Images[edit]

Why can't we have an image of Pike's Medallion? It's both a unique item and a quest reward. Items such as Chillrend have an image next to the stats and in fact an entire page dedicated to them. The Shivering weapons page which is the same type of "list" also has images next to some of the items. I don't see how including an image of the item next to the item's information can be anything other than beneficial for users. (Gadianzero 15:53, 3 August 2010 (UTC))

Certain items have full pages, and if you want to expand those items into full pages, please do so and put an image there. A better comparison is with Oblivion:Unique Items where none of the items have images. rpeh •TCE 17:18, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Alessia Caro[edit]

Hey rpeh! I figured it was about time I bothered you with a few ONPCRP-related questions. As you know, I have tried to solve the life and times of Alessia Caro and my progress can be found here. I’m quite pleased with the page so far but unfortunately, I have reached the end of the in-game road and could use some help from the CS. She is incredibly difficult to nail 100%, and I’m not even sure it is possible, but I hope you can look up a few things and hopefully come up with some answers. I’ll start with the easy questions and work my way up:

  • 1: She is supposed to do something every day between 10am and 2pm. With some hints from Corevette789, I have attempted an explanation in the bugs-section; is it correct?
  • 2: She leaves the Chapel at 7pm every day (with the exception of Turdas), but as far as I’m concerned the castle dinners always starts at 8pm. I have made several attempts to find out where she goes at 7pm, and my guess would be that some kind of fallback-package kicks in until 8pm. Which one?
  • 3: No matter what the quest page (or Hlidara Mothril) tells you, she will not travel to Chorrol during Ahdarji’s Heirloom. Unfortunately, I just found out she will start canceling the trip some time BEFORE that quest is initiated, so when is it? I suspect that she stops traveling when you have fenced 200 gold and receive an update in the Independent Thievery sub-quest, but I’m not sure.
  • 4: I remember reading somewhere that she should eat dinner with her guests between 6pm and midnight when you start the Sanguine quest. This could be true, but there seems to be something wrong with it. I told you on the IRC that I have solved how to get the Countess back to the castle and I have tried the trick on two occasions: Before and after I made the guard open the door to the dinner party. Before the door is open, Alessia will stroll around near her throne and then suddenly decide to join the dinner party, no matter what time it is. If you have already opened the door, she will follow her 6pm-midnight package. Can you see anything in the CS to back up that observation?
  • 5: Finally, the tough one. She leaves the castle at 6am on the 15th and then her messy packages sends her back and forth between Chorrol and Leyawiin (take a look at RH70’s investigation here), sometimes for more than two days, sometimes forver. RH took a shot at an explanation, but I followed her for nearly seven in-game days and she just kept going back and forth. She wasn’t stuck, she wasn’t riding a horse and she wasn’t even essential. How is it possible for her to stay in a “loop” between two packages? As far as I’m concerned, this is a one-time-only bug, but it would be interesting to know what is going on – not particularly for the NPC page but for the two quest pages, where only fuzzy and uncertain explanations can be found.

I hope you have the time for some good ol’ investigation – the NPC page will be finished if we can answer at least some of the above questions. All the best and good luck! --Krusty 20:17, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

