For the first qualifying bout in Noura's invitational tournament, I will face the Breton spellsword Connelain of the Reach.

Introductions[edit]

The first bout in the invitational tournament pits you against Connelain of the Reach, depending on if you have fought him before, Noura's dialogue and his dialogue will be different.

When first starting the quest Noura will say:

"Hello, <PlayerName>! We're finally ready to begin the qualifying trials. Are you as excited as I am?"
Yes.
"Wonderful! I knew you'd like it."
Probably Not.
"Be sure to save some of that fire for the actual tournament, Warrior..."

If you have fought Connelain in jobs before Noura will say:

"Your first bout will be against a young warrior from the Reach named Connelain.
I believe you two have fought before, isn't that right?"
Yes, we have.
"Well then, you already know what to expect. Have a good fight!"

If you haven't fought Connelain in jobs before she will instead say:

"Your first bout will be against a young warrior from the Reach named Connelain.
He's a bit green, but he's got a lot of spirit."
I'll crush it.
"Heh. I know you will..."
Maybe he'll defeat me.
"Sure, anything's possible. Head up to the Arena, and we'll find out!"

In The Old Arena[edit]

In preparation for fighting Connelain, make sure you have a weapon that is capable of fire damage and fire-based spells such as fireball. Connelain is capable of casting Absorb and can use dodging strike.

Once you enter the arena and approach Connelain he will say:
