"The Dwemer were not unified in their thinking. Kagrenac and his tonal architects, among them Bthuand Mzahnch, believed they could improve the Dwemer race. Others argued that the attempt would be too great a risk. The war with Nerevar and the Dunmer may have led Kagrenac to carry out his experiments prematurely. Although this book argues that nothing disastrous could result, the disappearance of my race argues otherwise"Yagrum Bagarn[1]

Bthuand Mzahnch was a prominent Dwemer smith, tonal architect and scholar. He worked under the leadership of Kagrenac alongside other notable figures such as Dahrk Mezalf. His contributions to the Dwemer's technological advancements were significant.[1][2][3]

Aside from his craftsmanship, Mzahnch was also a skilled writer. His most well known work, The Egg of Time was a refutation of a popular theory among some Dwemer that using the power of the Heart of Lorkhan was too great a risk. In this book, Mzahnch presents several compelling arguments against this notion, challenging the idea that the power of the heart should not be utilized. Similar to his master Kagrenac, Bthuand Mzahnch also had faith in the Heart's potential for improving their race. While Bthuand's book argues that working with the Heart could not cause disastrous outcome, the disappearance of the Dwemer suggests otherwise.[1][2][4]

Little is known of his fate, but almost all the Dwemer mysteriously disappeared in 1E 700.[5]

Notes[edit]

  • Bthuand Mzahnch shares his first name with the name of the ruins of Bthuand.[6][7] His surname name was also a name of another Dwemeri complex, Mzahnch.[8][9]
