Come on Nintendo, use your head. Why doesn't it fold? Who can fit that in their pocket? I love the idea of a price drop that gives you an option to opt-out of the 3D features, but really? Screens the size of the normal 3DS?

When I heard the name I was really excited, then I saw the picture. Sigh.

Ninty needs to sack the person who designed it as it's ugly and defeats the point of a portable console. How the hell is that going to sit in the average man's pocket? Also, why doesn't it have a second stick? It's got room for one more and people kinda want it. And i'm pretty sure the 3DS has the option to turn the 3D effect off.

The 3DS is incredible, I've owned one since it released.

This idea is terrible.

And here I was hoping they'd put out a left-handed 3DS instead...

Funny. I'm not surprised that this is a real thing, I'm still waiting for the XL-Lite-XL version.

I can't believe it doesn't fold. How could they possibly think that was convenient?

And this is where Nintendo starts their major downfall of crap ideas.

Whoa, I thought this was a joke when I first saw it. I can't believe that it's an actual thing. What the heck were they thinking? You can turn off the 3D on the regular 3DS, and I can't imagine being able to hold that and play it really easily. O.o

My Nintendo fanboyism is fighting me on this one. As a guy that likes the 3DS but doesn't really care for the 3D feature, offering a more affordable version that doesn't have what I never use anyway is a great idea. The problem is of course portability, which seems to be closer to the Wii U's game pad than the original 3DS. It's a step up from the Virtual Boy, but that's not saying much. You could probably fit it into a backpack, but unless you are one of the few that wear cargo pants you don't have much of a prayer without a backpack. Though, they could be targeting a female audience by having them put it in their purses. (Or the whipped male demographic by having them put in their woman's purse.) Alternatively, it could be that the 2DS is meant to be handheld, but not necessarily portable. (Though that is a huge market they'd be missing out on.) I dunno, we'll see how it does, but seeing as I already have a 3DS, I probably will never find out for my self. (Though, if they were to add a GBA slot on the bottom of it, then that might change a couple things.)

Again Nintendo emphasise on the fact that they are run by monkeys tripping out on soupor slime.

Part of me, only 'part' of me, wishes that this is just some silly prank. The rests just wants to sit and laugh at how mindbogglingly dumb Nintendo is.

This thing looks massive. Has anybody seen it in someone's hands yet?

Found this on Tumblr:

-dammit-

If you thought the 3ds was a brick, you'll enjoy getting carpel tunnel all over again with this beauty!

EDIT: Curses, I can't post pictures.

So the invisible man's hands, then. Thanks, ZeRoc. I've not held any of those systems, so that picture doesn't help me visualize how big this thing is.

Here is the original in the CEO of Nintendo's hands.

Take that, compare it using the middle device in the above picture for reference, and there you go.

Thanks!

I think what's throwing me is the button placement. It looks like Dreamcast controller. And that's not really a good thing. Have you ever tried to use one?

I have, second most awkward controller I've ever held, the first being the N64. Overall, even though it looks clunky it's not going to be all that big.

Why does it have a ridge in the middle?

That's a good question. My first guess would have been that it would help someone grip it better, but looking again, that would kinda be a weird spot to do that.
