Image Width[edit]

New logo looks good, but it's a little wide. I use IE, with font set to "smaller". At this width, the image chops into the main page area. Problem gets worse at smallest font size size, but disappears at Medium and larger sizes. --Wrye 00:53, 3 September 2006 (EDT)

That's because the background is embedded into the image. Why not just give it an alpha channel? It's already a .png, might as well use the features. (Alpha is about the only reason to use .png files on a website.) Of course, it would still overlap, but only the corner would, and it wouldn't look as bad as the background overlapping the site the way it does now. If you're unsure how to do that, just send me the .psd file and I can whip it up pretty quickly. --TheRealLurlock 01:03, 3 September 2006 (EDT)
I don't mean to be critical, but the new logo is the biggest piece of... No, I'm kidding. The new logo kicks arse! I don't have any width problems, but atm I'm viewing in firefox. Perhaps just use a better browser than IE :P --teh dave 12:16, 10 September 2006 (ACST)

Transparent[edit]

Would it be possible to replace Image:wiki.png with Image:wiki3.png? (i.e. with a transparent background) It would be useful if one wanted to use the image elsewhere, or personalize the background color of the wiki. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 16:30, 6 June 2008 (EDT)

Well, obviously both images are available on the site and you can use either one elsewhere, depending upon your preference. But the actual image shown on UESP pages is neither of these: it's the jpg image at Image:wiki.jpg. It's not transparent, but the dramatically smaller size of jpg vs png is far more important for an image that gets downloaded thousands of times per day. --NepheleTalk 16:46, 6 June 2008 (EDT)
What I meant was that if I specify on my stylesheet
body
 {
  background-color:#000000;
 }
For example, the wiki logo will still have a parchment background around it. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 16:56, 6 June 2008 (EDT)
Yes, but what I'm saying is that tweaking the site so that personalized stylesheets work isn't the top priority. The top priority is making it so that pages load as efficiently as possible for all readers, including the thousands of non-registered readers. Therefore, the logo is being displayed using a jpg image, not a png image, because the jpg image is ten times smaller than the png. And jpg images do not support transparency. --NepheleTalk 17:15, 6 June 2008 (EDT)
