And the discussion continues … The in-game book has 2 differences to the depiction given here:

• It lacks a number for the part/volume; numbering starts for Part II.
• It has the "naughty" tag (see [Bytes 0x80-87], which means, besides name and author one can read in the description the word "naughty".

"Naughty" appears for several books in Daggerfall, some more from the Barenziah series, too.
In addition Part VIII is named "The True Barenziah, Part VIII" instead of "Real".
I'd like to apply these features to the Daggerfall editions here (not to the lore ones), perhaps explaning them in a small note like in other books. In a wiki the content should reflect the facts, shouldn't it? -- CompleCCity (talk) 08:17, 6 June 2014 (GMT)

I did notice that slight discrepancy with part 8. The text on the site should match the text of the book as it appears in-game, but the bit about "naughty" doesn't belong, as it's a result of hacking and doesn't actually appear in the text of the book. For the article on part 8, I would say it's appropriate to note how that one part is titled differently from the rest of the series. As for this page, while you are correct that the first part isn't actually numbered, there's already a page under the first part's proper title (i.e., without the number): the page used to describe the entire series. The title of this page is probably only meant to distinguish it as the first part in the series, so moving it might create some confusing problems.

Also, while it's good to ask if you're not sure about something, you don't need to ask before making every edit. If you notice an error in the site's information, it's okay to change it as long as you provide an explanation in the edit summary. The only exception is when a change is drastic or might be controversial (such as a page move); for things like correcting text, it's okay to just make the change yourself. Thanks for your opinion. A question regarding "naughty": I'm on my PC not able to play Daggerfall (can't attack, weapon doesn't move), so I'm not able to check the books in game. Therefore I have to rely on "hacking". As far as I understand, the word "naughty" is positioned in the header of the bok*.txt where title and author are given. So shouldn't it be readable when examining the book where you see the title, author, price etc.? If so then it sure could be listed here because it's part of the game. If not then you're certainly right.

Er… I don't ask for permission before every single edit I do. But this is a bigger thing, affecting many pages here. And because I can't check Daggerfall related stuff in the game itself, I thought it'd be better to put in on discussion before …

You'd really need to check ingame to see what the 'naughty' shows up as. The overview page would conflict with Part 1, but the titles can always be changed using |title= in the summary. Part 8 at the very least needs a redirect with that name, but the name the book has when viewed as an object in the world is the main page name. I was more referring to changing the text discrepancies than the page move, which would indeed be pretty drastic. I'm glad you understand though. Not everyone does, so the "be bold" thing often has to have a caveat attached to avoid sending the wrong message :P

Okay, never done redirects before … Let me try to understand you:

I should make a new page Daggerfall:The_True_Barenziah,_Part_VIII with it's content. Adjusting the links on overviews and the prev + next in vol. 7 + 9 to that new page (without changing the name if it's mentioned), and redirect Daggerfall:The_Real_Barenziah,_Part_VIII to the new one?

Or would it be enough to change |title in vol. 8 to "True" instead of "Real"? Where do I then need a redirect?
