Bug Testing[edit]

Decided to test out this bug a bit, created a spell that fortified Attack, Strength, Short Blade and Unarmored on touch 100pts to give Rothis a bit of a 'helping hand'. He made quick work of Brethas this time =) But anyways, I still got the journal update and completed the quest. Rothis was indeed happy he won though not enough to reward, apparently. It might be worth noting that I'm playing the xbox non-GOTY. Jihiro 22:32, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it's definitely wrong on GotY too - Brethas has a script that checks for his death while in the Arena and sets the quest stage appropriately. I've removed the bug note. Thanks for checking! rpeh •TCE 10:18, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Odd, I meanwhile seem to be getting an issue that if Rothis wins the duel, I don't get the journal entry saying I watched the duel and I can't report back to Faral Retheran that the duel was completed. This is when playing the Xbox GOTYE. --Dragos Drakkar (talk) 00:35, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
Exiting and entering the Arena Pit through a loading door after the duel finished with no journal update seemed to trigger the script to check for Brethas' death after Rothis killed him so that the quest finally updated. --Dragos Drakkar (talk) 06:03, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Brethas Deras[edit]

Brethas Deras is a quest related NPC, we should make a page for him(Vvardfell 12:54, 3 February 2011 (UTC))

Done. It needs an image though. --Brf 15:08, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

Strange - I just helped the poor man win his duel - and nobody seems to take notice. He is happy that he won his duel, Retheran is happy because the duel was fought. Nobody seems to mind that I CHEATED. I wonder - could the reason be that I paralyzed the victim and watched Rothis attack him without attacking myself? After the first paralyze stopped working, Brethas naturally attacked me, and THEN I started fighting back. Together, we naturally beat him! Is it possible that the game does not recognize Paralyze as an attack, and therefore I officially did not cheat? And after Brethas* attack, I was of course eligible to defend myself, so once again, the rules were not broken! If that is really so, then this is a bug in my eyes :-) werfer 22:35, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

I think paralyze counts as an attack it is an offensive spell, so there could be another reason as to why it did not count as cheating although I don't not know of any. I think checking the CS or further in-game testing could help to find out if this was A. a one-off or B. what caused the possibility to cheat in the first place. Small point create a section like this one so people have a general idea of what the subject is before reading -- Thanks --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 15:08, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Just now, when the duel started, I jumped down into the arena and stabbed Brethas to death without bothering with anything like paralyze or other spells. Nobody seems to care, I didn't even incur a bounty or anything. The quest just finished normally. It's really strange that everyone seems to be fine with someone jumping into the middle of a duel. Does the game even check if you're cheating? - 94.219.234.218 15:32, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
There doesn't appear to be any penalty for killing either or both of them. I waited until Brethas killed Rothis, and then attacked and killed Brethas. I attacked each of them while they were fighting and then killed the winner. I also hit them both with a spell that killed them both. No bounty and still able to complete the quest. Maybe the thought is that if you're in the Arena Pit, you're there to fight. It would be interesting to try to take someone else into the pit with a Command Humanoid spell and see what happens when you kill them.Fiwiji (talk) 01:40, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
