After trying to play Morrowind on Xbox and getting fed up with only getting to watch loading screens and not get to actually play the game, I finally got the Anthology pack and am now playing on pc. It is a lot better on pc. Anyway, I'm doing the fighters guild quest the necromancer of vas. Every time I go in there I get some kind of affliction that drops my strength to 0. The only way I have found to cure it is to go to an altar and get the restore attribute blessing. Cure poison, cure disease, and cure blight disease potions don't help it. Is there any other way to cure it? or prevent it from happening?

You're being cursed by something. Try bringing potions of dispel.

Ahh... hadn't tried that potion yet. thanks, I'll give it a try.

ok that didn't work. I went to about a dozen shops and only found 1 dispel potion. I went in, got cursed by the first monster, took the dispel potion, and as far as I could tell absolutely nothing happened. I did however go to a spell maker and get a restore strength 10 points spell. it only has a very low chance of succeeding, but it also only costs 1 point, so I can cast it a lot. now I just have to survive going in the tower, if I can....

IIRC, a potion of dispel, won't work because Dispel only cancels temporary effects on your character. Since your strength is being damaged, and not drained, it is considered a permanent effect. That's why altars and potions of restore works. A potion (or spell) of dispel might work if you cast it in the second that you get afflicted, but even then I can't say with any certainty.
Armor or spells that resist magic and/or disease could work as a preventative measure. I seem to remember fighting through some undead creatures, and some of the bonewalkers have a damage strength attack that is likely the cause of your issue. Of course you could be unlucky to be catching a disease from some other critter, but I can't recall with any certainty any animal that has a damage strength effect.

Sounds like you already found the best solution. You'll train your own Restoration each time you try to recover your strength, even if the spell fails.
The effects of diseases in Morrowind linger beyond the cure.

If the curse is damaging your stat, you're gonna need to bring a Restore Strength potion. It's probably a Greater Bonewalker causing it, so try to kill them all asap.
