Exact position[edit]

Okay, so I dug through the ESO text file in an effort to determine the exact position of this mountain range. Here are the facts I found:

  • Skyreach Hold is located in the Dragontail Mountains.
  • Dragonstar is located in the Dragontail Mountains.
  • The city of Hallin's Stand was once attacked by the goblins from the Dragontail Mountains, who had to cross the Fallen Wastes to reach the city.
  • The Valley of Blades is also located in the Dragontail Mountains, but its desert landscape suggests that it is located somewhere to the west or southwest of Craglorn.

Based on these facts, it seems that the Dragontail Mountains include the whole Upper Craglorn and then curve towards the Fallen Wastes and perhaps even further. It is a bit similar to how they're shown on the Redguard map.

Are these facts enough to mention the location of the Dragontail Mountains in the article? If so, to what extent? I welcome all your thoughts. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 14:07, 18 January 2015 (GMT)

That seems fine, although that Redguard map seems to imply that the mountains end at the Bjoulsae, instead of continuing on to the coast as the region did in Daggerfall. —Legoless (talk)
Sounds good. To me it seems like, primarily, the mountains include Upper Craglorn and form the eastern border of Bangkorai. They may merge into the Druadach near the Skyrim border without much clear distinction. Regarding the discrepancy between the Redguard map and Daggerfall, that could be indicative of a spur of some sort — for example, the Fallen Wastes may be enclosed between the spurs, with the northern one ending at the Bjoulsae and containing Bangkorai Pass, and the southern one extending to the coast and forming the border between Bangkorai and Alik'r. --Enodoc (talk) 16:44, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
My thoughts exactly. Thank you both. I'm still trying to figure out how to "dedaggerfallize" the lore article without removing the mention that the mountains were a political entity at the time of Daggerfall. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 16:53, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
This was discussed quite a while ago between myself and Jeancey, but it never progressed to anything (probably because nobody else saw it). It was suggested that all the Daggerfall-based region articles be changed to/merged with city articles, due to the limited distinction between them and the fact that they are all "city states". For the case of the Dragontail Mountains, this would result in information of the Daggerfall political region moving to a new Dragontail article, while the page on the mountains can be purely geographical with a minor mention of the fact the name was used politically. --Enodoc (talk) 17:09, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
Alright, I can try to do it that way. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 17:45, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
Actually, I'd like for us to revisit that Glenumbra discussion before continuing with that logic in lorespace. To summarise my views in regards to this page, I think the Dragontail Mountains political entity, the city of Dragontail and the geographical mountains themselves should be distinguished. —Legoless (talk) 17:55, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
I've read it. It is a bit strange, because it looks like Enodoc and Jeancey weren't aware of the existence of Glenumbra Moors themselves in ESO at the time. Nevertheless, for me, both Enodoc's and your idea are acceptable, I just need to know which one I should follow when I change the article. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 18:03, 18 January 2015 (GMT)
The article is ready and is waiting in my sandbox to be added. So, how should we do it? --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 21:08, 20 January 2015 (GMT)
I say just update the article, we can worry about creating new pages for the Daggerfall oddities afterwards. I've removed the transclusion on the Daggerfall page, so this page can be completely geographical. —Legoless (talk) 21:16, 20 January 2015 (GMT)
Done. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 21:22, 20 January 2015 (GMT)