I'll see what I can find. It seems my connection is particularly unstable again at the moment so I might have some time, given that IRC isn't an option right now. rpeh •TCE 21:31, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Hopefully you won't mind me poking my nose in this, but I just love doing CS investigation :) Here is what I've been able to discover so far:
  1. Yes, but it's not a bug it's a random package with a 50% chance of ocurring. It also seems to be scripted to last 3 hours, from 10am to 1pm not 2pm, so I'm not sure why she would continue to do it until 2pm. Also, she will skip this package during Ahdarji's Heirloom and she will also skip her dinner with Mahei and Numeen if either of them are dead.
  2. As far as I can tell, the only package that she has to fallback is aaaDefaultExploreEditorLoc3000. Meaning that she will wander near her starting location in a radius of 3000 ft (Castle Leyawiin, Private Quarters).
  3. It may be as soon as Armand promotes you, but I'm not sure. The package specifically tells her to not travel as long as Ahdarji's Heirloom is active, and the quest seems to start when you get promoted or at stage 5, when Armand sends you to see S'krivva.
  4. She only has two packages during that quest: DASanguineDinnerPackage5 and DASanguineDinnerWait. The first tells her to have dinner from 6pm to midnight, while the second one tells her to stroll around the County Hall in 1500ft during the rest of the day, so I'm guessing that the behavior is normal.
That's all I can tell you for now, it might need some more verification as I'm still a newbie with the CS ;). I'll also try to figure out what causes the loop in her traveling schedule. Hope this helps --S'drassa T2M 21:52, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for chiming in, S'drassa. I have corrected the 10am-1pm thing in my Sandbox and have decided that my description of her 7pm thing is okay. I will start writing a Samnguine section later today. --Krusty 09:49, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay, after a bit of consideration, I decided to launch Alessia's NPC page. The bug description regarding her Chorrol/Leyawiin loop still needs to be much better, but I'll have to admit I am not really knowledgable enough in the CS stuff to actually identify the problem, not even with S'drassa's examination posted here. Maybe you can help identify it? --Krusty 21:40, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to look at this, matey. The time I would usually spend on the site has been spent kicking the furniture in reaction to various ongoing idiocies. I'll try to find some time over the next couple of days. rpeh •TCE 22:57, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

FCOM current thread link[edit]

Okay, I've created a user page. Perhaps it would be a better idea to link to the ES Oblivion modding forums than the thread itself? We're currently on thread number 63. These last perhaps a week, so the link would be very quickly obsoleted.

Judge for yourself http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1108343-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ by taking the link at the top of that page to the previous one etc. You can see how quickly these move.

And hey, I'm probably stupid but I just can't seem to link a url properly on this site. What am I doing wrong?Shikishima 00:09, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm afraid I don't bother with the official forums: I consider trying to improve the content over there to be akin to trying to produce something drinkable by pouring a glass of distilled water into a vat of urine.
On the other hand, you have almost justified my point. What is the up-to-date source for FCOM material? Is it the page on UESP or the thread on the forums? Or is it somewhere else? : If you are really maintaining the page on this site, then it shouldn't be a problem to update the forum link every so often.
For help on making links, your best bet is to see this page (and to view the source here to see how I made that link!), because there are several ways of doing it. rpeh •TCE 00:18, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Image[edit]

Sorry if that wasn't the best picture of Else God-Hater - it was my first image to actual to content space. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:50, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

And sorry to dis it so quickly, but... it was a bit dark. Decent images take a lot of practice. I look back at a lot of the images I uploaded in my early days in abject horror and disgust! rpeh •TCE 01:51, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

RE: Linking to TESnexus.[edit]

Sir,
I apologise for this particular oversight and will presently employ all convenient haste in attending and effecting its rectification.
Regards,
TheEnigmaticMan 23:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. It's not a problem - it's just being prepared for the worst. rpeh •TCE 00:06, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

RE: Local map image of a strange door.[edit]

I have provided an image of the island, though I am unaware as to the specific dimensions you require. The image is below.

Fondest regards,
TheEnigmaticMan 14:53, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks... but that's not going to work because of the water colour. Besides, I don't have access to the map anyway. rpeh •TCE 16:04, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Alonzo[edit]

If you don't like Alonzo's image - feel free to say so! I have a savegame during the fight with him. I'm sure I can take a better one. --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 04:36, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

It's a great action shot, but the lighting still isn't great. If you can brighten it up a little, that would be perfect. rpeh •TCE 14:20, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Done. But his face still seems a bit far away from the main shot. --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 21:08, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I like the new one much better. It also increases the contrast between Alonzo and the background. I agree that his face seems a bit far away, but at the same time, I'd say don't over-analyze it. The important part of NPC pics (at least to me) is that they're recognizable, and I think the pic fits that description. Robin Hoodtalk 22:01, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I rather think it's quite nice, I mean really, what's wrong with it? That's all he does. Integra 19:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Nothing. It's fine now. rpeh •TCE 19:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

More Chart Troubles[edit]

