Re: Warning[edit]

Mate, it's not spam. I simply don't understand how you people do it but your infoboxes on articles are awful and squished and impossible to edit. Spacing them out makes it significantly easier to work with.

Also - I don't think you can tell from the diff, but what I'm doing is lining up the = with each other, not just randomly adding spaces.

Adding the spaces does absolutely nothing but clutter up the Recent Changes. Every single infobox on the entire wiki has the "impossible to edit" spacing and it would be ridiculous to try and add them on every single article. Plus nobody has ever complained about this before. By your edit summaries, the continued adding of those spaces was beginning to look malicious to me. Although I see you weren't doing so maliciously, please don't add them anymore. •WoahBro►talk 03:41, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
TESWiki has them nice and spaced out on most articles, so does Wikipedia. I'm surprised no one has every complained about it before - is everyone just used to it being messy or what? And can't you use a bot or something if you're worried about cluttering up Recent Changes?

That might be the tradition there. It might for all I know even be a good tradition, and as such a commendable effort of yours to bring it here. Even so, it is not the tradition here, and as wikis are built on consensus, any major change should be discussed by the community as a whole. If a change is decided, it is quite probable that a bot is set to do the change all over, so no manual change of thousand-ish articles. Please take the discussion, and prepare for a long discussion with many opposing views, and possible a slow change in opinion, but if you have good reasons bring forth, also a well backed change. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:10, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Our summary templates are already spaced out - if our goal was actually to make them messy, the whole thing would be on the same line. Other wikis might use random spacing to align equal signs, but it is completely unnecessary and looks horrible. If you really find our infoboxes impossible to edit, then feel free to go to an article's talk page and I'm sure any other editor would be able to help you out. —Legoless (talk) 20:53, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Just chiming in here as the only active editor with a bot: could it be done? Yes, absolutely. I can roughly imagine the code necessary to do it already. It seems like a gigantic waste of time, though, for a style that not everyone likes. Personally, I have no strong preference either way, but a lot of people don't like having to re-align things manually whenever a longer parameter name is added, and that sort of issue. Plus, this is not Wikipedia or Wikia, but a private wiki. While space really isn't a huge issue, editing probably 80% or more of the content pages on the wiki would be a huge amount of data being added for very little gain, not to mention the bandwidth consumed, since my bot runs remotely, not locally. (We don't really have a good facility for a server-side bot at this point.) Robin Hood  (talk) 23:03, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Can I just point out something? I can't see that Wikipedia or TESWiki is using such spaced out wikitext. I have seen exactly same trolling done on Dragon Age Wiki. Your instincts were probably absolutely right, WoahBro :P *hugs* (also, this IP deserves a block...) Tib (talk) 23:19, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
I can't speak for TESWiki, since I've only ever made a handful of edits there, but yes, I have seen this done on Wikipedia moderately often. It's definitely not a universal standard there, but some people do it. Robin Hood  (talk) 00:37, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
I'm not trolling (though I see how it could look like that... sorry). I admit those summaries were stupid but my intention was to clean up the infoboxes because they're difficult to edit when everything is all squished. It can be tough to see what you're even doing and it just slows down editing a lot. Here is an example on TESWiki and on Wikipedia. For comparison look at your article for Ulfric. Do you see what I'm saying? It's not a huge difference, but it's still a pain to have to look at. I think it would be a better idea to get the brunt of it over with as early as possible, considering how much you're likely to expand in the coming years. However I understand your concerns though and they are sensible, so whatever, you do you.

Skyrim Offer[edit]

RobinHood just pointed out your recent edit concerning you situation. There's an outstanding offer from me that I'll buy any regular editor/admin of UESP any of the games and you more than qualify for this. I'd love to purchase you another copy of Skyrim if you'll let me. Contact me via e-mail at dave@uesp.net if you're interested and we'll set it up. Hope your August ends better than it started! -- Daveh (talk) 19:11, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

I ended up finding a copy for $7 at a local game store, but thank you so much Dave, and RH too! :) •WoahBro►talk 21:02, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
