IRC proposed discussion[edit]

If you haven't already, here's a discussion brought up not too long ago. Just thought I'd let you know. Your input would be appreciated as well. Thanks. -helenaanne  talk ♥ 01:33, 9 May 2013 (GMT)

Aspect ratio for group armor shots[edit]

I noticed you added the CleanImage tag to a bunch of old Morrowind images (e.g. File:MW-item-Domina Armor Female.jpg) because they weren't in 1:1 aspect ratio. I think in these cases, the 1:1 restriction should maybe be relaxed a bit. Cramming the front/back/side views all together in a square format doesn't really make sense. Maybe 4:3 would be appropriate for these, as they are all fairly close to that already. But forcing them into a square to fit some arbitrary standard doesn't seem like it should really apply in this case. It seems like a clear case of following the letter of the law rather than the intent, which was to avoid portrait-oriented images that result in giant thumbnails. These ones look basically fine as is, so I'm not sure they need to be changed at all, though cropping to 4:3 might be reasonable without too much damage. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 11:00, 25 May 2013 (GMT)

I'm not saying they must be changed; I'd just like to see if we can do better. We don't do the multi-view shots for armors in other games, and the page might look better for it. We have a lot of talented people taking images right now, so I figured it was worth a shot. eshetalk 12:09, 25 May 2013 (GMT)

Brad Grusnick voices Gunmar[edit]

It says on Skyrim's IMDb page that he does. Can this be added to the page? Dragon Guard (talk) 19:20, 19 June 2013 (GMT)

Dragon Guard, please see my response on Krusty's talk page :) Jeancey (talk) 19:22, 19 June 2013 (GMT)

My Skyrim Voice Actor Sandbox error[edit]

Under some categories it says this:

What is up with that? Dragon Guard (talk) 17:46, 20 June 2013 (GMT)

That's the Mod Header template; it doesn't usually display correctly when you use it in the User namespace, but it should be fine in the Skyrim namespace. Don't worry, it's totally normal! eshetalk 17:53, 20 June 2013 (GMT)
Okay then. Dragon Guard (talk) 17:59, 20 June 2013 (GMT)

Main Characters Section In My Sandbox[edit]

I will be out most of the day so meanwhile, could you put the main characters section into a table like the rest of them are? — Unsigned comment by Dragon Guard (talkcontribs) at 01:38 on 21 June 2013

I would rather hold off, to be honest. I have a feeling the whole page may need to be gutted in the near future, so it doesn't seem worth it to mess with the layout just yet :). eshetalk 14:15, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

In the future does putting a Daedra Prince category in improve the page? Dragon Guard (talk) 15:26, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Possibly, if we have official sources for anyone who voices them. eshetalk 17:45, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Jeff Baker voices Neloth[edit]

Here's how: Listen to Neloth saying Are we done? I thought so.' and when Adril Arano greets the Player at Raven Rock when he says So I'll assume this is your first visit to Raven arock It sounds exactly the same. Dragon Guard (talk) 17:34, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Again, if it doesn't come from an official source, it can't go on the page, so it doesn't really matter. Sorry! eshetalk 17:45, 21 June 2013 (GMT)
Dwight Schultz hasn't been listed on IMDb yet, so he probably didn't voice him. Dragon Guard (talk) 18:22, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Sandbox Sheogorath Link Error[edit]

Why is it red? Dragon Guard (talk) 18:35, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Looks like it's just a little formatting error. You have Lore:Sheogorath:Sheogorath, and it should be Sheogorath (or just Lore:Sheogorath, if you wanna be lazy!). eshetalk 18:59, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Knight Paladin Gelebor's Voice Is So Familiar[edit]

His voice is familiar, yet I just can't place it. Any idea why it is familiar? Dragon Guard (talk) 20:06, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

No, and I'm not personally very interested in the Voice Actors page, as long as we know it's accurate information. If you want to get people's theories on this, try the article's talk page or the forums. eshetalk 20:09, 21 June 2013 (GMT)

Skyrim races opinion.[edit]

Hi there. I'm looking at a few of the "Gameplay" sections of the Skyrim races and it seems many of them are not entirely accurate in the way they are worded. For example - from Skyrim:Bosmer:

The nimble Bosmer are strongly suited for thief characters and archers. Their talent for alchemy allows them to make poisons to help their archery even more and to create potions that could help their thievery.
In combat, Bosmer are heavily focused on archery, in which they are generally understood to be the single best amongst the Tamriel races. They start out with a nice bonus in Archery and are well-suited to use it. They are good in sneaking, so they can often get a sneak attack bonus.

Lore/in-game descriptions aside - we all know that (most of the time) there isn't really a specific race that is inherently better suited to one type of play-style than another. Bosmer aren't inherently "better" thiefs or archers - they just start the game with a small skill bonus. A bonus that (in the greater scheme of things) doesn't make a huge difference. A Dunmer warrior can be just as effective as an Orc one. In the same way, "Argonians make good thieves" is true - but it also applies to any other race. Abilities like Highborn are different as they are significant and not available to other races - so it makes sense on the Altmer page to mention that.

I'm suggesting that a few of these be tweaked with a focus on how their starting bonuses can effect your playstyle - and remove the parts that suggest they make good <insert class> - such as: "Dunmer an excellent choice for either an assassin, nightblade or spellsword".

