A place to discuss and ask questions about the third part of The Elder Scrolls series and its expansions

Always manages to impress me after all these years.Hey, remember the eerie red sky in Oblivion? Y'know when you get to close to an Oblivion Gate and it gets all dark and mysterious? Yeah, well Morrowind did it first.Oh dear. The last thing almost any Morrowind player wants to see.

Damn cliffracer armies, they are like vultures. Annoying thing is I have the 'Normal' ones set to be friendly, but half the time I encounter a diseased or Blighted one... grrrr.
Nice screenshots guys!
Anywho, here are a few I took over the last few days:
Is it just me or is the sky in Morrowind just spectacular?
The reason I took this one was because of the realism of it, before I took this there was a pack of Nix-hounds relaxing by the water(annoyed I couldn't sneak closer and take that pic)... great spawn point placement if you ask me.
This last one I just had to take. I don't think I've ever encountered this place before, and I sure as hell don't remember there being lava fountains(it's actually in the vanilla game, I checked on the wiki to make sure it wasn't a mod).

Awesome, Dean
. Where's that place with the lava fountain?

So, how exactly do you take screenshots?
Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:53 am
Well, if you're on PC, you go to the Morrowind.ini file. There, you can find some line that says "ScreenshotEnable=0". CHange the "0" to "1", and in-game, use the "PrtSc" button to take them.

I've tried that, and the issue is that I can't edit any text files within my program files, unless I'm providing administrator permission, and I can't figure out how to do that.
Sat Apr 14, 2012 4:11 am
If you can move your .ini file to another folder outside program files then I believe you can edit it that way. Then all you gotta do is make the change, save it, and then move the file back where you got it from.
Sat Apr 14, 2012 2:42 pm
No, I've already tried providing administrative permission, and there's simply no option.
However, I realized that I can just convert it to a library and then I should be able to alter the .ini file.

Are you playing through Steam? Just hit F12, which is the default screenshot button.

I *think* I solved the problem, so I'll test it out tonight.

Has the screenshot thing worked?

Wow, I just saw your awesome "Ordinatographer" avatar, AddictedtoMorrowind! Great illustration! Did you do it?
Fri Apr 27, 2012 2:08 pm
The image is from , you can see the Ordinator saying "We're watching you, Scum!" and holding a camera in the bottom right corner. This Musicman247 guy cropped it out for me.
But this is offtopic.

my first attempt at this ...

Ragnarok, there's always a first time for everything.

thanks Andere. not having my first lame attempt met with sheer contempt is encouraging. the caption was an observation I made with my youngest son watching me play after restarting a new game. he thought it was funny so thought I'd share.
one thing, I don't use any mods like MGSO, etc. so the graphics quality is obviously raw. I've seen some stunning pics taken and just wondering what a "before" and "after" would look like for a side-by-side comparison of vanilla vs mods.
maybe we could do something like that, or maybe even turn it into a competition where I shoot a raw unmodded pic and someone running mods has to find the location and take a matching modded pic for comparison of the mods they use to 'nilla.
make it a competition to see who has the best graphics mods?

My brother found a very good condition copy of Morrowind @ the fleaMarket.
Uploaded with
There it be atop the Skyrim box. The booklet and map were amongs its insides. Original Morrowind.
Mon May 14, 2012 12:21 pm
StinkyJozef, so it's a box? Oh my, I envy you... I only have a standard CD / DVD case. Of course the contents are pure and original, but when I think of my original Descent package, or Empire Earth package --- they're like driving a genuine Mustang! Wouldn't you say?
Ragnarok, the idea of "Before and After" is quite intriguing. There may be a difficulty in getting people involved, though. But we do have a lot of "retro" these days, so it might be a good subject for competition = Competition of the Month. Avron the S'wit has taken care of the competitions, I may be a bit obsolete here, but if you have a heart for it, you might contact her, in order to get an extensive try between "old and new".
I mean, DirectX11, be it with Skyrim or Morrowind or with Windows XP or 7 or 8, isn't necessarily better or more authentic than Morrowind with Windows 98 and DirectX 8.1. As my second meaning, I'm a Photographer, and I truly think that the greatest pictures were taken before the Digital Age.
Go figure.

I wonder if someone could put together five screenshots from all the TES games side-by-side.

Watch in 1080 P and in fullscreen if you can. Honestly these graphics in most places are better than those of Skyrim. My character model with a weapon and full armor alone eats up a little over 100 Megabytes of Vram.

Well, for what it's worth, here's my 2 cents (or gold pieces)
Better late then never I guess.
