The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
Jump to: navigation, search

Welcome to the wiki! It's great to finally have a contributor who has played some of the mobile games (and has also played so many of the other Elder Scrolls games). I was wondering whether you have any sense of how much information is likely to eventually be posted about Shadowkey, and whether you might have any feedback on how to organize the information.

The Shadowkey:Potions page that you created may look like it's in the "Shadowkey" namespace, but it isn't, because that namespace would need to be officially created. This leads to odd things, such as the talk page being at Talk:Shadowkey:Potions instead of "Shadowkey Talk:Potions". But it's not clear to me whether there is enough data in a game such as Shadowkey to justify creating a separate namespace for it (and creating a namespace for Shadowkey would then mean that a namespace would be needed for each of the mobile games). Creating an excessive number of namespaces just makes the namespace system more and more unwieldy (and there's been some discussion that we already have too many).

Right now, the stub introduction page for Shadowkey is at General:Shadowkey, which probably is difficult to find since most wiki visitors might expect it to be at Shadowkey, just like all the other games. But without any contributors who had played the game, and no sense of what would be needed, it's been hard to know what else to do. Do you have any opinions on what would make sense long-term? --Nephele 18:37, 16 January 2007 (EST)

Ok, first things first, I have never actually played shadowkey ;o) I came here looking for information, (indeed looking for an answer to a question posted on the official forums,) didn't find that answer here and decided when I did find it elsewhere that it probably should be at least started in the hope someone would correct what’s wrong.
I was pretty sure there was no Shadowkey namespace, but I wanted to follow the correct site format, (Personal opinion, I don’t like the separate namespaces, but if that’s the setup I am happy to work within it.) I intend to add, must as with all the other games, any information I find that’s not here.
As for the scope of the game, it's bigger than Battlespire, probably bigger than Redguard too. I hope to at least add lists of all the items, maybe NPCs and Guild info too. (I would love to add the beastary, but alas I can’t find one anywhere else, hopefully someone else will if people see the gap.)
Final note, I have never ever contributed to any wiki before this, I use a mixture of English spellings and what can only be referred to as utter garbage, and my grasp of punctuation is diabolical. But I do promise that I try. Jadrax 19:24, 16 January 2007 (EST)
Warm welcome to UESP from me too! --FMan | Talk (contribs) 08:20, 19 January 2007 (EST)
I realized that this probably is a topic that needs to be brought up to the community as a whole, so I've started a topic on the Community Portal. I'd welcome your opinion there, if you've had any new thoughts, that is :) --Nephele 23:48, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Carrot of Seeing[edit]

I'm not sure what you mean by the Carrots of Seeing having "a longer Duration Night-eye effect." Every ingredient with a Night-Eye effect creates the exact same Night-Eye potion: the magnitude and duration of the effect are not in any way influenced by the specific ingredient used to make the potion. I know there are values listed for each ingredient's effects in the construction set, but I have been unable to find any way in which they influence how the ingredient is used in game; if they don't affect game play I don't believe the parameters should be documented on the wiki. You may also want to look over the discussion Lurlock and I had about Refined Frost Salts (Oblivion_Talk:Ingredients#Refined Frost Salts). I can't say I've actually tested Carrots of Seeing (I did all my alchemy tests back when I only had the Xbox version of the game, and therefore couldn't acquire Carrots of Seeing to test them), but I have tested other cases such as Refined Frost Salts. Of course, I could test them now if you think it needs to be done. --Nephele 14:34, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Shadowkey[edit]

I took the liberty of doing some of the grunt work: moving the Shadowkey pages into their new namespace, getting all the links pointing to the new namespace. I also set up some links on Shadowkey:Shadowkey to the rest of the pages. I realize it's still a work in progress, but if any readers do happen to pull up the Shadowkey page they'll at least know that there is some info available, and be able to follow links to all of the existing pages.

