Meridia[edit]

I'm actually not sure if Nenalata worshipped Meridia. Delodiil surely did, but Dynar curses in Auri-El's name, not By the Light. Should that be edited? ~ manavortex 18:41, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

After some digging, Dynar seems to definitely worship/work with Meridia to a provable degree: "I am a servant of Meridia. Her master tactician and strategist. Between my master's blessings and the time-distorting nature of this dread realm, I am still alive. Consider that your good fortune, for you will never defeat Molag Bal without my help. "
So I think it's accurate. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:03, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. However, literally everyone in the Fighters Guild was at that time working for Meridia. Timeoin (talk) 07:18, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
I'm not questioning that Dynar works for (not necessarily worships, after three thousand years of torture, possibly) Meridia. He says that she thought he would fulfil her prophecy. However, I don't think we have enough information to reliably state that Nenalata worshipped her like Delodiil did
Main points against that I see:
Nenalata was very big against slavery, even warred against the slavers (I still need to dig into that one). Her champion Umaril was sort of... not
Delodiil, and not Nenalata, is "Her city", despite Dynar being the next best thing to a champion Meridia has post-Umaril.
Auri-El!
Sorry for messing things up. This is my current obsession. ~ manavortex 14:06, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Either way, this argument hinges on the personal beliefs of Laloriaran Dynar. I think the weight of evidence here favours Nenalata being a Meridian Daedraphile city. A throwaway expletive used by Dynar isn't really much to go on. —Legoless (talk) 20:26, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
Still think that there's no evidence _for_ it but circumstantial evidence against it and it shouldn't be included until we get either. :) ~ manavortex
I still see no circumstantial evidence against it. To address your other points more specifically:
"Nenalata was very big against slavery": False. A Life of Strife and Struggle states that one of Dynar's struggles during the Late Ayleid period was the "Wrenching transition to a slave-less economy".
"Delodiil is Her city": This is irrelevant, in my view. There is nothing to suggest the Princes only had one Ayleid settlement dedicated to them. See, for example, Garlas Malatar, which was another suspected Meridian city.
If anything, there is robust circumstantial evidence to suggest Nenalata was a Daedraphile settlement. Again A Life of Strife and Struggle provides some guidance here, noting the city's "Forced adoption of Alessia's Eight Divines" in the Late Ayleid Period. A single line of dialogue mentioning Auri-El does not negate this. —Legoless (talk) 21:55, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, point on slavery mistaken - I do remember that Dynar helped the humans against the worst slavemasters or some such, but I can't for the life of me find the source. Anyone got it? Got the impression that Nenalata was basically only doing organic slavery.
Anyhow, not debating daedraphile. Just debating Meridian. — Unsigned comment by Manavortex (talkcontribs) at 21:57 on 8 September 2018 (UTC)