What do you think? --Jimeee (talk) 14:45, 24 June 2013 (GMT)

Sandbox 5 - Traps[edit]

Hey Eshe! I happened across your sandbox and have a couple of things to mention; since you have a "paws-off" policy, I'm mentioning them here:

 • Under Lever, there's a missing space after "Found:".
 • Under Bear Trap, I can confirm that you can pick up and move the traps. Very useful in theory, but they do very little damage, not making them very practical.
 • Under Falling Boulders, there's a random "D" at the end of a sentence. Also, it would be worth mentioning that these traps are often positioned at the tops of hills, and as the rocks can still do significant damage by rolling into you, they can be quite lethal.
 • Under Spinning Blades, it would be worth mentioning that the trap does that much damage per slice, and it spins pretty quickly, so anyone caught in its path will be sliced and diced before they know it. It might also be worth mentioning that few enemies actively avoid it (unlike many other traps), making it especially lethal.
 • Under Spellcaster Trap, I have seen them dislodge their own soul gems before, but it's very, very rare. Personally, I would not recommend simply running up and grabbing it, since some traps are extremely lethal, even at high levels (especially the one that's depicted). A better option would be casting a fireball or possibly using Become Ethereal to get close enough to disarm it.

Nowadays it's so rare that I have anything to contribute, so I hope this helps! • JAT 08:51, 16 July 2013 (GMT)

Also, it'd be good if you could mention somewhere that traps that inflict diseases ignore disease resistance, so vampire, werewolf, and necklace of disease immunity players will still be affected by them. --Morrolan (talk) 00:56, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
I came across something while in-game and remembered you were working on this, so I decided to drop by and leave you a message :)
 • Under Falmer Pod, I just had a chaurus hunter fly out of one. I'm not sure if regular chaurus can pop out of these too or what, but I just thought I'd bring that to your attention :) *WoahBro►talk 21:50, 9 August 2013 (GMT)

Ralis Sedarys Star Wars Easter Egg[edit]

At the end of the quest Unearthed, after defeating Ahzidal, Ralis will say: "What have I done?" in a little depressed tone of voice. Is this a reference to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith when after Anakin Skywalker defeats Mace Windu, he says the same line in a very similiar tone. Should this easter egg be added to Ralis Sedarys's page? Dragon Guard (talk) 19:27, 16 July 2013 (GMT)

An even more famous use of the quote is Sir Alec Guinness as Colonel Nicholson in "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957). This is an all to common phrase to be called an Easter Egg. —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:43, 16 July 2013 (GMT)
Regardless, Easter egg proposals go on the talk page for Easter eggs. They don't belong on regular namespace articles. — ABCface 19:45, 16 July 2013 (GMT)
I am sorry. I get all together too easily carried away not to join in when somebody starts. I will try to hold myself back next time. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:28, 16 July 2013 (GMT)
No need to apologize, just making sure DG knew of the correct place for this sort of discussion. — ABCface 20:33, 16 July 2013 (GMT)
Ok, move the discussion to Ralis Sedarys's talk page. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:34, 18 July 2013 (GMT)
As ABCface said above, the correct place to discuss this as an egg would be the Dragonborn Easter Eggs talk page, not Ralis Sedarys' talk page. --Xyzzy Talk 23:37, 18 July 2013 (GMT)
I didn't say I was going to discuss this as an egg anymore, I merely asked if this whole discussion could be moved to Ralis Sedarys's talk page, just like how eshe once moved a discussion about voice actors from Krusty's talk page to the Skyrim voice actor talk page. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:21, 21 July 2013 (GMT)

() If it isn't going to be further discussed, moving it to Ralis Sedarys' page would be unnecessary then. If it is however, going to be discussed, then regardless it would be moved to the Dragonborn talk:Easter Eggs page not the NPC page, (as both ABCface and Xyzzy have repeated above), as that information is meant to be noted as an Easter Egg if an agreement has been reached upon that suggestion. -helenaanne  talk ♥ 19:29, 21 July 2013 (GMT)

Image Requests[edit]

Hiya Eshe! I hope you're doing well, we've missed you around the wiki (and IRC) lately! Anyway, you have a number of requests for your SR:Traps sandbox on the Image Requests page which have been fulfilled while you've been away. I just wanted to give you a notification that these requests will be removed from that page in one week if you do not return within that time. If they are removed from there, I will simply copy/paste the information from that page into this section so that it will be easily accessible to you if/when you do return. Hope everything's going well for ya. :) — ABCface 21:04, 13 August 2013 (GMT)

Okay, here's your info in a showhide below for when you return. Hope it is soon, we miss you! — ABCface 06:42, 21 August 2013 (GMT)
Image Requests

Article: Skyrim:Traps (Sandbox)

I'll need 4:3 images of the following:

eshetalk 17:03, 28 June 2013 (GMT)

Thanks, ABC! And thanks everyone above for your suggestions on the Traps pages, too :). Work has been absolutely insane the last few weeks, and every time it slows down and I think I can come back, something happens to ruin it (my minion got himself fired so now I'm scrambling to hit deadlines, and now I've just found out I will definitely be missing those deadlines because I'm being sent to the front lines all by mahself for another huge project). It's good to be busy, I guess, but geez I miss having free time :P! Anyway, hopefully we'll get another person in here to help me soon so I can get back here in the next couple weeks :). eshetalk 13:30, 23 August 2013 (GMT)
So glad to hear you're alive and well! Good luck with your work projects! We miss ya! :) — ABCface 18:03, 23 August 2013 (GMT)
