Redguard Bugs
19 February 2011
Well, I'm sad to say I have to create this page, but I suppose its next to impossible for any program
to be completely perfect. Please feel free to Contribute
any 'Undocumented Program Feature' to be included here.
- The Void (v1.0.1.0): Yes folks, the void is still around. I discovered it in the Harbour Town down by the
docks (not the one with Prnell and the telescope). I was coming up the stairs from the 1st floor and
my momentum carried me into the door. I was half-in and half-out of the wall for a second or so
before everything went black and I started to fall. After a few seconds I got the 'Reload last save
game' bit. Interesting... I've noticed the void in a number of other places too, in the Goblin caves while
bouncing off a mushroom for one.
- Auto-Defend (v1.0.1.0): I've noticed some interesting things while using auto-defend. Sometimes, in my
haste to kill my opponent, I think I am pressing both defend and attack at once. Afterwards holding down
auto-defend no longer works (Cyrus does not defend himself). I have to attack a few times for it to
restart or something. This has caused a number of reloads since my opponent usually gets a few hits in
while I'm trying to figure it out.
- Map Marker (v1.0.1.0): I've noticed that the red 'X' map marker is too high by about 10-20 pixels or so, at least
on the island of N'Gasta.
- Shark Freeze (v1.0.1.0): Three times in a row my computer has frozen when I've fallen into the
water while trying to get to the Isle of N'Gasta. I fall in, a shark gets me, I press ESC to get the main menu page to reload.
The game accesses the hard-disk for a while but nothing happens and I cannot return to Windows forcing me to reset.
- Combat/Talking (v1.0.1.0): There's a bit of a problem while talking and people trying to
kill you. For instance, I starting talking to Trithick but the guards noticed me just after I started. They came over
and began pummeling me but I took no damage. As soon as I exited the the conversation I began to take damage, and by the
time I could actually move I had lost 50-60 health. Another problem arises when you try to attack your opponent and
a bystander is too close...you'll get that 'They aren't armed message'. You would think they would be smart enough
to not walk into the middle of a sword fight.
Evidently, someone brought this up in the Redguard forum and one of the developers mentioned that this was done on
purpose (unconfirmed). Still, you gotta wonder why...
- Erasmo (v1.0.1.0): A few strange things about this fellow (well, other than the
obvious...;). If I stand just inside the entrance I see him 'jump' from one place to another. That is, he moves
spontaneously from one position to another. Also, one time when I attempted to talk with him the game froze because
he kept trying to come closer to me with his buggy (the wheels kept turning and nothing happened for a long while).
- Missing Kotaro (v1.0.1.0): After you defeat N'Gasta and return to town, Kotaro is
missing but you will still see the 'Talk to Kotaro' option when you approach his table. If you do the action Cyrus
will just stand there, waiting to talk to him. The only option is reload a game since you are stuck. This happened
a few other times to people that were there. Cyrus just stands there and the conversation is never started. On a
possible related note, after I reloaded from this event I could no long enter any building. The text 'Enter Building'
never appeared as I approached the door. I had to quit and restart the game to correct this.
- Picking up Items (v1.0.1.0): You know how you backup or move forward to pick up an
item? The problem with this is that if there is an object blocking Cyrus's path he will sometimes continually attempt
to back up with no effect. Your only option is too reload a previous game.
- Beetle Bug (v1.0.1.0): I first notice this "Bug" when I was on the beetle. I would get
stuck and start to go into a spasm. I eventually got out of this mess but when going to the next level, the pipes,
I would immediately slide down to the pillar on the slope and get stuck permanently. I have tried to restore on
the previous level with no luck in sight. I always get stuck.