I can't get the latest family members to link right despite having followed your advice on what to do if the last generation had children (I think I followed it anyway). Durn also needs linking to Vandassrel who needs linking to the most recent Pelagius.--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 23:23, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Actually I got the generations messed up. Durn needs linking to Dernaldren of Guthmarch (who needs to be moved so that he's descended from Vandassrel who needs moving to be descended from Pelagius).--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 23:32, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Well I got them moved around. Still can't figure out how to get everyone to link right though.--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 18:33, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Since rpeh seems to be away for the moment, I had a look at it. Chart can definitely be a nuisance and then some, though the alternatives are much worse. How does it look now...is that what you were looking for? (PS, there are several lines that end in the middle of nowhere that I didn't try to fix, since I wasn't sure if they were to link to future boxes or what.) Robin Hoodtalk 22:37, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Yep, that's what I wanted. Thanks!--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 22:45, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
You're going about this the wrong way. Trying to change an existing chart to fit your needs is always going to be more difficult than trying to start from scratch. When I changed the original to move Pelagius I from being Tiber's son to being his grandson, it took me far longer than it did to get both rows correct in the first place. The lesson is to plan beforehand and not tweak unless you really have to. rpeh •TCE 04:29, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

quick question[edit]

why was my edit reverted? ((diff) (hist) . . m Morrowind:Easter Eggs‎; 16:54 . . (-136) . . Rpeh (Talk | contribs) (Undo revision 594491 by 134.174.191.159 (Talk); strewth...)

Sorry... but if we listed everything that has a similar name to every other thing, that page would be megabytes in size. The fact that Dagoth Ur's name has "Ur" in it is really not notable. rpeh •TCE 17:02, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
well that whole section of the easter egg page was specifically about babylonian/assyrian/sumerian references in Morrowind, and I thought that the main antagonist's name being a major city in ancient mesopotamia was notable, but I understand if you don't think it belongs there.

Excuse Me[edit]

Hi, I'm the female protaganist In that arguement everyone's chatting about right now....And one certain thing came up....Why aren't you well-liked on UESP? Sincerely--Integra 02:49, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

I am well-liked. I cite this page to prove it. There are one or two malcontents who don't like me but believe me, they don't cause me to lose a moment's sleep. rpeh •TCE 08:41, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Sir,
If you do not count me amongst those "malcontents", please increase the number of people who dislike you to three, with all convenient haste.
Yours in antagonism,
TheEnigmaticMan Wouldst thou speak?Mine handiwork 01:42, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Given your list of outstanding contributions, such as edit-warring, moaning on talk pages, uploading copyright violations, uploading godawful screenshots and making dubious "corrections" to grammar, I am pleased to add you to the list. I'm sure Wikipedia will be deliriously happy to welcome an editor of your phenomenal talents. rpeh •TCE 06:07, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Sir,
So you dislike my screenshots. I shall assume that they are so offensive as entirely precluded your telling me so earlier. I apologise in advance for my grammar, which is so decidedly beneath thine own in quality. If only I had been taught to write by somebody so auspiciously gifted as yourself, I would never have made the mistake of shortening sentences, employing euphemisms or indeed any other edits so vulgar and nonsensical as these [1] [2] [3].

Zeek[edit]

Just checked the quest, no gravestone either if you get the dialogue (after three days) from Father Ambrogio or you don't. He should appear at the trapdoor just next to the cemetery wall shouldn't he? There may be something wrong in the scripting that sends him to the trapdoor in the lower, inaccessible, part of the Abandoned Shaft that connects with the aforementioned trapdoor. --SerCenKing Talk 09:22, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Forgot to reply... Thanks for that, SerC. I'll see if I can work out what the scripting problem is but I'll write up the schedule as it actually happens then we can add bug notes as required. rpeh •TCE 17:44, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Stupid Mistake[edit]

I was making a new page, supposed to be called User:Call999itsashark/Thingymajigs, but I called it User:Call999itsasahrk. Is there anyway to quikcly delete it? call999itsashark talkmail 15:02, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Yup. --Krusty 15:03, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
(e/c) Only admins can delete pages, but you can use the "move" tab at the top to rename your page, then add a {{speedydeletion}} template to the original page to signal an admin to delete it for you. rpeh •TCE 15:04, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Didn't know who else to ask :) call999itsashark talkmail 15:06, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Wait, this is weird. Are you sure you wanted User:Call999itsasahrk deleted? --Krusty 15:10, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I think he meant the subpage - User:Call999itsasahrk/Thingymajigs‎ rpeh •TCE 15:12, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Sewer question[edit]

