Race[edit]

Should we have that he is of two races? His mother was an Orc, but his father was an Imperial (though a vampire). Does just saying he is an "Orc" suffice? Michael 15:16, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

I think having the text explain his mixed parentage is sufficient. Adding him to the Imperial category or adding Imperial to his infobox starts to get misleading, however, because in terms of the game he is treated as a pure Orc. His statistics are calculated using Orc attribute levels and Orc skill bonuses; if you kill him for Molag Bal's quest he will count only as an Orc soul, etc. So I don't see that having his name show up in the list of Imperial NPCs will help with playing the game, IMHO. --Nephele 16:45, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
I agree. His parentage is purely verbal in-game lore, not reflected in his actual statistics. Thus there is no reason to insert it into the infobox. -- JustTheBast 17:25, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
Plus, there's lore that suggests that in the Tamriel universe, children always inherit their mother's race, never their father. (Of course, this could really just be a bit of weaseling to explain why there are no cross-breed races in the game, but whatever.) --TheRealLurlock Talk 00:02, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
That's interesting. Thanks. Michael 02:12, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

The Consequences of Defeating Agronak gro-Malog in the Arena[edit]

Should there be some information about the consequences of defeating Agronak gro-Malog in the arena? Challenging Agronak without first completing the "Origin of the Gray Prince" quest results in lost bonus opportunities, but defeating him afterward is considered a murder, the first of which results in a visit from the Dark Brotherhood.

Note that in the latter case, Frenzy and Rage spells do not seem to make any difference in Agronak's behavior or the results of defeating him, but the player cannot leave the arena without defeating Agronak, so the player is forced to be marked as a murderer just to escape the arena. Brian Sexton 06:35, 5 July 2007 (EDT)

This is discussed both at Arena (faction) and at Origin of the Gray Prince, so I'm not sure how much more needs to be added here. In particular since the issue really only makes a difference in terms of how to complete one stage of a quest, the details really belong on that quest's page, namely at Oblivion:Arena (faction)#Champion Match. There is definitely some reorganization and cleanup that needs to be done with the article (i.e., half of the details relevant here are stuck under Three Especially Difficult Fights; they should all be combined in one place). If you're interested in the Arena fights, any help you could provide on that article would really be appreciated :) --NepheleTalk 03:13, 6 July 2007 (EDT)

Companion?[edit]

Anyone know if this fella can be used as a companion (Toaster Says Share) if you insert a rumours topic with the console? (i.e. will he he attack enemies if recruited?) Spite Your Face 03:27, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

Huh?[edit]

What does "malapropism" mean?

Wikipedia knows all. --TheRealLurlock Talk 19:04, 13 December 2008 (EST)

Name[edit]

It is my understanding that orc naming conventions were as follows: male orc= (name) gro-(fathers name) (eg. Burz gro-Khash), female orc+ (name) gra-(mothers name), (eg Snak gra-Bura). If I am correct then Agronak's name should technically be Agronak gro-Lovidicus, as that was his fathers name, it is also definitely not his mother's name as Lord Lovidicus' journal names her as Luktuv. The journal also suggests that Luktuv was angry when she discovered Lovidicus' secret, so that could be why she did not use his name (plus gro-Lovidicus sounds ridiculous!). I dont really know if this deserves to go on the page, but I just thought I should point it out. The-manta 13:50, 16 June 2009 (EDT)

I will assume they take the Orc name; however, mixing of races isn't the norm in Tamriel. Also, notice this part of the journal:
That is the only way to accurately describe my love, the maiden gro-Malog.
I think that explains it. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 17:37, 22 June 2009 (EDT)
Ah, um, yes it certainly would. I'm thinking I should probably stop making groundless points related to NPC names. And take the time to read things properly...

Murder[edit]

Is there any way to defeat him (after doing the quest) without getting another murder on your statistics? Thanks! SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 11:43, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

In a word: no. –RpehTCE 11:54, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I was able to kill him (after completing his quest) with a (non-immediate) damage health poison without having it count as murder. -Fritzdis 02:15, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean by "non-immediate"? –rpehTCE 04:57, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I mean that I used a created poison that does damage over time rather a built-in poison that does the damage all at once as soon as the strike is delivered. This allowed me to verify that it was the poison that killed him (which the crime page indicates does not count as murder). -Fritzdis 19:37, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Don't forget thet there is always the Sanguine Rose to use when you don't want murder anyone ;)

Theory on Agronak[edit]

Well, I noticed that Agronak is paler than most orcs, and I thought that was because he shares blood with a vampire. And since Vampires are dead white, this would explain that. Anyone have any comments on this?— Unsigned comment by Arch-Mage Matt (talkcontribs) at 18:03 on 2 July 2009

Yes, I guess that's the correct explanation. It's not too hard to come up with that theory, though. Wolok gro-Barok 16:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Alright...for those using the PC version of Oblivion...you can kill him without it being 'murder'...hit the tithe key(not sure of the name..sorry.)..it's located to the left of the 1 key,and above the left tab key.Now..kill the Gray Prince first, take his armour,weapons..etc...Now hit the tithe key.The screen will freeze.Type in resurrect, and then mouse click on the Gray Prince, and then hit enter, and the tithe key again. The Grey Prince will be resurrected, complete with body armour..etc.Leave the arena, give the stuff to the grumpy woman. You'll be Grand Champion, and it won't be murder.