Feel free to re-arrange anything I might have messed up :) --Nephele 02:24, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Cool! I will be doing some more work on shadowkey soon, I just have had a busrt of other commitments recently. (You know, work actually wanting me to work here, that kind of thing ;o) Jadrax 04:47, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Battlespire[edit]

I came across your user page and I see that you cannot get Battlespire working and I just wanted to mention that it works in DosBox now quite well (at least upon my specs which are 3.1GHZ and 1GMB RAM ... Which is what has the performance pitfalls for DosBox). Now, the current release version doesn't play that well but a CVS one made by Ykhwong, install it and load up Battlespire through it and it should run fine. (Remember to load the CD through the automount before you load the game, otherwise it might crash on talking to NPC's.) And if it gets working, I wouldn't mind playing MP with you over DosBox, I'm in the IRC channel if you ever want to talk about it! -- Magnus

oooh, might just try that tomorrow! Ta for the tip mate! Jadrax 19:02, 24 February 2007 (EST)
As it is tomorrow now I tried it. Sadly I end up getting an error code "0 not found in c:\" when I try to run it, 9Just after it tells me I don't have enough memory or diskspace... ;o) Can I buy a vowel?Jadrax 21:01, 24 February 2007 (EST)
Battlespire has this neat little installation addon 'thingy' you can use that will let you install it without using the installer. It's called a 'forced install' (Sounds nasty, eh?). To quote the 'INSTALL.TXT' on your Battlespire disc..
  Forced Install Readme
  ---------------------
This file is for when you can not get the game to install using the
installer. If you have tried using the installer and it fails to
install the game for some reason, you can still install the game
  forcefully by following this procedure:
  1) Run the installer with the /f option. You will need to specify
the drive letter you want to install the game onto. For example
a typical forced install command would look something like:
  INSTALL /F C
  2) Run SETSOUND.EXE inside C:\BATSPIRE\MSS and set up your sound card,
where 'C:' is the drive letter you installed the game onto.
Note: When using forced install to install the game, it will not check
to make sure you have enough availble space for it. Make sure you do
have at least 200 MB of free space on your hard drive before installing
  the game."
Hopefully this will work fine and get it up and running! Excuse my horrible formatting. :|
Ta, I will give it a try! Jadrax 11:48, 25 February 2007 (EST)
AHAH! I mounted c: as c\batspire which it wont run from! Got further this time, but it crashed - will try again later Jadrax 12:16, 25 February 2007 (EST)
Try
  mount c c:\
  c:
  chdir batspire
[Drives > Automount whatever drive you have the battlespire cd in]
  spire [enter]
  Load and enjoy?
Hope this works out! --Magnus 12:55, 25 February 2007 (EST)
Woohoo! Its working! (I think anyway) Jadrax 13:24, 25 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks[edit]

I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate how difficult your decision to post your request about Aristeo must have been, and I have great respect for your obvious integrity and commitment to improving UESP. It is unfortunate that Aristeo chose to turn his response into a personal attack upon you simply because you felt it was necessary to speak up. You should not have been forced to deal with that, but since it took me a while to prepare my statement, in the meantime you were obviously Aristeo's main target. Probably we, as admins of the site, should have taken action before this; it shouldn't have become necessary for you to stick your neck out in order to force a change. On the other hand, it really helped to put things in perspective, realizing that the problems were obvious even to someone who hasn't gone through the previous rounds of this melodrama. And also it helped to hear from someone who really is unbiased in these events, unfortunately almost all the admins have been personally involved at one point or another in this saga.

So, again, thanks for being brave enough to speak up. --Nephele 17:08, 25 February 2007 (EST)

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

Thanks in general for everything you've been doing around here... adding a whole new namespace, patrolling recent edits, providing opinions and feedback on all types of questions, giving cookies out to other editors, just to name the first few that come to mind :) --Nephele 17:08, 25 February 2007 (EST)

Now your making me blush ;o) Jadrax 17:12, 25 February 2007 (EST)

Scuppered[edit]

So, it's slang to me...is there a better word to replace it with, skipper?

