Testing time of day[edit]

  • 9 AM was the earliest, 4 PM the latest. I did one test at 5 PM exactly and did not get the journal entry. The cut-off seems to be 4:59. Also did a test where I pulled Ano outside the city gates, so the time-of-day is the only requirement. --BenouldTC 14:12, 3 July 2008 (EDT)

Testing if previous kills count[edit]

  • Testing if previous kills count toward the 12 needed for cattle access.
    • Kills as a Human don't count, i.e. Morrowind:Slay Raxle Berne
    • Keld and companion counted towards the 12, as I needed exactly 10 kills to have Aundae reward me. --BenouldTC 14:12, 3 July 2008 (EDT)

Please check again, the CS shows journal requirements for the vampkills to increase/decrease. Maybe this changed in game versions; I have Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon, and the final patch. Narfblat 02:01, 28 August 2008 (EDT)

The information on the main page is NOT correct - killed vampires don't count towards the required number of killed vampires until you kill the vampire hunter and report back to the Aundae Clan leader. The game explicitly checks for the VA_VampHunter quest index 90 (=Ano Vando was killed during the day, successful execution reported to Dhaunayne).

This means, DO NOT kill ANY vampires in the game until finishing the Vampire Hunter quest (only exception being obviously Kjeld)

To fix, type into the console:

set vampkills to 12

To display your current VampKills count, type into the console:

Show VampKills

The game cannot increase the vampkills until it knows which clan you join. However, why Bethesda waits until the end of the second Aundae quest until it starts counting the kills is beyond me WRFan 24 August 2009 (EDT)

Are you sure it actually starts counting after this quest, or does it just check a value that has been increasing since joining a clan? I can't check my cs at the moment, but that would make more sense. Also, have you checked this against the other two clans, since they have similar final rewards? Finaly, has there been any in-game testing to confirm this? The only in-game coment I see supports the main article (as it was). -Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs) 21:22, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

@Dlarsh: Yes, the game only starts incrementing (or decrementing) the VampKills global variable after you complete the second quest, no matter which clan. Here's an excerpt from the Vampire_Berne script:

if ( OnDeath == 1 )

if ( GetJournalIndex "VA_VampHunter" == 90 ) ;Vampire Hunter killed during the day, Aundae quest

if ( VampClan == 1 )

set VampKills to ( VampKills + 1 )

elseif ( VampClan == 2 )

set VampKills to ( VampKills - 1 )

elseif ( VampClan == 3 )

set VampKills to ( VampKills + 1 )

endif

endif

elseif ( GetJournalIndex "VA_VampAmulet" == 30 ) ;Collected ingredients for Vamp Amulet, Quarra clan quest

As you can see, the VampKills global var is only increased if the second vampire quest (no matter which clan) is successfully completed.

I can confirm from my gaming experience that this quest is indeed buggy, as I've never been able to reach the VampKills count of 12, because I've killed some vampires PRIOR to killing the Vampire Hunter (my PC is an Aundae clan member), so those vampires are ALL wasted, as they do not count towards the magical number 12 WRFan 25 August 2009 (EDT)

I just checked the CS myself (English european GOTY version if that has any relevence) and I believe WRFan is correct. For what it's worth, I support the change, but I'm unable to perform an in-game verification with my current character since I'm already cured. -Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs) 14:32, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
I mainly added the VN tag as a way to subsitute WRFan's comment about the note. In the end, the note needs to be rewritten to reflect what really happens. --Timenn-<talk> 14:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the count starts after you kill the vampire hunter. I wiped out the Quarra clan along with Kjeld for the first quest, leaving only the 11 Berne vampires for the second quest. I even went and killed Mastrius, but he is Quarra bloodline but not of the clan, so the Aundae leader still won't recognize my vampire kills. Also: reward for killing the vamp hunter is a teleporting Aundae amulet, the signet ring is from the first quest. — Unsigned comment by 198.51.130.254 (talk) on 3 December 2009

Bugs, bugs, buggily bugs...[edit]

Game fails to acknowledge killing the vampire hunter at all. — Unsigned comment by 62.16.228.155 (talk) at 16:29 on 14 February 2014

Are you killing him during the day? Because you only get credit for killing him between 9am and 5pm. Jeancey (talk) 18:39, 14 February 2014 (GMT)
