Spam Warnings[edit]

Hey, thanks for taking care of those spammers, but just so you know, site policy is to ban spammers on the first offense (since they're almost invariably bots on open proxies), so there's no need to post a warning on their talk page. Generally myself or another admin will spot the spam reversion (assuming we miss the spam itself) and take care of the blocking and notice-posting, but if we miss it, you can always report it on the Vandalism noticeboard. --TheRealLurlock Talk 18:49, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

Heh, whoops. Thanks for the heads-up! --Eshe 19:01, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

Work Together[edit]

Eshe, I see that you really love to tweak my pronunciations lol. So how bout it? Let us both, work together on this project? Please respond with a way on how we would work on it, or how it would be a good idea.

--[[user:Playjex|Playjex]
Hehe. Probably the best way to think of it is to remember that I'm basically a hopeless grammar nerd. I don't know the "official" format for pronunciation keys, but I've been through my fair share of dictionaries, so I do have some familiarity with the system and I just try to make everything match what I think I know. But sure, we could work together if you like! I'm not entirely sure how to go about it...I guess we could divide them up by city or something. How have you been doing them? --Eshe 21:11, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
So far, I have just been going straight down the Anvil list of NPC's so if you get started on Bravil, it would sooooooo much help. Then, eventually when we get up to the Imperial City, we can split it up somehow. I'm so excited. Thanks. --Playjex 1 July 07' (EDT)
Sounds good to me! I'll get started on that soon. I'm trying to take a break from hardcore wiki-ing for a while in order to actually play the game! --Eshe 21:30, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
Regarding the Pronunciation Project and the IPA - I'm available on MSN at speakswithnosound(at)hotmail(dot)com most of the time, particularly if you have any questions. Just mention who you are if you do message me. ^_^ --Kementari 20:00, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Thanks Kementari. I'll keep that in my thoughts, for there is chaotic acts among my "user talk". -- Playjex

Flagging[edit]

Hey, saw you adding all those flags for the OPRP. Just a reminder - it makes things easier for those of us who check the Recent Changes page if you mark them as minor edits, so we can hide them and not miss the other edits that get made. If you're going to continue doing these, it would really help out if you did that. Thanks. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:11, 3 July 2007 (EDT)

Gah, sorry about that! Don't know what I was thinking (obviously I wasn't). I just changed my preferences to mark all my edits as minor by default, so I won't forget anymore. --Eshe 23:17, 3 July 2007 (EDT)

You Have Won The Chance To...[edit]

Be a patroller! Do you want me to nominate you? You obviously care about the wiki and know what you're doing. Plus, purely from self interest, it would mean that the 7,347,225 minor changes per day get automatically marked as patrolled on the Recent Changes page :-) Seriously, you can obviously speak and spoll Inglish reet good, know your stuff and would generally be a positive asset. You'd also be the first person to be nominated by somebody other than themselves. Whaddya say? --RpehTalk 15:49, 4 July 2007 (EDT)

Hey, Eshe, even though I'm not a recent changes patroller, I would nominate you also. You are phenominal with all of that stuff. If I were you, I'd definatley take the offer. Good luck Eshe. --Playjex
Playjex, old buddy, with a phenomenal spell-checker, I'd definitely nominate you too. ;-) --RpehTalk 16:13, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
w0w!!~!#! i'M nomninaked to be a "rechent khanges mod". woooohooo. I gUesSS I do haAVe a great spellings and grammaristic skiillz.lol. But seriously, before Eshe can be a recent changes mod, she should first be a "mentor" --Playjex
Wow, I don't even know what to say! I've definitely been thinking about it, but I didn't want to go and nominate myself right away since I haven't been here that long and I wanted to earn it...but if you think I'm ready, I would love to! Thanks :) --Eshe 22:41, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
Hey Eshe............. YOU'RE READY! --Playjex 14:45, 5 July 2007 (EDT)
So do you accept this noble offering? You deserve it. --Playjex 06:21, 9 July 2007 (EDT)
Why thank you. I did, actually :). There's voting going on right now. --Eshe 13:05, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

Sorry about my editing habits..[edit]

It's just that when I am editing, first I see one problem with a page, then I quickly fix it. But then I notice something else, and it needs to changed. So on and so forth. It can be kind of hard not to since the edit button usually only covers part of the page. :I apologize about the Banus Alor page- I use the 360 version and therefore dont know anything about the construction set, only character information present in gameplay- which none of that was.(Please dont revert my edits, though, I improved lots of little things!)Oblivion alchemyskillz 13:54, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

