Raminus's idea of a "break" is taking on 3 liches at once, as a pure mage. Wut.

The Shivering Isles Gatekeeper and the Gray Aegis arena combatant are basically here to tell pure mages to go f' themselves.

After years of playing this game, I finally got the Hatred weapons.

Congrats! The Hatreds weapons are superb if you play them right, but are (depending on level) expensive junk if you don't.

For some reason, the weapons are super OP against monsters because the slow effect causes them to basically be paralyzed. Actually, more powerful than paralysis because they don't fall over thereby reducing their hitbox. They move very slowly, which is basically just standing still. Oddly, this only works against "white soul" enemies. "Black soul" enemies don't suffer nearly as much.

It depends on their speed rating. Humanoids, Minotaur Lords, spiders, Mt lions et al. are faster and not affected as much and you need a lot more darkness to remain hidden from them after a shot.

Re: The 'What You Did in Oblivion Today' thread

True, but lions also have lower health, so they just die. As you know, after a certain level, goblins learn democracy, and all become lords. However, those lords will still be affected by that mass speed reduction.
Oh, another thing that I learned. As you know, wearing zealot robes will help with disguises, but if you're too close to one, they'll find out. However, this only applies to human zealots. For example, in Rotten Den, there are plenty of zealot-aligned shambles that are obviously not human. If you're in zealot robes, you can walk up to their face (or skull or whatever), and they won't go hostile.

Forced to escort Umbacano all the way to Nenalata because it took so long that the dungeon that I had previously cleared actually managed to respawn everything, but Umbacano still wasn't there. I had to use console commands to moveto his position before walking him there.

I did after clearing the dungeon once. I got impatient when the dungeon respawned, and he still wasn't there.

I barely made it through a 15-minute playthrough of Battlespire.
I wish they had just made the story into an in-game book... It appears to have interesting lore, but the most godawful gameplay from an era of extreme maturation.

The game apparently knew that I picked the Atronach stone. The daedra in Kvatch, when you first enter, all just "happened" to be clannfear.

Re: Atronach stone
The journey from Weynon Priory to Kvatch takes you past hundreds of the novice ingredients for making restore magic potions. And, for archers, the tutorial + Fort Nikel +road bandits =~300 arrows. The game path provides.

There is tremendous power via building combat skill points (Destruction, Marksman, Blade etc. [focus on one]) to be gained at the start of the game by going to and through Kvatch.

I meant that the idea of the Atronach stone is to absorb enemy magic. What does the game do? Refuse to give you any mage enemies.

How do loot drop rates even work? I've been save scumming to get the Ice Cuirass. Somehow, the Marauder Warlord has dropped enchanted ebony and dwarven stuff, including the rare Boots of the Atronach, but not the orcish stuff, which should be in the middle. My character is level 18.

Currently making my way from Leyawin to Cheydenhal. I need to collect the reward for my first Dark Brotherhood kill tho I made a stop in Leyawin to deliver the Tears of some warrior to a mage there. Now I found a cave with lots of armor and loot I need to sell but I can't carry it all at once so it's taking a few trips.

May be a while before I get to Cheydinhall

Re: Loot drop rates.

Bosses always have best for level weapons [I do not know how it works out for different pieces of armor - boots vs cuirass], which works out to mundane at first available level and then enchanted shows up two levels later w/ 50/50 chance. The enchanted will still be available when the next mundane type appears and you still have a 50/50 chance of either [I tested this out on Vampire boss bows and am assuming it works the same with armor]. Ebony armor shows up at level 15 and will be enchanted at level 17. Orchish enchanted should appear from level 12 to 16.

This morning I went back into the Imperial City Sewers just because. It isn't terribly interesting and satisfying to revisit the places you've already cleared, especially locations that don't respawn a lot of the enemies that were there the first time, but I'm currently working on two quests-- getting two rare bottles of wine for Alchemy Training, and stealing enough goods to make my next fencing goal-- and the sewers seemed like a good way to access some cellars to ransack. I mean, I could just go steal the rare wine from where I know it to be from earlier games and the wiki, but I'm pretending I don't know.

The thieves guild reward is good for loot carrying too, so it is good to complete that questline early. You can fast travel into Waynon Priory without worry about patrols and store loot in the chest Jeofre opens for you. Otherwise hot key it and take it off as soon as you land in the Market district. I prefer making Feather potions to the spells because for me building Alchemy as a minor skill for intelligence +poisons +potions, is better than building alteration (which I usually have as a junk major skill). I also mostly choose Warrior sign +Strength bonus to help haul loot.
