Two points

  1. The sword gives a new lesser Power when equipped
  2. Where is the secret storage room?

— Unsigned comment by 68.60.226.203 (talk)

It's in your private quarters, I believe. Check your map and you will see a door in what looks like nothing, around in that area is a "movable pillar." Activate it and, voila, secret storage room. =) IWon'tFightUndead 02:16, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

The room where you find the diary? Thats it? I thought it was supposed to be like a vault....68.60.226.203 08:05, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

It's a solid stone room with a hidden acces point, what more do you want?Volanaro 10:30, 22 February 2008 (EST)
More space, probably. It's more like a secret closet (oh the implications of that phrase) than a vault. =) IWon'tFightUndead 13:44, 22 February 2008 (EST)
Is this storage spot safe? — Unsigned comment by 121.216.59.1 (talk)
Yes. Every container in the Master Bedroom (including the hidden area) is safe. –RpehTCE 10:15, 14 June 2008 (EDT)

You could use the grotto where you fight Lord Kain and the Lich as a vault, that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s big and well hidden, the only downside is that it’s kinda dark. Download the Imperial Furniture mod and you can place all the storeage chests you need. — Unsigned comment by 216.36.151.217 (talk)

Hjalti

Some people are saying the Blacksmith has a dog named "Hjalti", and some (including myself), have never seen it. Is there some sort of bug preventing the dog from appearing?

I've seen him with one of my characters, but not with another. IWon'tFightUndead 05:42, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
He definitely exists. I've always seen him outside in the courtyard. He now gets a mention (and a picture) on his owner's page and his own redirects there too. Oblivion:Hjalti. --RpehTCE 07:48, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

I still haven't seen him. — Unsigned comment by 198.165.58.254 (talk)

He does indeed exsist. If he is not outsite the blacksmiths house then he is inside. Is there could be a possibility that the maurauders killerd it? 212.50.191.54 04:18, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

I don't believe he's around when the marauders attack so that seems unlikely. Something else could have killed him though. Bandits appear near to the castle and it's possible one of those got in and attacked him. --RpehTCE 05:07, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

When I loaded-up my save today he was at the castle doors. I'm positive he wasn't there before though. — Unsigned comment by 205.251.148.143 (talk)

Shagrol gro-Uzug

I was sparring with him and noticed that armour skills are not affected by his attacks. I was on the very brink of leveling up my Heavy Armour skill, yet no matter how long I stood there and let him hit me, Heavy Armour would not gain any experience points. I suspect this is due to the fact that he does 0 damage. After more testing, should there be a note of this made under his section in the article? — Unsigned comment by 68.150.106.238 (talk) at 22:03 on 17 October 2007

Well, you can actually just outright attack him, and no grudges will be held against you. This way, he still does damage, is still invincible, and you do not gain any bounty. Also, you can pickpocket his Training weapons, which do not break, and do no damage, this makes it extremely easy to get up a few skills. -Allanon 22:55, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a funny thing, actually. I don't understand it myself. Even when he does damage, you don't level your armor skill. Not quite sure how that's implemented, but I'm fairly sure it's the case. Strange. Maratanos 21:44, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
I paralyzed this guy and he doesn't fall over for some reason.... He was paralyzed for over 15 minutes after I stacked crazy Weakness to Magicka on him. ZirePhoenix 06:25, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
That's probably unrelated to the problem described above. It's rare, but I've seen dead people remain standing, so I'd imagine it's possible that paralysis could have the same bug. For future reference, unless you're certain that you're adding new information related to the problem, it's probably best to start a new topic rather than responding to one that's three years old. Oblivion Map Marker

In case anyone was wondering, I'm planning to add a map marker to the Oblivion Map for Battlehorn Castle. As with all of the other mod locations (e.g., Frostcrag Spire, Fort Bulwark), the map image won't be altered. But at least a symbol showing its location can be added to the database. Or rather it should be possible to add the map marker, but right now the map editing tool is dysfunctional, so my cartographer title isn't worth too much ;) Hopefully that can get fixed in the near future! --NepheleTalk 03:14, 19 October 2007 (EDT)

Images

I said this on the edit summary of one of the images, but please do not put large images into the article that serve no informational purpose. This is a semi-professional article. Artistic imagery is not desirable.

