Trading with merchants.

Sun Oct 05, 2014 4:30 am

I was reading a topic in the Morrowind section on the official Bethesda forum and someone said something about trading with the merchants instead of just buying and selling.

How you do that?

Didn't know you could. I looked on the wiki but didn't find anything.

Do you mean instead of one transaction per item like with Oblivion and Skyrim?

Yeah, you barter in Morrowind. You give items to the merchant and take items as one transaction, which the "Total Sold" or "Total Cost" indicator dictating how much needs to be paid either way for the price.

Pretty handy, and I prefer it over Oblivion. If I had a 10,000 Septim item and a merchant with 6,000 gold, instead of sellign it for only that amount, I can give it, and then haggle for a bunch of items, but some currency until the difference is met or he's out of money, insread of just underselling an item.

That's another difference with the bartering in Morrowind, versus Oblivion. The amount of Gold is a dynamic number that can change, instead of having infinite money for each transaction. If I bought 15 Septims worth of merchandise to a guy with 500 Septims, he now has 485 Septims for the remainder of the transactions for the next 24 hours until his gold resets to the default, unless you buy or sell with him to further influence how much pocket money he has.

Thanks.

Can you pay for items using other items? As in actual trading? That's what I had in mind when I read that.