I don't have the Construction Set either--I play the PS3 version. I was confused at first too, but then I learned the logic behind the information. There is a way to edit the entire page. Go you your preferences and somewhere in there should be a box you can click to enable double-click editing. This lets you edit the entire page just by double-clicking on it. I use this a lot because it's fast and lets me see everything at once.
If at all possible, I usually try to avoid reverting edits. I like to keep as much useful, relevent information as possible on a page (which is the point of the wiki, after all). I can't promise that nobody will revert your edits. The driving idea behind a wiki is that anyone can edit anything for the sake of improving the site and making it a community effort. Here's a couple of suggestions to help ensure that your edits won't need to be reverted:
  • Grammar! Find a book or a website about American English grammar and use it to help you avoid simple mistakes, such as comma usage, general punctuation, sentence structure, spelling, and so on. Most sources like this are very helpful and very easy to use. I often have an extra window open to dictionary.com to double-check spelling and such.
  • Be concise. A short but very informative page is better than a wordy, convoluted page. Why? People don't want to read six paragraphs to find one piece of information they need ;).
Also, watch what you put in the "Edit Summary" box. It should tell people what you did to a page, but shouldn't have a negative tone. Saying you made something a lot better might upset whoever previously revised the page. Besides, improvement is subjective. Anyway, as a rule, be polite, learn from your mistakes, don't be afraid to ask for help, and keep editing! --Eshe 14:15, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

Thanks! (Giant Skull!)[edit]

Ah yes, what is an Easter Egg and what isn't? Oh yeah, the giant mud crab, I saw that (had to kill it, of course!). I don't think I've seen the (or any) giant ninroot(s). But given that there are giant things in the game, now that makes sense. The skull is worth having, because, uh, because it's a game and what else do you do with games? Easter eggs are nice because they are a computer RPG tradition (well not just RPGs). --Natpoor 16:49, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

Hey, no problem! I actually haven't seen any of the giant items myself, but I've read about them on the wiki. I clearly spend too much time here! Oblivion has lots of easter eggs, my personal favorite of which is the "worst troll ever." --Eshe 18:05, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

THANK YOU![edit]

Thank you Eshe for undoing the vandalism on my page. I don't know what to say! --Playjex 18:26, 12 July 2007 (EDT)

You're quite welcome ;) --Eshe 18:38, 12 July 2007 (EDT)

Help?[edit]

(for starters i spell really badly , so please bare with me)Hello there, first off i noticed that you deleted my comment on mehrunes razor, if that offended you in any way i'm sorry it had no intent, i just got confused when reading secondly i am having problems getting this quest to work. i downloaded the plug-in for the 360 but i didnt get the quest update Lookingeast 23:22, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

This is probably a n00b question, but...[edit]

How do i add templates to my user profile? I've played quite a bit of Oblivion and Morrowind as well as both of their expansions. I'd like to be able to list those templates. Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm pretty new to editing and things like that, so I really appreciate your help. Hopefully, I can get some time and figure this all out ;) El Macho Baracho

M'aiq wishes you well![edit]

Hee hee, M'aiq has stolen your userbox for his own use (: The text is a bit different, though..

So, what does the PS3-using non-furred creature think? Harry marries Ron and Dumbledore will pull a Gandalf, only to be subsequently killed by Hermione who has anger-issues? (: M'aiqM'aiq thinks talk serves no purpose. 08:30, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

Second Person[edit]

Haha, thanks for the heads up. That's definitely going to save me a lot of work.

Belisarius[edit]

Sorry about that. I thought that I had wrote may refer and didn't realize that it had been edited.

That's okay, don't worry about it ;). For the sake of accuracy with things like that, it's better to say it might be true than to say that it is true. Thanks for adding those, by the way. My guess is that it is true, and it's certainly very interesting! --Eshe 23:32, 28 July 2007 (EDT)

Faction member tables[edit]

I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been systematically re-ordering the Morrowind faction pages after you put those member tables up there. I figure the majority of visitors to these pages are mainly interested in the quests, so I've been putting the quests before, not after the extremely long member tables. If you could remember to do this for the remainder of these pages, it would save me the trouble later. Thanks. --TheRealLurlock Talk 17:27, 30 July 2007 (EDT)

I hadn't noticed that, sorry! I was just basing the layout off of the pages that already had member tables, but you're right, the quests should be listed first. I'll be sure to do that for the rest of them. Sorry for the extra trouble. --Eshe 17:34, 30 July 2007 (EDT)

Small Request[edit]

It looks like you've been marking unanswered talk page questions as patrolled. I think it's better to leave questions marked as unpatrolled until the question has been answered. Often answering questions can't be done until two or three days after the question is asked (e.g., the question just asked at Oblivion Talk:Frenzy will require spending some time in game creating and casting custom spells, which I can't do right away), and it's much much easier to find those unanswered questions later if they show up in the list of unpatrolled edits. It's not a big deal, but I figured it was better to point it out sooner than later :) Thanks! --NepheleTalk 20:45, 31 July 2007 (EDT)

Y'know, I had a feeling somebody was going to say something to me about that. Since I hadn't read through all of UESPWiki Talk:Patrollers until just now, I didn't know that you had already mentioned this. It might be a good idea to mention it somewhere on the main Patroller page as well to prevent future Patrollers from making the same mistake. Sorry for the inconvenience! I'll make better use of my noggin from now on ;). --Eshe 21:04, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
