Rellian

Rellian, a Redguard drillmaster, is a member of the Leyawiin Fighters Guild who can be found causing trouble at the Five Claws Lodge with his associates Dubok gro-Shagk and Vantus Prelius during the quest Drunk and Disorderly. You will need to find him and his companions new jobs in order to convince them to lay off the booze.

Rellian will not appear in-game until the related quest is started. Once the quest has been completed, he will spend all his time searching for Ogre's Teeth near Undertow Cavern, along with Vantus and Dubok, to fulfill their contract with Margarte.

He is equipped with a set of leather armor, missing only the helmet. He is armed with a silver longsword and carries a pewter mug and a small amount of gold.

Drunk and Disorderly[edit]

While entrusting you with a second Guild duty, Modryn Oreyn will explain the issue at hand and task you with tracking down the unruly guild members and sorting them out:

"Some of our boys are causing trouble in Leyawiin. Looks bad for the guild."
"Some of your brothers have been getting rowdy at the local tavern. I've got no problem with cutting loose, but I don't like it when we all look bad. You're looking for Rellian, Vantus Prelius, and Dubok gro-Shagk. I haven't had any trouble with them before, so find out what's going on."

When you arrive in town you'll hear about the drunkards from both ordinary citizens and fellow guild members respectively:

"There are some folks causing trouble, that's for sure. Head over to the Five Claws Lodge. You'll see."
"I suppose you got sent down here to stop them. Good. We've tried, but they won't listen. Head over to the Five Claws. You can't miss them."
"Causing trouble, yes. Causing much trouble."

Sure enough, you will first encounter Rellian chugging drinks inside the Five Claws Lodge and being generally obnoxious. A seething Witseidutsei, the inn's publican, will tell you what Rellian and his comrades have been up to:

"Causing trouble, yes. Causing much trouble. Scaring customers. Breaking furniture. Bad, bad men."

If you are not deterred by his hostile behavior and start a conversation with him, he will make it abundantly clear that he does not want your help:

"You'll keep your nose out of this, if you know what's good for you."
Causing trouble
"Trouble? Trouble? You're damn right! But it's not us, friend. The real trouble's with the Blackwood Company. They're what's causing trouble."
Blackwood Company
"Mercenaries is what they are, and they've hung up a shingle here in Leyawiin. Vantus can tell you more."

When ending a conversation before you've agreed to help the group, he will once again tell you to leave him alone: "Mind your own business."

While awaiting employment, he can be heard hurling insults against yourself, Witseidutsei and both of his companions:

Dubok gro-Shagk Vantus Prelius Witseidutsei Player
"You? You wouldn't know a good sword if it stabbed you in the throat!" "We wouldn't be here if you'd done your job!" "Don't get your tail in a knot." "What are you doing here?"
"Go back to your sty, pig man." "I should have stayed in Hammerfell." "Send me a drink, barkeep. And make it quick." "Keep walking, stranger."
"I've ridden horses with better sense than you." "You're not half the man your father was." "What are you looking at? Keep pouring drinks!" "Move along."

Meanwhile Rellian will himself be the target of insults from his companions and Witseidutsei:

Dubok gro-Shagk Vantus Prelius Witseidutsei
"Never liked you, Redguard. Never will." "You've always been too smart for your own good." "Leave here now, Redguard!"
"I'll snap you in half, little man." "I'm tired of working with you anyway. And you're a lousy swordsman, Rellian!"
"I'll show you where you can put that fancy sword!" "When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you."

After agreeing to help the unemployed trio, Rellian will stop insulting you on sight, though he'll still be rather impatient with you:

"Something you need? We still need work."
Fighters Guild Jobs
"I'd love some work. Seems like joining the Blackwood Company is the only way to get it, though."

Once you've managed to find new work for the group, but have yet to report to Vantus, you can ask Rellian about jobs:

Fighters Guild Jobs
"Some work would be a gift from the gods. If you've found something, tell Vantus."

Ending a conversation before you've secured him regular work will net you a reminder: "All we want is work to do."

After you've informed Vantus that you've found new work for the group, Rellian will change his tune:

"Thanks again."
"Can't thank you enough for your help. What do you need?"
Fighters Guild Jobs
"It appears we'll be busy for the foreseeable future. Thank you."

When exiting conversation he will now be thankful: "We appreciate it."

Notes[edit]

  • Rellian had two additional lines of dialogue ("This is not your affair." and "I'm waiting.") for when you approached him in the inn, but his other insults take precedence, so you will never hear these.

Bugs[edit]

  • Rellian and his comrades will still hurl insults in the direction of Witseidutsei even if she is dead and thus not present.
