The Assassin Castle is a large castle that houses the assassin guild Andalis' Men.

Exterior[edit]

  • The exterior is located at coordinates: ODDDesert 01 -20, 5
  • The map marker is located at the base of the path leading up to the castle.

The castle is a small town unto itself, inhabited by hundreds of people and nearly self-sufficient. The only ones granted access are members of the order, who must undergo a rite of passage to be allowed to join. The castle is located atop a butte, accessible only via a single bridge across a gap from another nearby rock formation. A steep path leads up to the gate, which is guarded by a low-level member (Seldith).

The gate leads into the courtyard, which contains a sheep pen, a crane for transporting goods into and out of the castle, a communal well, and a shop of sorts where Gorald makes and sells his potions.

Dormitory[edit]

The dormitory is a large building that houses the rank-and-file assassins of the order. It is accessible from the courtyard. The quarters are simple; pallets are spread out on the floor in orderly rows, and crates, chests, and other containers take up much of the rest of the space. A large hearth in one wall provides heat in the winter months. A stairway leads up to the Empty Standing Tower, while another leads down to an exterior door.

Dungeon[edit]

A door from the courtyard leads to an anteroom, where the jailor sits; a gate blocks access to a set of stairs that leads down to a larger room with a single cell.

Empty Standing Tower[edit]

When you first join the order, this tower (accessible from the Dormitory) is used as an armory. Later on in the questline, you'll have a chance to make this tower into your home (see My Assassin Tower), at which point most of the contents will be removed and replaced with furniture you buy. There are, however, some potions hidden behind a crate near the door (they remain). If you do the quest Footprints in the Sand, Larsa's third note will also be found here.

Great Hall[edit]

The Great Hall is a large room where the assassins gather to take their meals. One half of the hall is empty and used for indoor practice; the other half has a long banquet table lined with chairs. A stairway leads to a room below that serves as Typhola's quarters as well as a storeroom, and another behind a locked gate leads up to the library. A door opens out into the courtyard.

House of Dancers[edit]

The House of Dancers is exactly as the name says - a place where pretty women dance for customers. This place is only accessible after you complete the quest The Gift. A door from the courtyard opens into a hallway; to the right, the hall leads to a large open room where the dancers perform, while the other end leads to a door that opens into a series of storerooms and work areas. The dancers' room has a double bed and a chessboard, as well as numerous rugs and hides on the floor. A door leads to the dancers' quarters.

Library[edit]

The library is a large room with several rows of bookcases holding a variety of books, as well as other odds and ends. An alcove in one wall holds a small table under a window, where the librarian, Clemente, does his work. Three bookcases in a horseshoe shape on the west wall conceal an open space behind them; a skeleton and a chest are hidden here, along with a Recipe for Pahmer Potion, an empty spirit stone, and a sack of random loot. Access to the library is restricted until the quest The Light in the Dark. You can also gain access to the library (later on) via a grate that leads outside through a hidden passage (see Assassin Dreams).

Pratice Area[edit]

This area is where members of the order receive training. The main area is a shaft with a spiral staircase leading down; there are three levels, each accessible via a door. The first level is a has a series of traps that must be disarmed; the second is an archery range; and the third is a series of pillars extending above a floor of spikes.

Washroom[edit]

The washroom

This room, accessible from the courtyard, is where the assassins do their laundry. It has a device set up along one wall to wash clothing efficiently; clothelines along two other walls are set up to hang laundry to dry.

Well Shaft[edit]

A ladder in the well in the courtyard leads down to a submerged cavern. You may need to climb down here to destroy a blockage during the quest The Light in the Dark; otherwise, there is nothing of interest here.
