About training[edit]
The edit I've just reverted was not wrong, in that it correctly gave the maximum score that can be reached. Whereas the previous value was the maximum at which he would still offer training. I think that could be made clearer. Any way, that edit might not have been a bad idea, but then the other listed trainers -- and not just for Armorer, but for all other skill pages as well -- should be updated likewise. Oh, and I've erased the previous comment on the talk page. It was an unsigned comment that got this page marked for deletion and was never replied to, so I hope you won't mind. --Gez 20:40, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
Level Question[edit]
Does someone know what level i need to be in armorer with 100 STR and 100 luck to have 100% of chance to repair the Daedric Wakizashi? it got 1100 conditions and i use a journeyman hammer (Quality: 1.00) — Unsigned comment by 174.95.31.62 (talk) at 17:44 on 24 November 2012
Repairing an item to its full durability doesn't seem to add skill points[edit]
I've repeated this about a hundred times in a row just because I had a suspicion about this but I have observed something a bit annoying. For the record I'm on GOTY Steam version only using the Morrowind Code Patch. For some reason if an item gets repaired and that repair fully repairs the item (such as a Slave Bracer going from 24 to 25 durability) then no skill points get added. Tried this a hundred times in a row and it added no skill points, regardless of tools used or object repaired. Repairing an item only adds skill points if the repair doesn't bring it to max. Annoying since this skill almost requires the player to hoard damaged/broken items and Scrolls of Baleful Suffering are invaluable in this aspect since the odds an enemy will lose much durability on any one item they wear in combat is extremely slim.
EDIT: After extensive testing I've discovered what my issue was. Repairing an item grants experience to the Armorers skill except for in one specific case: when an item as zero condition is repaired to full with a single use of a repair tool. Tried this on broken Netch Leather and Chitin gauntlets and pauldrons and the like, feel free to replicate this yourself. At low Armorer levels like 30 you can see each individual item will boost the skill by 1 or 2 points, except when one completely broken item is repaired to full. Any time an item had been repaired from zero to another number less than maximum, or when the item was repaired to maximum from at least 1 condition the skill gained progress towards the next level. So as long as the player uses soft-resets to make sure they don't repair something with a low total condition from zero to max in one go they won't be wasting any equipment for training Armorer. Armor doesn't take damage from Creatures[edit]
I'm a little shocked I couldn't find mention of this (maybe I just overlooked the right page), but armor doesn't take damage from being hit by creatures (with the exception of Shields when they Block). Only weapons damage armor. As a result, if you want to train Armorer, you'll want humanoids with weapons to wail on you! Bushwhacker (talk) 01:05, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- False; tested on vanilla Morrowind. Created a new character, equipped armor in perfect condition, then took hits from a mudcrab. Armor sustained damage.
- If you have mods installed, one of them might be responsible for the effect you've described. Salamangkero (talk) 14:38, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
