Does anyone have a picture of Sotha Sil?

Sotha Sil's Legs[edit]

why does he have robot legs? Do we have any info on how he got them?— Unsigned comment by 68.144.228.97 (talk)

Not much is known about the recent history of Sotha Sil, so as far as I know, no information exists on his legs.--Ratwar 22:10, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

He appears legless on tribunal shrines. Things that come to mind are 'a chair made from the blood of his minions' (he ain't standing), legs are required to walk the walking ways, and vivec had his feet cut off. So yeah, nothing conclusive.Temple-Zero 19:52, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Quotation Marking[edit]

Okay, I understand that the opening quote is from an in-game book. And that we put it in quotes because we're quoting it. But our outside quotes make the "quote marks" inside the quote confusing. And yet, to use 'single marks' would be to alter the quote.

Has this been addressed at any point? If not, can we? Somercy 23:13, 18 November 2008 (EST)

I'd say we should follow standard practice in such a situation, and change the quotes within the quotes into single quotes. Made somewhat more difficult in this particular case by wiki syntax, but nevertheless, done. --NepheleTalk 00:30, 22 November 2008 (EST)

Tribunal[edit]

What races were the Tribunal before they became immortal? Were they all Chimer?— Unsigned comment by Remorse1994 (talkcontribs) at 19;49 on 22 August 2009

They are all Chimer until the point Azura cursed them for betraying Nerevar. ~ Hairdo

Help![edit]

I cannot find a reference anywhere stating where Sotha Sils clockwork city is located, e.g. is it Solstheim, Mournhould or where? 174.23.26.228 06:26, 10 October 2009 (UTC)J

While there doesn't seem to be any defenitive evidence on the matter, I would assume that the city is either in/around/underneath Mournhold, or is its own self contained demi-realm created by Sotha Sil. Since the only way to reach the city is via teleportation (either by Almalexia or the Mazed Band you get at the end of Tribunal's main quest), my vote is for either buried city or alternate realm, but that's pure conjecture on my part. Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 06:46, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
It's underground beneath Old Ebonheart (on the mainland). I say Old Ebonheart because of the date. To quote the same book in the main page, 2920, Evening Star:
31 Evening Star, 2920
Ebonheart, Morrowind
In the smoky catacombs beneath the city where Sotha Sil forged the future with his arcane clockwork apparatus, something unforeseen happened.
The entrance to it, or how to get into it, is unknown. Excluding the Mazed Band, of course. 64.180.26.196 05:13, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
If you look behind where you teleport in the first time you are sent there, (NOT in Sotha's command center like you do once the quest is finished) there is a destroyed door that has been blocked by a cave in. Presumably (and yes I KNOW this is speculation and cannot be included in the article, so there is NO NEED TO TELL ME that) the door would open up to an underground cavern. It's probably similar to the Old Mournhold manors, but under Ebonheart. Flag-Waving American Patriot 17:28, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
I always thought Sotha Sil lived in Necrom. Im not sure why I think this, but I have no doubt that it is Sotha Sil's city. It certainly is (was) tribunal controlled and i doubt i just invented the lot of it 74.128.56.194 19:34, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

A Minor Note[edit]

This is just from memory, but I think I'm correct. Turala was a Dunmer who had been thrown out of her homeland (Mournhold I believe) for getting pregnant with the king(leader) of Mournhold (apparently she was from another house and this was an act of disrespect to her house). Anyways it was Turala who summoned Mehrunes Dagon which caused the destruction of Mournhold, although originally Cassyr was the one who tricked Turala into believing that Vivec was responsible for massacring her new clan of witches and killing her child (random orc attack, nothing to do with Vivec). My point being that Turala was NOT a Breton but a Dunmer. You can refer to 2920 series for confirmation. — Unsigned comment by 70.52.24.163 (talk)

Took care of it, thanks for pointing that out. Minor Edits 00:33, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

'Sotha' in other writing?[edit]

I've recently been reading about William Blake, known for creating his personal mythology and pantheon of Gods. One is named 'Sotha', and symbolises the outbreak of war. Maybe not verifiable, but I thought it was interesting enough to put up here for discussion. What do you guys think? --Admos 19:51, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Sotha Sil in Latin[edit]

