Daggerfall Custom Class

15 February 2011

The following post was found on the DAGGERFALL Mailing List and contains good information on creating a fast level rising and powerful custom class. The fastest rising character, (and quite possibly the most powerful) goes like this:

Custom High Elf

    Top skills:
  1. Alteration
  2. Restoration
  3. Thaumaturgy
    Major Skills:
  1. Mysticism
  2. Destruction
  3. Illusion
    Minor Skills:
  1. Long Blade
  2. Critical Strike
  3. Mercantile
  4. Running
  5. Etiquette
  6. Backstabbing

HP/Level:30

    Advantages:
  1. 3x magery
  2. Long blade expertise
  3. Bonus to hit daedra
  4. Spell absorption (General)
  5. Regenerate health in Darkness
Disadvantages:(getting it down to below middle dagger)
  1. Cannot Regenerate spells (General)
  2. Cannot Regenerate spells in Dark
  3. Cannot regerenate spells in light
  4. Critical Weakness to Paralysis
  5. Forbidden material - Silver
  6. Forbidden weapon - Axe
  7. Forbidden armor - leather

Choose books during character creation, and ebony dagger.

NOW - exit Privateer's hold. Go to Singcroft. Sell books. Go to mages guild. Join. Make lowest cost "Open spell." Wait till night. Cast "Open" and thieve both weapon stores, and general store. Wait till day. Sell books, weapons - this'll give you some gold to play with. NOW - go to mages guild. take money, and create 6 lowest cost spells for each school, with three effects. Example: "Enhance Alteration" - Add Water walking x3. Buy. Do for all six schools. These are your "practice" spells. (They cost low, can be cast multiple times before having to rest, and will most certainly raise you a point after 6 hours of rest.)

NOW - talk to guild dude. Get quest. Turn down all quests except protecting the great "so-And-So" as a bodyguard. Draw sword or Ebony dagger, keep ready. Cast one practice spell of your primary skill, till all points are used up. Loiter for 1 hour. Kill invaders. NOW - Talk to guild dude again. POOF instant spell points. Practice spells. Loiter 3 hours.

Do a combination of practicing spells, loitering up to 6 hours, and taking quests from guild dude (with protecting/guarding only). In about 30 minutes you can be a level 6+ Sorceror Type. Give it an hour and you can be 10+ and have a myriad of magical items as well.

When you get bored, and want to see how far you've advanced in the guild, SAVE, then travel all around, taking your time. If you've performed about twenty or so quests, and you've advanced in levels, you should get a hefty increase in three weeks. My character went from Apprentice to Archmage in about two hours of game time, three weeks in the world.

Repeat.

Now enchant all the items you want. You should have a full set of awesome armor, too. Bon voyage,