Or you could just type in the 'kill' command if you're gonna use the console. Legoless 22:50, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

What the hell?[edit]

The image on the article shows him using EBONY equipment not his actual equipment which is depending on your level:

Iron Steel Dwemer Elven

Also I experienced a glitch when I finished The Origin of the Gray Prince, challenged him and went up to the Arena. The Gates came down and he ran at me with he Iron blade. He went for my neck and almost hit me! So I talked to him and initiated his begging dialogue. Then he was then he fell like he was paralysed except without the green circlet of light. Then he got up and he just started burning and his health went down like a ICBM. So I searched him and there was no Blackwood Ring of Silence on him. If anyone has a reason for the picture of the Vamporc or Imporc (a cross between either an Imperial or a Vampire and an Orc) with too high quality armour or a reason for this blade-swinging, surrendering, paralysed and burning Vamporc then please tell me. Golden Eagle 13:57, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

The picture may have been taken by someone who uses mods and didn't realize it would be an issue here. As for the glitch, could be a simple AI glitch. It sounds like he progressed into advanced vampirism himself and thats the reason for him burning up in the light (this is not possible in the regular game). Are you using a mod? If not, then I have no explanation. — Unsigned comment by Vesna (talkcontribs) on 25 April 2010
No I'm on the 360. Golden Eagle 13:57, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Apologies, I have UOP installed, which makes his level +10. This means he now gets all armor and weapon types up till daedric. Eventually (i.e. when I play through the arena) I'll get a pic of him in his correct gear. --SerCenKing Talk 08:45, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Gee thanks! Golden Eagle 13:57, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Coward for a Champion[edit]

I have noticed that many NPC's who hold prestigous ranks or authority often retreat when confronted with battle. The Gray Prince is a good example. He is the Grand Champion of the arena, and yet when my summoned skeleton turned hostile he ran away and out of the arena. The same went for the rest of the arena combatants, except for Ysabel. Moderyn Oreyn was another example. Any thoughts on this? --Manic 22:49, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Speical Birthsigns[edit]

Does anybody have the hex code for Agronak's special NPC birthsign? SirNotAppearing 23:01, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

It's C425B. rpeh •TCE 12:36, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the hex code. I test drove it briefly. Holy cow, batman, it give plus 100 to blade and ?speed?. It also seems to give a constant fire damage of zero. This prevents fast travel. Perhaps it's sun damage, since he's half-vampire. I will have to check it again at night.— Unsigned comment by SirNotAppearing (talkcontribs) on 18 May 2011

Strange Choice of Words[edit]

"Unfortunately, the reality is far from his worst dreams." Am I mistaken in thinking that the writer had intended to say one thing then ended up combining two things in this sentence? Or was s/he perhaps implying that not even in Agronak's worst dreams could he envision this? Bushwhacker 17:01, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Probably the later, The Gray Prince was expecting be be given evidence of noble birth, not a vampiric father. Eric Snowmane 17:24, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

he'll probably have it heavly enchanted[edit]

ysbale says "he'll probably have it heavly enchanted so feel free to do the same for any armor". agronak's raiment of valor has the same attributes as any other raiment of valor so i don't get what's so special about it. — Unsigned comment by Anastasia0812 (talkcontribs) at 17:39 on 21 January 2012

The point is that his armor is heavily enchanted, not that it's heavily enchanted for a Raiment of Valor. Robin Hoodtalk 07:59, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Reflect?[edit]

I just killed the Grey Prince with a sneak attack with a very powerfully enchanted weapon that could kill even me, when I dealt the final blow, it killed me too. What the hell happened? I saw something in the fight with the guy with the Gray Aegis where I resisted Fire Damage, Drain Health, and Soul Trap (I have 100% Magic Resist) and probably others from my weapon.--205.201.200.62 18:33, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I went back and killed him again with power attacks and saw my health bar drop after each attack, I had to heal between attacks or killing him would've killed me. Looks like he has a Reflect Damage enchantment in there somewhere. The only mods I have that affect the Arena are the UOP and a mod that gives me a ring to go in without the arena raiment. --205.201.200.62 22:59, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
He has no reflect damage or magic effects, and none on his clothes. Mods sometimes have unintended effects, do you have any that affect spells? The Silencer has spokenTalk 00:05, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Also, try going in with nothing equipped at all. Yes, you'll probably die quickly, but if you can get a hit or two in, that'll tell you for certain whether it's something he's wearing (or that's affecting him) or if it's something you're wearing. If you determine it's something you're wearing that's causing the effect, then you can add things back one-by-one to figure out which one it is. Robin Hoodtalk 01:30, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Heightened Abilities[edit]

What's the basis for asserting he has heightened abilities due to his Vampiric heritage? --DagmarH (talk) 05:41, 24 January 2013 (GMT)

Maybe this? Just a guess, I'm not sure. — ABCface 05:57, 24 January 2013 (GMT)

grey prince armor?[edit]

I've looked everywhere, but cant find the highest quality shield/sword he can have equipped. On this page, I see someone marked "up till daedric", but I've only had him equip Elven from the leveled list. I'm level 46(used magic skills to power level/efficient leveled before leaving the imperial sewers. All help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance. Alter333 (talk) 20:54, 20 March 2014 (GMT)
