Metatemplate Bug[edit]

If you look at this version of the BSForums template, you'll see that I accidentally left a #preview:topic in. When I called it with the forum= parameter, however, the if={{{topic|}}} conditions were seen as being met, so it linked to the topic and ignored the forum. So far as I know, #preview should never affect a live template, only a preview, so I thought I'd mention it. Is this maybe just because the template was executing in the context of a subpage of that template? Robin Hoodtalk 21:32, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello.[edit]

I just read an article stating you can take screenshots to non-PC users, well....Does this refer to NPC's as well? Shianni 22:38, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

I detect some acronym confusion here.

If you are playing the game on something other than a PC (personal computer) meaning a console, then yes it is possible to get screen shots, although not easy. Here, for example, is how to take screen shots on the Xbox 360 as explained at: http://www.ehow.com/how_5015867_screenshots-xbox.html

Now, one can readily see, an NPC (non-player character) can be included in the screen shot using either a PC (personal computer) or a console. Kalevala 03:00, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Your attention, please?[edit]

Hey Nephele! So good to see your name back on the Recent Changes, so I thought I'd take advantage right away - and point your attention towards this discussion, which is basically a continuation of another discussion. Just wanted to hear your opinion on that small issue. Thanks in advance! --Krusty 22:47, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey Neph! Another of my custom “please-check-this-convo”-messages; we have a problem with a map in Vitharn, and maybe you can provide your take on the mystery? The conversation and all my ramblings can be found here. Thanks! --Krusty 05:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps a locking is in order?[edit]

Per this edit, shouldn't we just lock the pages so that they'll be forced to go to the purge request page to leave their message? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:30, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Well I just moved it over and did the purge request. Semi-protect the whole page? Just an idea --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 19:38, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
(e/c) I'm reluctant to place edit limits on user talk pages -- talk pages are supposed to open for discussions, and even for vandals, talk page limits are only done in extreme cases. Hopefully, Kiz's response will help discourage other anons from posting the info on the talk page. Perhaps just see how things evolve over the month or so? --NepheleTalk 19:40, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I understand your reluctance, however, I don't see this problem being resolved without these pages being locked. Going through the history of that page, and you'll see people leaving comments all over the page despite the banner clearly telling them to post it at the bottom of the page at the time. I didn't blame them, they weren't expected to understand the way the wiki works and you can't really blame them for skimming a giant red banner telling them what to do when they're just trying to enjoy the wiki. However, this just proves that people can have trouble following the simplest of instructions. This means that this problem is likely to continue to reset unless we lock these pages. However, I'll take your advice. We'll see how it works within the next month. If it's still a common problem, I'll bug you (Or some other admin) about it again. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:51, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Ahh, well i removed my response when i moved the comments over, i'll re-add them though as a further warning. If its minimal over a month, it's not a massive job for someone to move the post over --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 19:53, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Request MetaTemplate and UespCustomCode extensions[edit]

Good day. I make the Russian version UESPWiki. Adapted templates do not work without the MetaTemplate, also does not displayed correctly the content of some articles, which uses expressions and magic words. Also, I have installed the expansion UepCustomCode (link in talk page), but not sure that this latest version. Can I get these extensions? Ruesp 13:50, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Marriage[edit]

Hey, Nephele. Sorry to bother you, but could you delete this for me please? I don't know how I did it, but I accidently created it as a category, rather than an article. Thanks. Jayden Matthews 15:11, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

You could of just marked it with the Speed template or the Prod template. Admins will get around to deleting pages with these templates on them eventually. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:51, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
rpeh beat me to it by a minute -- but in any case, marking it for deletion as mentioned by AKB is a good idea if it comes up again. --NepheleTalk 16:28, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Wow really AGAIN?[edit]