On the UESP, Almalexia is noted for being able to form two latin words: "alm" and "lex", meaning kindly good. Curiosity drove me to see if Sotha Sil could mean anything. It turns out that "soth" and "sil" meant "forsooth wild". "Forsooth" is another word for "indeed", but usually used sarcastically. Is it possible that Bethesda did this as a hint to Sotha Sil's actual sanity, being that Almalexia says he is insane, when it is really reversed? Also, on a side note, how does one sign something? Good Heart/Bad Heart[edit]

I don't think that the Tribunal got weaker in time "because they worked deeds of good against the evil of the Heart [...] Dagoth Ur, who had also stolen power from the Heart, acted in accordance with its evil and grew stronger". I think they simply had a different bond to the power of the Heart; while they needed to replenish their divinity every year through the use of Kagrenac's tools, Dagoth died in the Heart chamber (in 1E 700) when he was already under its influence and this garnered him a different kind of connection. Think about it, he doesn't need the tools to draw power from the Heart (while they're needed to build Akulakhan). Also, the Heart doesn't seem to be affecting the minds of the Tribunal (I think because they're protected by Kagrenac's enchantments) as much as Dagoth's one, twisted by the closeness to such divine essence. In my opinion the Heart doesn't have 'plans' nor is 'conscious' or 'good/evil', it's just a source of power, yet having such a close connection to it without being protected by Kagrenac's enchantments influences and warps one's mind (afterall it's Dagoth who hates the Empire and outlanders, not the Heart).

The only idea that might be given by the Heart to those under its influence could be the 'lack of a body', the desire of the Heart to be whole again. Both Dagoth and Kagrenac wanted to build an artificial body for it afterall (Kagrenac must have spent much time close to the Heart before creating his tools to shield him from its influence). I'm not sure about this one though , it's just a hypothesis...

Ok, 'Heart' counter: 10

P.S. I found out where I got the idea about that madness thing from, the ingame book Kagrenac's tools shares my same opinion. Hidronax (talk) 14:55, 1 May 2013 (GMT)

Sotha Sil's Quote[edit]

Its my understanding that Sotha Sil's quote from 2920 is historical fiction although pretty accurate historical fiction. I would like to suggest that we change the quote to something that we know for sure that sotha sil actually says for sure and that is

"I am whatever the people need me to be. A guardian. An oppressor. For some, too distant. For others, too meddlesome. I am the canvas upon which they paint their dreams and resentments. A vessel for their hopes and doubts. A mirror. Nothing more." -Sotha Sil

That shows off sotha sil's personality pretty well and shows that while he may not think of himself a god, he is whatever people needs him to be. and I love sotha sil for that. — Unsigned comment by Zebendal (talkcontribs) at 22:28 on 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Sotha Sil Fourth Era[edit]

Can someone who is good at phrasing rephrase the fourth era to make it seem less about the forgotten hero and more about the fate of sotha sil's legacy?Zebendal (talk) 22:55, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Rim of Sky's Lore Expansion[edit]

I'd like to suggest adding a note on sotha sil's sister sotha nall possibly being used as a factotum voice as noted in the factotum lore page. Sermon 37 mentions sotha sil's daughter memory, it would be noteworthy to add that she exists in official text but it would be worth adding UOL references she is based off of since we dont have much info on official lore side. A picture of Sotha Nall's hologram projection would be a good visual for the page. A picture of sotha sil's arteum room with his clockwork items would be nice since it shows he kept working on improving his creations. Thank you for your time. Zebendal (talk) 07:53, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do, thanks for the suggestions! The Rim of the Sky (talk) 17:53, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Remove WIP Disclaimer?[edit]

It seems time to remove the Rim of the Sky's WIP tag, as he has made only a minor edit since June 2020 while many others here are clearly editing it despite the WIP tag in place. — Unsigned comment by Cheesewheel2011 (talkcontribs) at 23:39 on 9 May 2021 (UTC)

I've removed it since you're correct. Imperialbattlespire (talk) 06:17, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
