Mage Matt 18:46, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Playing as The Gray Fox - Fame.

Obiviously when you recieve Fame and you're wearing the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal it's the Gray Fox who recieves it not you, but once the Gray Fox's Fame reaches 5, 10 and 15 do the according things happen, but to the Gray Fox? If they've never happened to the player before, and the character's actual Fame is still 0? I'm referring to Ralsa Norvalo approaching you to start the quest "The Order of the Virtuous Blood" at 5 Fame, Tolgan approaching you to start the quest "Lifting the Vale" at 10 Fame, and the ability to buy the Chorrol and Skingrad houses that need 15 Fame. - MD

--Edit-- I've just been informed that apperently the Gray Fox mask has -500 Fame, but reads as 0. If so then the answer to my previous question would be no, as without console commands you can't get 515 fame points. Anyone have any information about this? Can this be confirmed or denied? - MD