Also, in this same vein, I'm removing the images of the Bulwark and the Dragonsword. They're too large, and scaling them down makes them look jarring due to lack of proper transparency. If someone wants to upload a version with a background color that will work in thumbnail mode, go right ahead. Something a la the artifact images, I think. Maratanos 21:28, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

I've restored the item images. They're not too large and the transparency makes them look rather better, IMHO, than they otherwise would. I've left off the banner image but you should realise that there is nothing wrong with putting a little eye candy on the pages. In the banner's case I deliberately made the image long to brighten up what was otherwise a rather text-heavy page. If you want to create a different image for the items, please feel free, but removing a perfectly good image when there is no replacement does not help improve anything.
As an aside, I would suggest you refrain from comments such as "I'm the one responsible for most of this page's layout as it stands now", which make it sound as if you're trying to claim ownership. It's incorrect anyway, as a glance at the page's history will confirm. --RpehTCE 03:55, 22 October 2007 (EDT)
I'm sorry. I did not intend to claim ownership of the page by any means, nor make it sound like I did so. I was simply saying that a significant part of the page layout looked very different before and after these two edits. Compare: before, after. And honestly, I won't blame you if you don't believe that was me. I probably wouldn't either, with roles swapped. That aside, however, I was by no means essential to this process, as it would have happened anyway. Indeed, it did happen anyway, as I did not have the time to implement the last major piece of house plug-in layout, the New Items section, myself. I was simply trying to state my motivation for having such a layout on this page. The point is that other people shared this motivation, or it wouldn't have stayed this way. And the ultimate point of THAT, and of my entire statement, was that it's a matter of consistency: if the plug-in pages are gonna get revamped, there's very little reason not to do so. Again, sorry for sounding confrontational.
You're right about the images, though. I admit it was the wrong move to take them down when there was nothing else. Although I still think we should try for consistency with other item images. We should strive to make there BE something else, in other words. Oh, and I'm all for adding images to text-heavy sections. I just think that it's more important that these images be relevant and useful. Maratanos 17:47, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

A question about the images: Is this, perhaps, an acceptable alternative to the pair of them? Maratanos 18:42, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

Nice image, but is that one you've done yourself? We have to be careful about copyright. --RpehTCE 19:09, 22 October 2007 (EDT)
Created it myself using BSACMD and NifSkope. Game resources. Is that kosher? Maratanos 19:53, 22 October 2007 (EDT)
Yup that should be fine. Thanks. --RpehTCE 02:51, 23 October 2007 (EDT)

Items Duplicating

I was putting my things in the chest at the foot of my bed and when I put in one Black & Burgundy Outfit, it showed two. The chest was empty also. I tried it with my green velvet shoes then, and it did the same.

I haven't had this happen to me. I even waited 24/48/72 hours to see. Did you have nothing but the clothes in there? I had a bunch of items in there, and none of them have been duplicated. =) IWon'tFightUndead 15:40, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
I have experienced it plenty of times in the Shivering Isles. But the item doesn't actually multiply. It only appears like that. For example, when you take back your Black & Burgundy Outfit, only one will be added to your inventory. Isn't it? --Mankar Camoran 15:53, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
That sometime shappens to me. When Im in Rockmilk cave I sometimes accidently take thier weapons when I dont need them so I put them back. Then it appears as two of the weapon, one equiped and one unequiped though taking them one removes both.--Bambobo 20:06, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
Odd things can occasionally happen with containers - especially if stolen items are involved too. It's not a Battlehorn-specific glitch though. --RpehTCE 04:16, 28 October 2007 (EDT)

It showed two Dragonsword of Lainlyn.

As the others have confirmed, it sometimes happens. I have even seen three copies of the same item. But it is just a minor glitch. The game is not affected in any way by it, as the item is not affected. It only appears to have multiplied. Appearances can be deceptive! --Mankar Camoran 10:16, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
The other time this happens (and it's by no means specific to Battlehorn Castle) is when you place clothing/armor/weapons on a corpse. I'd be careful experimenting with this, however, as it often causes the game to crash when you play around with it too much. (Just make sure you save first.) Since it doesn't actually duplicate items, only appears to, there's no real benefit to doing this, and given the risks of crashing, it's probably best to avoid doing it altogether. --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:53, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
I have experimented with it quite a few times actually, but my game has never crashed. May be I have just been lucky. But you are right, there is no benefit to it, but I just did it out of curiosity. And I actually think duplicating items like that would have been harmful because it ruins the game. But that's just my opinion. --Mankar Camoran 11:23, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
If you want to duplicate items, you can always use the Console. --Mankar Camoran 11:25, 28 October 2007 (EDT)

