Lamp of the Satakalaam in the High Temple

The Lamp of the Satakalaam is a sacred ornament that dates back to the time of the Ra Gada. It is an item of importance to the Redguard culture and religion. Together with Sword of Shabnam and Majeel's Scroll, they represent the aspects of the Redguard in body, mind, and spirit. The lamp represented the spirit.[1][2]

Together with two other relics, it was dedicated centuries before the time of the Three Banners War, back when the High Temple of Satakalaam was built. Since then, they have been the sacred tokens of Satakalaam's High Temple. Although all temples had relics to honor the gods, the Lamp of the Satakalaam was specific to this temple.[1]

History[edit]

Circa 2E 582, during the Three Banners War, the temple was ransacked by the Imperials of the Seventh Legion during their occupation of the city. The Imperial cultists of Molag Bal slaughtered all the clergy (save for High Priest Zuladr), defiled the sacred grounds and stole the artifacts. Zuladr asked thr Agent of the Daggerfall Covenant to help him restore the relics. The relics were found within the city perimeters. The agent succeeded and delivered the relics back to the temple, where they placed them back on their respective altars. The city was eventually liberated and Zuladr swore to build a shrine to honor his fellow priests that were slain during the Imperial attack.[1][2][3]