Hey, I just finished off this page. I added a place summary, although I not 100% sure it was appropriate. I also slapped a needsmap tag for the exterior, but again, is it necessary? Just wanted to know your take on this one. Oh, and could we eventually add a proper map link? The one on the place summary atm doesn't seem to be working. Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 15:56, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

It's always been a tricky one. The interior is obviously this page, and it's odd to have a page purely for an exit, but then again it's an important one because it's your first glimpse of the outside world. An exterior map is a good idea though. I've fixed the map link. rpeh •TCE 17:24, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

This, this and this are perfect! I really hoped someone would come along and do those! :) A thank you is necessary! Just a quick question: do Heretic's Horn or Saints Watch classify as regions? Should they also have their own map plus one showing all "other" regions? --SerCenKing Talk 09:55, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

My pleasure - I'm in a map mood at the moment, as you might have been able to tell.
No, I don't think so. The Regions editor in the CS lets you see what the regions are, and there's nothing about those two. rpeh •TCE 10:30, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Perfect, saves the time for a few maps I suppose :) If you really feel "mappy", you may wanna give this a try ;) --SerCenKing Talk 11:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, me again. I know this is completely unrelated, but I couldn't be bothered to make a new topic ;) Could you quickly check these two pages? They only need inventory and spells to be checked on the CS before they're finished. Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 13:02, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Done :) rpeh •TCE 13:22, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Dawnstar NPC design[edit]

Hey Rpeh! Brilliant work these last few days (well, not only the last few days but you know what I mean)! I wanted to ask you a few things based on my newly launched Dawnstar NPC pages, especially the Heavy Armor Peddler. Looking through your Shadowkey pages, I noticed that you included an NPC Summary box - sometimes without any info in it, except for the location and gender of the NPC. Do you think I should do the same? Also, do you have any suggestions for a decent table design for the list of wares (and you have to point me somewhere, because I'm a copy/paste type of guy). Thanks in advance! --Krusty 14:32, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I've been trying to kill off some of the outstanding maintenance stuff. Still a hell of a lot to go though.
With the Shadowkey NPC summary, I ummed and ahhed for a while before doing a proper NPC summary, and eventually went for it because at least some of the NPCs had enough details to make it worthwhile. It also gives a little bit of structure to the page and makes it look a bit better. I don't know what details you have in DS but I'd go with a summary box unless there really is nothing worth including.
For the wares, it looks like you've got even less information than I had with SK. I can only really point you to this and the other Items pages. By that token, I think your peddler page is fine as it is. rpeh •TCE 14:48, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. For now, I will shamelessly steal your NPC Summary design from Shadowkey (might as well be consistent when it comes to the mobile games) - and keep the tables on the merchants pages. --Krusty 15:37, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that absolutely didn't work. It added my DS NPCs to the Shadowkey Category (should have seen that coming) and that is no good. I don't know if I could lure you into creating a very primitive, small NPC summary box for Dawnstar? I just need a name, gender and location - for now, at least. As you can see on Chung's page, some of them train as well but I don't think it belongs in the summary anyway, since the services are available 24/7. If the answer is yes, then something light blue would be really appreciated - for inspiration, a color like this would be really nice, maybe a bit brighter. Hope you can find the time between all those maps! All the best! --Krusty 15:34, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Try the SK summary again now. If it's okay, we can rename it to "Mobile NPCs Summary", perhaps... although that makes me think of mobile NPCs rather than mobile games. rpeh •TCE 17:05, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
It seems to be okay now (I even dared to make a Category) and it helped the layout a lot. As for the name, maybe something along the lines of "ESTravels NPCs Summary?" :) --Krusty 18:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't know the first thing about them, but the first name that popped into my mind as I read this was "MG NPCs Summary" (MG = Mobile Games). Just a thought. I'll go back to my little corner now and leave it to you guys. Robin Hoodtalk 21:07, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
