Morachellis Hag-Husband (or simply called Morachellis)[1] was a legendary skald and philosopher who hailed from the province of Skyrim. The exact time he was active is unknown, but in his prime, Morachellis was well-known for his eccentricity and rose to prominence with his signature pan flute, which was crafted from the leg bone of his twin brother after his accidental death. However, the story behind his pan flute's origin is dubious as Morachellis would sometimes confirm it or deny it.[2]

History[edit]

As evident from his pan flute, which may have been crafted from his twin brother's leg bone, Morachellis was an Ancient Nord.[2][3] He is remembered as an esteemed alumni of the Bards College, an institute in the heart of Solitude. After his graduation, Morachellis began to wander the realms of Tamriel with his pan flute in hand, and he became well-known across the Arena.[1] Throughout his lifetime, he made several statements that stirred controversy. For instance, he speculated that a troll's third eye allows them to see the world of spirits that is coterminous with the living world. He also suggested that horkers turn into mammoths and that fire should be classified as a beverage.[4]

Morachellis also speculated about the creation of the Doomcrag, the great spire of Erokii. He claimed that the Ayleids built the tower to create a metaphysical structure that would be the focus of Aurbic power, much like the Adamantine Tower of Balfiera. While other prominent scholars like Phrastus of Elinhir could not make sense of the statement, it does, however, align with the concept of the Towers.[5] Another scholar, Telenger the Artificer, also believed that the Doomcrag was a failed imitation of the Towers.[6]
