linked test areas[edit]

is it possible that test areas are all liked as when i saw trees in the distance of the bruma test area with te mini mountain i tried going to them and came to the farm test area i am on the xbox and did the frostcrag spire glitch

  • You will never edit the wiki or get a proper answer by the way you speak. --Stephanie 07:04, 18 April 2009 (EDT)Stephanie
    • I think I know what their saying, and its kinda the same thing we are talking about below. They are asking if all the TestCells are linked. Wil has a theory, that he stated below, that north is actually the y-axis. They ask because they were able to access, like me and Wil in our respective post below, 'TestGragtown' cell from the usual 'BrumaTests' cell during the 'FrostCragSpire' glitch.--Moosman547 16:30, 9 June 2009 (EDT)

Accessing Other Test Cells[edit]

I'm playing on the Xbox 360, and I recently did the 'Froscraig Spire Glitch' whereby you can access 'TestGragtown.' I'd just like to mention that I found an area not already mentioned on the page. It was a small town-like area with a castle to the west of the 'BrumaTests' area. Only one of the houses could be entered, called 'Grant's Farmhouse Interior Test' which I found on the Interior Test Cells page. Assuming that the coordinates system is based on North being positive y-axis direction, I would estimate its position to be around (5,1). What I'd like to know is if anyone has been able to access any of the other test cells on the Xbox. I'd really like to be able to get to 'TestWorld' if anybody has found a way to do this. Thanks --Wiliscool 11:10, 1 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Could the areas I found be 'thehill' and 'TestSkingradCastle'? --Wiliscool 11:26, 1 May 2009 (EDT)
    • I was wanting to know the same thing: I am on the 360 and I want to get to the 'TestWorld' cell; is there a way to do it? Or, is there another way for a 360 user to recieve the 'Knight of Order Armor'? The armor is my ultimate goal and I have heard that there are multiple TestCells with it. I had just done the same thing as the guy above me, Wiliscool, and I too accessed 'TestGragtown' because I saw the trees in the distance. All you need to do to get their is to cross a shallow sea from 'BrumaTests' cell. Please, if anyone has any new information, please post it.--Moosman54711:36, 2 June 2009

If you just have to cross a sea you could try using the paintbrush trick but thats all i can think of at the moment 81.132.92.31 14:42, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

How are you supposed to GET to these areas, "a console command" Is pretty vague.[edit]

Try actually reading the console page then you'll discover the "coc" and "coe" commands. –RpehTCE 06:45, 12 May 2009 (EDT)
You'll find that whenever the site lists using console commands, it is speaking of using the "CLUA Console" on the PC version of the game. By using the Console command, you can create items, money, and visit areas that are otherwise unaccesible by playing the game. That having been said, I have not encountered a way to exploit the xbox 360 in the same manner. I had some experience using console commands with other games for pc (including Oblivion) and would be pretty stoked if someone knew how to use them, but I would be equally surprised. Sorry, wish I could tell you more.68.1.40.95 01:58, 19 May 2009 (EDT) -Arthur
The console command is: ???????.???.what. dot. ???? on the console. Can anyone plainly type it out? — Unsigned comment by 72.171.16.250 (talk) at 18:05 on 11 April 2015‎
I've added a sentence at the beginning of the article regarding what command to enter, akin to what's on Skyrim:Test Cells. Forfeit (talk) 18:44, 11 April 2015 (GMT)

Theorys i have about this[edit]

i have wondered if doing a similiar thing in another download like the orrey and deleting it if that would in turn have the same effect as the one in frostcrag. also would it send you to a completely different test cell.

Mike im on here often. — Unsigned comment by 68.104.73.102 (talk) on 30 July 2009

this would make sense, there is a rumour i heard that if you save on top of the ship in the thieves den expansion and then delete it you are spawned in another cell, i might test it tonight

tested it and you get jammed underneath a cave with some npcs and a daedra.... you cant leave the area though... — Unsigned comment by 86.45.77.119 (talk) on 13 September 2009
I keep trying this and for the Fighters stronghold and Vile lair it just puts you in a building in the imperial city... — Unsigned comment by 76.178.198.167 (talk) on 9 August 2010

To the East[edit]

If you head east from the bruma test cell, you will encounter an NPC named Dewy Decimal. Continue heading East and you will come to a few tall hills. In a valley down in the hills is a lone house. This is all I have encountered so far, though I am actively searching for more cells. I will post more as i find it.

