A place to discuss and ask questions about the fourth part of The Elder Scrolls series and its expansions

I just noticed a rather odd but interesting thing today. My Items Stolen stat is 92 yet i've literally not stolen anything beyond maybe, one or two quest items that weren't marked as stolen due to them being required for the quest. Literally no red items have been in my inventory. Nothing record on the wiki about it. Just a rather odd thing. Has this happened to anyone else? I think it happened after the Dagon Shrine quest once i retrieved my items.

How many items were in the chest when you recovered your items?

None. I gave it all to harrow, killed him when I decided to introduce myself via the power of Destruction magic and didn't notice anything until I checked the stats randomly hours later. No bounty, no marked stolen items. Just really bizarre and interesting.

Items are technically stolen if they are owned by an NPC or faction. The red hand display just means you'll get in trouble for stealing it. This essentially means you should probably just ignore that statistic since it's based off buggy technicalities rather than actual crimes committed.

I did not know that. I associated stealing with the red items. I did loot a lot of the Mythic Dawn. Mainly for a RP reason of making sure none of their vile books are ever discovered and if i could, i would have burnt all of it down.

Yeah, I noticed that when I first played it. I hadn't stolen anything outside of quest-related items, but the statistic was in the thousands. At the time I was proud of stuff like having 0 hours waited and 5 times as many quests completed as days past, but whom exactly were those stats impressing? I found as soon as I stopped keeping a close eye on useless things like that the game became more enjoyable.

I ignore the "Assaults" stat. I did not assault anyone. Merely pre-self defended myself with magic and took out some people that were going to attack me if i didn't do so first. That said, up to 19 assaults so far. None are legitmate assaults. Tis one of Oblivion's little quirks. It was just an interesting discovery.

Example of "invisible" itmes---Anything from the crates by the pirate ship at the Waterfront are all stolen items (possibly things from inside the ship too), and stolen money puts each coin on your ledger.