You delete everything you dont like, dont you?--98.87.71.87 01:15, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Someone is taking moderater duty a little to heavily....--98.87.71.87 01:18, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm fairly new as a contributor to the community here, so I don't know a lot about what kinds of changes Nephele in particular makes, but what I have seen so far evidences a great deal of knowledge from a lot of experience, a lot of respect among those who appear to be long-standing members of the community, and--most admirably--a general openness to discussion. The anonymous snipes above, in contrast, are totally understandable reactions in a case where perhaps someone has deleted or modified something we have done, but seem to aspire (feebly, I think) to destructive ends. A massively collaborative project requires--um--massive collaboration. If we disagree with someone, why not attempt a discussion or solicit an explanation before putting someone down? It can be really tough for even the most emotionally mature and rational person in the world to try to contribute something and then have it rejected or criticized, and I think all of us react to it less than ideally at times, but getting involved in something like this offers a chance to develop and grow as a collaborator, as well as a place to exercise an endless loop of feeling hurt and uselessly venting anger. Help[edit]

Well, i had a stab at uploading an image over another one. Well, i tried first time. I uploaded the wrong image. Had another go, and it turned out my first version was correct. Is there a way to undo this, or is it just re-re-upload it?--Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 17:05, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

I think both uploads you did were correct -- you're probably just getting confused by the fact that you have to refresh the image page to see that you've uploaded the image, as mentioned by Alfwyn in the other thread. --NepheleTalk 17:08, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
It kinda was that after the first one, the first one i uploaded the image i downloaded to copy. Other than that i think i was just being a clot :/ --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 17:12, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

A quick check?[edit]

Hey Neph! Back in the day, you added this to the Pale Lady article. I just went through it in-game and couldn’t trigger the line. Can you take a look in the CS and check the conditions for the Mina-dialogue? Thanks in advance! --Krusty 19:44, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

It's a response to 'The Pale Lady' dialog topic, which is related to the Lost Histories quest. To get that response, it looks like the jailor's disposition towards you has to be at least 50. But either the day-time Skingrad Jailor or night-time Skingrad Jailor should have the line. Hopefully that's enough info to trigger it. --NepheleTalk 20:07, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Got it - and heard it. Thanks for the help! --Krusty 20:49, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

False Accusation[edit]

I was recently looking through the people in the Bethesda team, and saw a mistake. The guy's name was Brian, and it said Brain. I fixed this, which I thought was the right thing to do. I admit I am new to the editing system, but I have been referring to this site as a whole for years. What I did was not "Vandalism", I was merely fixing a mistake. — Unsigned comment by 195.93.21.42 (talk) at 14:02 on 28 October 2011

Basically, I'm guessing that you read a warning message intended for someone else, because of an ongoing glitch we're experiencing. The IP address that you're currently logged in as has never been given any warnings. And assuming that you're the person responsible for this edit, your previous IP address (212.219.250.33) was not given any warnings, and the edit you made is still in place. Therefore, I have to assume that the vandalism warning you saw was one like this one -- which contains a big red box saying that the warning message was not directed at you. I'm sorry for this misunderstanding. --NepheleTalk 22:59, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Artifact Summary[edit]

I undid your recent edit to {{Artifact Summary}} because it was messing up the headers on pages such as Morrowind:Weapon Artifacts. I couldn't think of a fix, and it seems like a recurring problem. elliot (talk) 19:37, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks (belatedly) for the heads up. Since I have a (possibly irrational) obsession with extra white space at the top of articles, I'll probably end up trying to tweak the template again at some point, but obviously we need a solution that doesn't mess up other articles. Hopefully this will help me remind to check the Artifact summary articles next time! --NepheleTalk 17:38, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi and thanks... :)[edit]

I've seen this website before and your super coherent logic is awesome. (Those that can't do, appreciate) And just as I write this I see the pink note above :( "This page is intended to let other users leave a message for Nephele about wiki business." I'll do better Ahriman 17:13, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the thanks ;) There can be a bit of learning curve with getting used to wiki habits/customs, but don't be too intimidated by it all -- we know it's impossible to pick everything up immediately. Just use common sense and you'll probably learn the rest as you go. --NepheleTalk 17:30, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