Chicken Little, or How the Battlehorn Men-at-Arms fall from the sky

For about three or four times now, I've had these Men-at-Arms fall from the sky right as I leave the castle. I walk out, hear "Aaaaaaaaaaaah!" and then a sort of crash and look over to see a Man-at-Arms lying dead. This time, I got a screenshot of the dead guy; I'm not quite fast/alert/quick-thinking enough to catch a shot of them falling. Maybe next time, though. If anyone's interested in looking at the screenie, I'll upload it somewhere. IWon'tFightUndead 02:55, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Sounds interesting, put one up and let me know. --Sundar 08:13, 12 November 2007 (EST)
Here's a link to the picture on my Photobucket account. I'm the guy in the robe, obviously. Clicky. I've been thinking that perhaps the game means to spawn them on the battlements and, instead, places them in the air. That's the only semi-logical answer I could come up with for why this happens. I've also considered that the AI just sucks at pathfinding and is literally walking off the battlements, but I remember the first guy I saw fell right in the middle of the courtyard. IWon'tFightUndead 08:26, 12 November 2007 (EST)
I've seen something similar. I don't think it's the battlements causing it though. I've seen people (and my horse) wandering around in the centre of the courtyard and suddenly soar 100 feet in the air. I always try to get indoors as quickly as possible, as this doesn't seem to happen when you're out of sight, meaning you don't keep tripping over dead NPCs. --RpehTCE 02:41, 16 November 2007 (EST)

Another (less likely) possibility is that they are running too fast off the stairs. The stairways are so steep that I often run right off of them and take damage. 24.174.98.121 18:11, 12 March 2008 (EDT)

How do I get the Mod?

The problem I'm experiencing, is I'm using window's vista. To my knowledge, direct2drive still isn't compatible with vista :(. I bought the Knights of the Nine plug in box at my local store... and it had every other mod (excluding the shivering isles) BUT the Battlehorn Castle mod. So, how do I obtain the castle? : --Scxe 03:58, 1 March 2008 (EST)

Display Cases

I know that most of the chests and other containers are not safe places for storage (since they will eventually reset). Does anyone know if the display cases (I think there's...five of them?) will also reset and wipe out anything you place inside? --24.174.98.121 18:14, 12 March 2008 (EDT)

No. Display cases don't respawn as they aren't containers in the usual sense - the objects stay in the main world. –RpehTCE 02:56, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

Thanks. --24.174.98.121 03:15, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

I've noticed sometimes the display case in the master bedroom will sometimes have issues with its contents falling through the case when entering the bedroom. Once or twice the contents have gotten stuck in the floor as as a result. I simply load up the auto save for entering my castle when this happens and try again. (Gadianzero 07:46, 1 June 2009 (EDT))

I found some sort of glitch.

When I was fighting the marauders, I used the "kill" function on the archer at the start of the battle. The gate never went up (except when I forced it to). I got the quest to go and purchase the goods from the IC vendor, but when I purchase them it does not advance to the next quest stage, it just sits there. Anyone know whats wrong? Paladin Hammer 00:24, 18 March 2008 (EDT)

Hmm, seems you killed her before quest stage 20 (Player closer to castle -- trigger boss to open gate) was completed. I'm sorry, but I can't think of any solution right now.--LordDagon 15:02, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

You're on the PC version? Find the code that advances the stage just past that. Rosiku 03:19, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

You need to go back to Battlehorn castle then a messenger will appear and tell you to go back and purchase the dwemer forge from him. Then the quest will be complete =)

Battlehorn Men-At-Arms Not Allied To PC?

I was doing the main quest and I asked some of my Men At Arms to follow me, during the great gate part at Bruma, he didn't seem to attack the Daedra, then when I finished the Main Quest I went back to Battlehorn Castle and I tried to ask some of the other Man-At-Arms to follow me, then I summoned a skeleton and attacked it 3 times so it would attack me, and the Man-At-Arms didn't joined the battle he just stood there doing nothing, what could be wrong with my game?, Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!

Tell him to "Wait here until I return." to get him to wander around nearby and attack hostile targets. Torinir 21:01, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Battlehorn Men-At-Arms missing?

It says "The castle comes with two men-at-arms." yet I have searched the entire castle twice and all I have is a Blacksmith and his dog. I assume they died in the fight to retake the castle, if that's possible. If so is there a way for me to get more guards besides the two you get when you buy the barracks? — Unsigned comment by 69.141.232.91 (talk) on 21 March 2009

Forger glitch?