Clearing things up[edit]

  • The "BrumaTests" area is a part of a test world called "TestGragtown" and you can access 8 different test cells in this world, but cannot access any of the other test worlds, such as the one containing the famed "Hawkhaven".
  • Here is a vague map that shows all of the cells that encompass the range of the 8 test cells. The X-axis is West(negative) and East(positive); The Y-axis is South(negative) and North(positive). If you can estimate the size of each cell, then you can easily find your way to the 8 test cells. However, it is easy to get lost since everything else around this area is just plain wilderness.
  • These coordinates are found directly in the article we're discussing.

TestGragtown.jpg

  • x = Regular "wilderness" cell.
  • 0 = Origin (0,0) of the coordinate plane, and also "thehill" test cell.
  • A = "TestSkingradCastle" The cell containing the floating castle which looks exactly like Castle Skingrad (except you cannot see through the walls from outside at the real castle). -(-1,0)
  • S = The "BrumaTests" cell, and the only cell in this test world that has any real use to your character, so sorry the only point of exploring this region is simply for fun. -(7,2)
  • M = "MiniMountain01" a small mountain of course. Climb to the top to get a view of "BrumaTests" and this next cell... -(7,4)
  • C = "TestCloudRuler", the cell right next door to "BrumaTests". It is a replica of the Cloud Ruler Temple, you cannot use the doors. -(8,2)
  • D = "TestHackdirt", much like a "Wilderness" cell except for the fact that burn marks appear at all of the edges of the cell, you could easily use this as a reference for the size of each cell. In the center of the cell, there is an NPC named Dewey Decimal, he wears blades armor and you can talk to him, but he doesn't have much to say. You can sneak around him from the front and he won't turn to look, also he has nothing to pickpocket. You can kill him and take his stuff as another souvenir. -(12,2)
  • P = "TestJMregion" as you continue to head east from "TestHackdirt", you will find some mountains and a house at the center, but the door does not work. -(20,2)
  • K = "TestJMregion2" The interior of the house, but cannot be accessed by normal means. So heading east past "TestJMregion" will only take you to seemingly endless "Wilderness", and maybe a few water cells where you can swim in mid air if you leave the cell, but you eventually settle to the ground where you walk again. -(25,2)
  • If you continue past the edges of this map, you will find nothing but bare wilderness. There are 2618 cells that make up this entire test world. If the world is perfectly square that would mean that there are probably about 327 cells in each direction past the origin (2618/4 would equal the length and width of each side of the sqare, that/2 would equal the distance from the center). If you make it to the edge, perhaps it leads to a whole other test world full of riches and cool test cells, or more likely you will end up at an invisible barrier, where you will lament at your wasted time.
  • If there is any other way to access the more useful test worlds, that would be very cool, but we most likely cannot with the "Frostcrag Spire Glitch".

So i hope that cleared things up =D. --Maddsc15 10:12, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Excellent, thank you. -Wiliscool 19:00, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Hello it has been about three months. But there have been some other things I experimented with that I never got around to explaining up until now. I decided I had to mod to get this data. Of course I also did just about everything else possible with modding such as hex editing spells, equips, etc. I even got to Hawkhaven. Anyway.. This article we're discussing made me misunderstand.. it says the amount of cells the test worlds are comprised of including all the "Cool" cells, but with my speed hacked and me in "testworld" (a much smaller test world according to the article) I decided to run to what I thought might be the edge. I realized at that moment that there was no edge.. i would run for several minutes in one direction at like 300 speed.. and nothing.. it is a basic plane.. extending infinitely in all directions... which makes sense.. Well thats all i needed to say.. bye!!

