The containers and items in Mzuleft, with the exception of "The Egg of Time" book and "Dwemer Scarab Plans", are all owned by Bugharz gro-Ular (ID: bugharz gro-ular). Bugharz isn't in Mzuleft itself but outside, in the Sheogorad Region. This seems to be a bug. The items and containers should have no ownership. The effect is that any type of item you loot here will be marked stolen. -Smokey — Unsigned comment by 175.138.176.90 (talk) on 13 September 2011

Thanks - I've added a note. rpeh •TCE 09:12, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Container Ownership[edit]

"Once Bugharz is killed, ... at a Daedric statue of Malacath." I added this section after playtesting with killing Bugharz and looting the container in Mzuleft which are mostly owned by Bugharz. The same applies for most locations I believe. I have also tested Dren Villa in Dren Plantation (containers owned by Orvas Dren) and Telvanni Tower in Vivec, Telvanni(containers owned by Mavon Drenim). In these 3 places, looting the owned containers while the owner is alive will marked the items as being stolen. Once the owner is dead, the container is safe to loot. However NPCs nearby will still report your crime or attack you. Free standing items not in containers which have an owner are always marked as stolen, even if the owner is dead. -Smokey

I concur, and I've removed the VN from the page. I've noticed it with various other individuals. If you kill somebody, any containers that are flagged as owned by that individual become free to loot. The most obvious example of this is the guy who murdered the tax collector in Seyda Neen. Once you kill him, you can freely loot the containers in his shack. --Gaebrial 08:58, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