So I was trying to get all my trophy's for my Battlehorn castle and when I went up to my taxidermy lady and she was like this on the bed. Has anyone else had this happen or I am just lucky. All I had to do to fix it was to say the game and reload it. --Militarysmoker 02:18, 1 June 2009 (EDT)

This is the first time I've heard this happening. Lucky you. (Gadianzero 07:46, 1 June 2009 (EDT))

Dragonsword Appearance

just something about the dragonsword, has anyone else noticed that it looks almost identical to the shivering isles shadowrend (other than color)64.136.27.226 20:12, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

Yes, it is already stated at this page. --Timenn < talk > 07:43, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Skill books

Hmm... I've seen some pages report two and four skill books in Battlehorn Castle, but there are five available. Four in the private quarters (two on the bookshelf with the helmet and gauntlets, two on the dresser by your bed) and one in the main area, second floor on a table near the private quarters entrance. Skills books: Blade, Blunt, Heavy Armor, Armorer, Block. Torinir 20:48, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Never mind, I see they spread them out in the article. Torinir 21:03, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

is it on the ps3 verson of oblivon. cuz i cant find it— Unsigned comment by 98.215.123.59 (talk) at 20:10 on 19 July 2009

No, it's not. It's a plug-in available for the PC and Xbox, but not for the PS3. Wolok gro-Barok 18:23, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Can I do this?

My friend has Xbox Live, and Battlehorn Castle, but I don't. Can I copy the Battlehorn Castle downloadable content from him via memory card? This way, I don't have to get Xbox Live. Is this possible, and/or legal? --Oblivion nerd 23:08, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Never mind. --Oblivion nerd 23:14, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

For the sake of other people asking this question, were you able to do this transfer or not? Also, if you did, how did you go about it? Jaden 18:58, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Whether possible or not, it would be illegal. Your best option would be to take your hard drive (or even your Xbox) to his house, use it to access Xbox Live, and pay for the DLC. I'd caution against even that, though; I've been unable to access any of the DLC on my hard drive when I'm not connected to Xbox Live, so I assume there's some sort of verification involved. Please remember that if you don't pay for it, it's probably not legal. --GKtalk2me 04:40, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Conflict with Knights of the Nine

I have found that the Oblivion Mod Manager detects a conflict between these two official plugins. Is this accurate? I only ask because it seems more likely there's a glitch than that one is restricted from playing a character with access to both (when they go together so well). — Unsigned comment by 99.254.8.31 (talk) on 24 November 2009

Where is the Taxidermy Area?

I can't find it for the life of me. Filia 18:40, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Starting from facing the statue plinth infront of you when you go into Battlehorn Castle through the front entrance, go straight ahead and go through the right hand archway. At the end of the short corridor is a door leading into the East Wing. Go through there and the Taxidermist's room is immediately on your right :) Jaden 18:59, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Unpruchaseable upgrades.

When I went to purchase the objects for my castle the guy in the Imperial City didn't have any of the items for sale in his inventory or any speach options reguarding the subject. He gave me a note detailing all the upgrades I can buy, but none of them are in his inventory. Am I missing something or is my game just glitching?

This is a time error, there is apparently another part of the "quest" that you need to do before that one, but if you have done everything, it is glitching, if you are playing on the PC, look up commands for those items you need. Rosiku 03:13, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

xbox follower Issue

ok so i just did the quest for the great wayklend stone, and took 1 man with me, now i am about to do defence of bruma and i told the remaining soldiers to follow me, how only the captain seems to follow the rest just go back to their duties the sencond i leave the castle. does anyone know a fix for this or if i am doing something wrong. Also has anyone else had his issue? 81.147.152.98 13:26, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

You can only have one Battlehorn Follower at a time. The reason Castellan Athon (or the replacement if Castellan Athon was killed) seems to be the only one following you is because he is probably the last person you told to follow you. In other words, the last Battlehorn Follower (whether it be the Castellan or Men-At-Arms) who you told to follow you will be the only one that will follow you - the rest return to their patrols/sleeping/eating etc Jaden 18:58, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Respawning Items

Do the food and plates/pitchers/goblets etc throughout Battlehorn Castle respawn? I accidentally fired a Shock spell whilst in the Dining Hall and saved - without realising my mistake. So yeah, do they respawn or will I have to manually adjust everything back? Also, how long, if they do respawn, does it usually take? Jaden 18:58, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I see in the comments that all the containers in the master bedroom are safe. Does that include the desk in the study area? kismet173.63.203.49

Jaden, no sorry and Kismet yes they are safe.--Corevette789 20:10, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
While you can determine what'll respawn by looking in the Construction Set if you have it, I find the easiest way to determine what respawns is usually to just fast-wait 3 days. As I recall, you may have to wait an extra hour beyond that, so just to be safe, wait for four full days. Anything that hasn't respawned by then almost certainly never will. Robin HoodTalk 21:16, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Item consuming carpet?

