i know that there is no weapon degradation in skyrim but as i use my equipped weapon it seems to lose damage over time. after a while if i highlight it in my inventory itll say "+XX" damage if i equip this weapon.......but its already equipped. unequipping and re-equipping seems to fix this but not permanently. i dont have any diseases or any other active effects that would cause this. any ideas?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. If you unequip a weapon, then highlight it, you'll see +(weapon's attack), because the game is telling you how much your attack with rise when you equip it. If you already have a weapon equipped and highlight a new one, you'll see +/-(the difference between what's quipped and what's highlighted). Say if you have an Iron Sword with 9 attack equipped, and highlight a steel sword with 11, you ought to see +2.
If you highlight said iron sword, you will see -9, because the game is telling you how much attack you'll lose if you unequip it.
If you have a stack of two swords, both equipped, and highlight it, you'll see a sum of both of their attacks, and -(the attack of one of the highlighted weapons) because the game is telling you how much attack you'll lose if you unequip one.
It gets "confusing" because, say you have two 9 attack weapons equipped, if you highlight a weapon with less than 18 attack (the sum of both weapons), but with higher attack than 9, you'll still get a negative number, because the game assumes you're only equipping that one weapon.

I suspect this has something to do with how perks and skill levels modify weapons (and armor). I think for some reason you see things as the "base" level (low / no skill, no perks) and sometimes with the perked / skilled attributes.

i do have gauntlets that increase 2h damage 15% and barbarian lvl3 (+60% damage) but 23 is not 75% of 51 so i dont think that has anything to do with it. i did just notice that the game thinks a steel greatswrod with 39 damage will do 11 more damage then my orc war hammer. once i unequipped and re-equipped my hammer and the +23 went away however it said the sword does -12 to my hammer. so it seems im actually doing less damage then i should be. is anybody else having this problem or is it just me? im playing on ps3

no i dont have that perk. it seems to just be a bug. when i activated berserkers rage the damage of my hammer jumped to 103. when i came out of it it said 51(-52). i think for some reason its just not calculating damage correctly when buffs are applied/removed
