Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

This quest is started through the Town Gossip topic, after you've gained 15 points of Leyawiin reputation.

Carmina is an alchemist who lives in the Khajiit Quarter and sells her potions to the poor and underprivileged. The problem is, she isn't licensed, and thus can't compete with the Mages Guild's prices. She wants Alves Uvenim to lower her prices, so she has an idea - she'll get you to dump a potion under the Mages Guild door that attracts cats, because Alves is highly allergic to them. From then on, every night from 7pm to 7am, cats will gather outside the door and yowl and fight.

Once you've done the deed, go back to the Mages Guild and talk to Dagail. She'll give you the go-ahead to certify Carmina, but only if you cure Alves. Carmina's happy to agree - she'll give you the cure, along with an odor neutralizer. The cats will immediately cease their gathering when you dump the potion under the door again, and Alves will be cured. Tasvi, however, is unhappy with the whole thing and has threatened to go to the Count, so you'll have to mediate with her. She'll back off, and once you let Carmina know what's going on, the quest will be complete.

1
5 The whole city is talking about how Carmina and Alves Uvenim from the Mages Guild fought in the square. I should ask Carmina or Alves Uvenim what the matter is and if they need help.
10 Carmina gave me a whole lecture on how the Mages Guild overcharges people with their expensive potions. Carmina, of course, is no saint either, but what if she can force Alves Uvenim to reduce her prices? Carmina asked me to pour a potion in front of the door to the Mages Guild, the results should upset the guild.
20 The potion is spilled, time to go. The night promises to be disturbing for the mages, the name of the potion "Cat's Joy" sounds promising. Maybe I should nearby and observe? Tomorrow I will find out the result in the Guild.
30 The cat's night is over. Time to visit the Mages Guild.
40 The Guild is vigorously discussing that night. Agata is furious, and Alves Uvenim can neither speak nor work. Agata advises I talk to Dagail if I want to get anything from the Guild right now.
50 Dagail is ready to accept certification for Carmina, but only if Carmina cures Alves Uvenim.
60 Carmina gave me medicine for Alves Uvenim, which needs to be given to Agata in the Mages Guild. And a second bottle must again be poured under the Guild door.
65 Cats will no longer harass the venerable alchemists of the Mages Guild of Leyawiin at night. Probably...
70 Agata warned that Tsavi, the castle mage for Count Marius, was unhappy with Carmina's actions and intends to inform the count of the conflict. I should tell her about the truce so that the count doesn't punish Carmina.
80 Fortunately, Tsavi has agreed not to tell Count Marius, so Carmina won't get into trouble. I should go to Carmina to let her know.
100 Finishes quest☑ Carmina was pleased with the result of her dirty little trick. She will have a certification from the Leyawiin Mages Guild and can now trade her potions legally.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANLeyawiinCompetitors stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