Your userpage says you played Daggerfall...can you help me with a certain Daggerfall page that's worst than Morrowind:Tips? Somercy 10:42, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Was just looking at it after following your link actually. A lot of the Daggerfall pages pre-date the wiki, so there all in need of some love. anything specific you want me to contribute? Jadrax 10:45, 27 February 2007 (EST)
Any factual knowledge. I can grammar some, but have no experience with the game. You're a dear, you know that? Somercy 10:47, 27 February 2007 (EST)
Buoyed up with Magnus' Information on how to get Battlespire up and running, I'm trying to get hold of a copy of Daggerfall (as mine is long lots,) when I do I might be able to grab some screenshots and check out the locations. Unfortunately Daggerfall had a land mass bigger than Britain, and I last played it many years ago so I'm a bit hazy on one or two things. (In fact I'm not sure I ever encountered a witch coven tbh.) Jadrax 10:59, 27 February 2007 (EST)
You're better than me, friend. I'm failing at weeding out the first person. She's got the locations listed (I dunno why, but it seems like a girl's writing), but the formatting of such and the first person, and...ech. If nothing else, come lend moral support! Somercy 11:02, 27 February 2007 (EST)
Created list of things to find out on Talk page, feel free to add to it, but I have to have a nap now. ;o) Jadrax 11:06, 27 February 2007 (EST)

(Lost count of colons) Hmkay...you rock, love! Somercy 11:09, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Patroller Followup[edit]

OK, I won't pretend that your spelling and grammar are always perfect ;) (Nobody's perfect!) But you are pretty good at fact checking and answering questions, which are also important for patrollers. And in particular, we're somewhat lacking when it comes to patrollers who can double-check edits made to older games, since most of us haven't played those games (e.g., Daggerfall, Battlespire, Redguard). So I think you could make some valuable contributions there. And if you'd prefer to not patrol edits for spelling and grammar, you could just skip anything where those are questionable. But if you're happy just clicking on the "hide patrolled edits" button and seeing what needs checking without being able to mark things off yourself, that works too! Whatever you're most comfortable with :) --Nephele 20:52, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Lol, I will think about it over the week then. And thanks again for the vote of confidence! ;o)

Daggerfell[edit]

I love you, you're a god! Let's put it on the project page, and start at it! Somercy 12:50, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

Hey, I've noticed you on the Daggerfall Redesign Project page, but it has been inactive for a while. Currently I am working on it, and I've messaged others (included Somercy) about helping out also. I've only gotten one reply, but I hope you will visit.
On a completely different subject, Office Writer is a program just like Microsoft Word, but free and works on linux. Whenever you type into boxes such as edit boxes, it spellchecks. --Timmeh 19:59, 29 November 2007 (EST)

Thanx[edit]

Thank you for the cookie (a month later!). I guess I never saved the edit, but I swear I remember thanking you. I'm so sorry. --GuildKnight (Talk) contribs 20:55, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

LOL! No problem Jadrax 10:10, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

Anti-SI[edit]

Welcome to the Anti-SI club! I knew there might be a few other editors out there who would like to have a "No Shivering Isles" user tag. And it's not too hard to avoid spoilers if you want to... basically just don't look at any pages in the Shivering namespace, or at any articles about Daedric princes (two in particular, but if you don't know which two yet, then I won't spoil that info for you). But I realize that avoiding the site completely is the best way to be sure to not accidentally come across information. If so, hurry up and play the game so you can come back :) --NepheleTalk 12:40, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

LOL - I wish I had time to play it, both Life and work are both mental at the moment!!! Jadrax 05:06, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Rats and Daggerfall[edit]

DF-creature-Rat.gif

A pixelized rat, for you with love.
Hey, I've heard you know about Daggerfall. If at all possible, why not try helping me with the Daggerfall Redesign Project. I'm often in the IRC room, if you need me.

Question on Areldil's AI[edit]

When you said that his package is set to offer services but he doesn't, what did you mean? Is it because he has no scripted services to offer? I need to patrol that article, but I'm a little confused as to what it means. Vesna 00:28, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Concerning edit war.[edit]

TheEnigmaticMan's demands are simple. The map remains. If krusty takes a passing interest in undoing TheEnigmaticMan's hard work, then TheEnigmaticMan cannot be blamed for defending Himself.

Tiny point[edit]

"Response" is spelled with two "s"s and no "c". Sorry - but the third time I saw it, I had to say something! rpeh •TCE 02:26, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Dwemer Skyline Redguard Retail Extraction[edit]

Hi, It appears you were able to retail extract from the game TES: Adventures Redguard, of which I have been attempting to do for some time now. I know this from the image you uploaded of the skyline texture from the orrery in redguard. Could you share your techniques with me on how you acomplished this? Thank you I am avalable at

ptowery789@aol.com xfire: ptowery steam: ptowery or reply on your or my talk page.

Thank you once again.
