Macke of the Piercing Eyes was a Harbinger of the Companions in the First Era. Known for her great beauty, she was among the most notable Harbingers recorded by Swyk the Long-Sighted.[1]

History[edit]

Jorrvaskr, the mead hall of the Companions.

Little is known about Macke's time with the Companions. It is said that those who underestimated her due to her beauty would never make the same mistake again.[1] According to legend she was said to have routed half an advancing army with her mere gaze, then slaughtered the remaining half with her blades singlehandedly. Some scholars by the mid-Second Era deemed this tale preposterous.[1][2]

After eight years as Harbinger, Macke mysteriously disappeared, never to be found.[1][2] Many slanderous rumors arose in response.[1] Macke's disappearance marked the end of the First Era, and the beginning of the Companions' dark period. These dark times would persist for centuries until the late Second Era, when Kyrnil Long-Nose stormed Jorrvaskr and restored the old ways of earning honor through blood.[1]