Let me add a bit here. All the cells on the list that are reused/renamed can be accessed by going to said location and disabling the associated plugin. Frostcrag Spire is a reused cell that initially led to the BrumaTests thing. And, because these two cells have the same ID, which is what is stored in the save file, the save interpreter doesn't notice anything odd, since the cell in the save already exists, which is the one reused for Frostcrag Spire, which is why this glitch is able to occur.

Possible Test Areas on Oblivion 360[edit]

As i was exploring the edges of the lava in the deadlands lookin for a way to hack the game (dont we all)i got to thinkin so i crossed the lava and then it was flat ground then air lava then a drop off then nothing but ground as the eye could see i hit a few patches of floatin air lava then i kept goin the same direction (south)for three hours and quit mith the bitter taste of loss. Any suggestions???

The Thieves Den has potential[edit]

I tried the glitch in the basement on the pirate ship in the thieves den and the same thing happened for the the frostcrag glitch, except instead of a building it was the top of an oblivion tower and when i got inside it had a normal sigil stone and nothing happened after i took it, and there are no doors... but i am sure that if someone finds the right spot to do this glitch they will find a new test cell. — Unsigned comment by 76.178.198.167 (talk) on 9 August 2010

i just tried the vile layer and it takes you to the tiber septom hotel — Unsigned comment by 99.73.174.160 (talk) at 04:26 on 6 September 2010
The Tiber Septim Hotel is the default when Oblivion can't figure out where to put you, as noted here. Robin Hoodtalk 09:35, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Travels[edit]

  • I have been travelling, or should i say letting my controller travel for me, for a the last hour. I just recently started seeing some new drop offs after seeing what i thought would be an infinite amount of land. (wilderness) the sudden changes of land makes me believe i entered a new test world o.o
  • Care to elaborate? What directions did you go, and from where? What did you find when you got there? 69.217.175.79 02:09, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Shivering Isles[edit]

If this glitch is attempted with Shivering Isles it will pretty much just freeze your console. If I an get it to work I will update the post here.

Hawkhaven[edit]

Can this place be accessed on the 360? And can any others, except the Frostcrag Spire glitch place, be accessed on the 360? Lucien LachanceDB 07:49, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

As it says at the top of the article, these places cannot be accessed except through the console. Since you can't get to the console on a 360, you can't get to the location. Robin Hoodtalk 00:52, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Possible Exterior Cell: TestEndGame[edit]

This probably isn't an actual test cell, but I think this is worth noting. If you were to climb out of the courtyard of Anvil Castle, you would fall into a transparent version of Cyrodiil. This is called "TestEndGame" on the map. If you were to climb out of any other city, it would still have the same name as the city/district you are in. Can anyone investigate this? Bauglir100 16:46, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

That's actually the name of the entire "world" (with that word having a rather broad definition in the game). Specifically, it's AnvilCastleCourtyardWorld. Some of it contains objects that are used in the game, so I don't think it qualifies to be on this page. A lot of locations in the game have extra places like this that you were never really meant to be able to get to. It looks to me like in this case, the "TestEndGame" might well be just a name that somebody forgot to change...there seems to be a lot of "garbage" in this world that really shouldn't be there. Robin Hoodtalk 01:04, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
I Azreal the wanderer have explored the great expanse of emptiness know as testendworld searching for the test hall I have a location far northeast Y:1932 X:1825 Z:7162 are the coordinates I search for — Unsigned comment by Azreal the wanderer (talkcontribs) at 03:19 on 23 August 2020 (UTC)

How to go to testing hall (and other cells) on Xbox360[edit]

Using Horizon you can change your current level, attributes, skills, stats, location, and add/delete any item to/from your inventory. You can also use this to teleport yourself out of bounds, or to the Testing Hall, if you change the following location (random YouTube video I found with accurate explanation, How to mod oblivion and get to testing hall): (Location: 3DB92, Y-axis: 1932,375000000, X-axis: 1823,990000000, Z-axis: 7162,773000000). You can fast travel back to the main map by first going outside to Hawkhaven, or the Creature Grove.

You should also be able to travel to other cells, using the FormIDs, leaving out the first three 0's. I will test this myself soon. --C0rTeZ48 (talk) 17:33, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Complete list of Form IDs for both Interior and Exterior Cells[edit]