I was bringing some souvenirs back from the shivering isles to display them in the great hall, on the pedestals where i think the taxidermy things go. I dropped some of the items from my inventory on top of the red carpet in the middle, and they vanished as though there was no ground there. one of these items was the staff of Sheogorath, so if anyone knows how i may fix this, i would greatly appreciate it. 173.67.0.77 20:57, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Items falling through the floor is a bug that crops up occasionally. If you're using a gaming console, your only option will be to go to a saved game prior to losing the items. If you're on the PC, you can use the Console command tcl to go through the floor and find all of your lost items. This isn't always easy, though. You can also give yourself a new Staff of Sheogorath by entering player.additem 4fd09 1 into the console. Robin HoodTalk 21:13, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually, if it falls through the floor, in a little moment, it should spawn elsewhere, and anywhere in that scripted area, because eventually it falls so far down, that it spawns it back in that area because of reasons like for example, there is a glitch in the Imperial Arena, when you are a combatant go all the way to the gate, turn around goto the left side on the outside of the tunnel, if you have enough speed, you should be able to fall down in there, but after a moment, it will spawn you back in the tunnel, so just look around there bud.
Rosiku 03:09, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
While this works for the player, unfortunately, it doesn't work for items. They will happily sit at the "real" bottom of the map and never reappear in the portion of the map visible to the player. Robin HoodTalk 21:01, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Battlehorn Castle Wines

The barrels in the basement contain 21 bottles each of mead and cheap wine, but if you ask for them from Rona instead, there is apparently an infinite supply. Mathiusdragoon 03:02, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

There isn't supposed to be. I haven't checked it in-game, but there's scripting in there to count the number of bottles. I didn't check everything, though, so there's probably a bug in it somewhere. Were you buying any particular type of wine at the time? Robin HoodTalk 22:13, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Rona is a servant and most likely doesn't get the cheap wine from the barrels in the basement like the servant in Rosethorn she has an infinite supply, not the barrels.--Corevette789 22:16, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I was able to continuously get both mead and cheap wine from rona, but the unique wines run out normally. Mathiusdragoon 01:01, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the follow-up, I'll have a look at it tomorrow...it could be that those were intentionally left as limitless where the others weren't. I'll let you know what I find out. Robin HoodTalk 02:35, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, looking at the scripting for this, it appears that cheap wine and mead are deliberately left out of the count. You can indeed get infinite amounts from her. At a guess, I would say that this was supposed to be tied into the Vintner making custom wines and someone just goofed somewhere along the way. Alternatively, you could make a very unconvincing argument that Rona is a distant relation of Jesus and has the limited ability to transform watery wine into wine...but only from those two barrels and only in limited quantities. :) Next time I'm in Battlehorn (which will probably be several months from now), I'll try to remember this and see if there's any re-scripting that could be done here. Robin HoodTalk 21:37, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Not good effort of their part...?

After reviewing all of the diolouge the people of Battlehorn Castle say, I have come to this conclusion: Everything the people of B.C. says is taken from somewhere else in the original game. Examples: The male imperial Battlehorn Men-At-Arms says how it is a dark day for them all of them left, once you talk to him for the first time. This is taken from Raminus Pollus and his discovery of the Bruma guild attack. Melisi Daren says "You've brought me the item i've requested..." This is taken from Earana once you bring the Fingers of the mountain. There are several other examples of this.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:33, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

It may not have been a matter of programming effort so much as budget and/or voice actor availability concerns. Robin HoodTalk 01:25, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
True. You can kind of make a game of it by figuring out what the B.C. people copy from the original game.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Battlehorn Castle vs Other establishments?

Whats bigger in size, Battlehorn or the Skingrad house?

Battlehorn. It also has more display cases. (Gadianzero 00:29, 5 August 2010 (UTC))
Where are all the display cases? I only count five: two above the trophy hall, one in the private suite, and two next to the main entrance. Did I miss any?
